Probably surface noise with a combination of the recording grabbing static from the synthesizer hardware. It’s a rough master from what I can tell. Sounds creepy though.
This appears to be a recording of the vinyl record for this soundtrack. You can get hisses, pops as is usual with these types of recordings, however the buzzing is likely some feedback/distortion. I usually hear it if my phono/composite audio cables are on a power source or otherwise not properly grounded.
Whoever made these way back in the 80s is brilliant. Amazing horror soundtrack.
