      Your welcome one of the most common issues is the oil pump pick up O-ring also a good high volume pump in an LS engine never hurts either

    Awesome video I was dreading doing mine due to the front differential but seeing you do it this way motivated me to do it this weekend

      All you have to do is loosen the oil pan bolts all around and be very carefull taking the one oil pickup bolt out the rest is gravy

    Great video 👍
    And the way you did your oil pump install was nice. I have seen some people shim the pump gear first before bolting the whole pump together. Is that even necessary ?

      Thank you as for shimming the pump I have changed mine of these and never needed to. I hate dropping the oil pan and as I said I like to disassemble the pump clean it and pack it with Vaseline any way just the way I was taught to do these things. It is supposed to help pickup oil faster and lubricate the pump untill it gets oil.

    Pretty solid video. 2013 avalanche 100k mi A few questions. I have full dod delete., cover bare lifters timing chain 20k miles ago. The melling high volume pump oil pressure has never been great. Less than 40 cold 19 or 20 hot then just started dropping low less than 10 and lifter tick. Where would you start on this? Do you think I had a bad pump out the box or something else? I already spent 4k and don’t really have the money to throw at it. Should I just bite it and try a new pump? Thanks man for any help.

      Probably a bad pump, but I have to ask. Did they do a DOD tower plug kit because it also could be the O-rings on your DOD plate
      If it were mine, I would pull front cover and replace oil pump and cam thrust plate
      And hope that makes the issue go away, unfortunately without seeing it in person kind of hard to tell what exactly to do, but that’s definitely where I would start

      Also, the reason you’re not seeing extremely good oil pressure is because these have a check valve made into the oil filter housing in the oil pan that is designed to let pressure off so it won’t over pressurize the DOD system

    I think i missed it, did you a standard or high volume pump?

    • @blindguysgarage
      @blindguysgarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use a High volume oil pump on these and if I rember right the factery also uses a high volume pump on all AFM-DOD engines

    How long did it take you to do the oil pump? I’m having the same problem. I have a 2009 GMC Yukon Denali 6.2 L and I changed the oil pressure sensor three times and it’s still on so we found out that I need to get an oil pump now. What do you think I should do because the truck now won’t start.

    • @blindguysgarage
      @blindguysgarage  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not starting is a terrible thing. Probably has already done the damage. If it is the oil pump it’s only a couple hour job.

      I think you are definitely right it’s making already loud sound and also the motor is shaking as I can tell when I started it up I had to jump it today to get it started. After I jumped it and let it run for a while and then I turned it off. It wouldn’t start back up it just got this noise ,Just need a little advice on what to do at this point and thank you again for responding back.

      @@tonalinamoore659 can’t tell you for sure without hearing it myself but if you are having to jumpstart it, I’m assuming you have bearing problems and you are probably hearing a Rod knock. If this is the case, the engine needs a full rebuild or to be replaced.
