      You did amazing work on this! It is like my dream come true. I first heard this in 1986 at the age of 31. Then I bought the movie. There is something so ethereal about this, it transports me and fills me with tranquility. One of my friends taped the music for me for my chronic insomnia. I slept with this for years.
      Another beautiful movie is "The Enchanted Garden".
      Check it out some time.

      @@kitraestudio I see your point because at the time Jerry Goldsmith did the original soundtrack and this was before the modern technology we have now so I agree that the Tangerine Dream version is better not to say that Jerry's was bad either.

    • @kitraestudio
      @kitraestudio  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@timothyrenar5498 Golsmith's score on the original cut of the film was incredible. There was no reason to replace it. That was just studio interference, but Tangerine Dream did a great job making their music fit the American cut of the film like a glove. Both scores are masterpieces, but as far as the two cuts of the film, I think the longer original cut is better.

    • @timothyrenar5498
      @timothyrenar5498 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kitraestudio Well like I mentioned above with the technology we have now it's easy for for composers to download the entire score including extras that weren't used in the movie because we are in the digital world now instead of the analog back in the 80's and prior but I'm sure if the technology we have now was around back then I'm sure either Jerry Goldsmith or Tangerine Dream wouldn't of had any problems downloading the entire score at that time.

      If by "anyone" you mean people younger than 20 years old then sure. But everyone who grew up in the 80's or 90's already knew "dungeon synth"is nothing new. We've watched films like this one, or have played might and magic or any of the fantasy games like the Might and Magic series the Legend of Kyrandia series, The Legacy of Kain series, etc. It's just an age gap thing. Funny how everything 80's became popular again.

      I only included the TD music they composed here, but I love that Gilmour/Ferry song. There is a pop version of the Unicorn Theme TD recorded with a female vocalist that was awful, so I am glad they did not use that for the credits. However, I would have rather TD composed some proper end credits music in the same style as the rest of the movie.

    Dammit I don’t know if I have this version or not. I watched the movie as a kid and loved it, and recently put my pirate hat on to acquire another copy that I haven’t actually watched yet. Now I’m going to be stressing over which version I have 😅

      I have a mix of that music, but the quality was not good enough to include here. All the surround channels for that section and the ring dive/frozen lake section are plastered with bird chirps and loud, jarring sound effects. Too much to digitally or manually remove and still keep the music intact.
      I will attempt it again at some point, but with the audio tools I have now, it's just not clean enough.

      @@jesseblevins1696 I have a slightly improved version here. Slightly less choppy and the synth intro is a bit louder. Still full of sound effect I can't removed however.

    Nice work. I used to be such a TD fan boy, they could do no wrong. At one time, I had nearly everything they ever released commercially. I think I topped out at 127.
    Legend was magnificent...the music, not so much the film.
    Seeing Doctor Frank N. Furter as The Lord of Darkness was a treat. Tim Curry brought such intensity to his role.
    Overdubbing Jon Anderson for the soundtrack delivered an interesting song, but I understand why you didn't include it here...and I'm a big vintage YES fan, as well.

    Amazing. I just read Ridley Scott hired Tangerine Dream to score this film because Jerry Goldsmith's score wouldn't resonate with the younger audience AND only had THREE weeks to complete....WOW!

    • @kitraestudio
      @kitraestudio  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      It was more pressure from Universal than something Ridley wanted to do. Specifically president Sid Sheinberg, who thought American kids would not like it. I think the studio thought TD would do a rock and roll soundtrack, like they had just done for the Tom Cruise film Risky Business. Thankfully TD did not do that and we have this fantastic score. Scott has said the score took three weeks to do, but Edgar Froese of TD said it actually took them two months.

    I find this soundtrack very interesting, because it has lots of same sort of ques what yhou heard on William Friedkin's Sorcerer. Curious that was this just the style of Tangerine Dream still during this time, or did Ridley Scott request to make soundtrack that kinda had similar kind of vibes to Sorcerer's soundtrack.

    Man, as much as I already liked the TD score in the film, now I see it got short shrift. There's so much more amazing stuff here!
    Both versions of the film and soundtracks have their points, but my dream version is the director's cut movie with this soundtrack.

    • @kitraestudio
      @kitraestudio  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      About 83 minutes of TD music was used in the film, and almost all of that is here. The extra, non-film soundtrack music here is mostly the reworked versions of the same music cues from the official soundtrack, and a couple of extended sections from the 1986 live concert performances.
