Russel Ferrante is so gentle. Favourite pianist.
Russell is The Genius !! Love his music !!
All your interviews are so good. You are really so gentle, interested, warm and open. So Russell is just fitting in perfect with your show! Much respect
Wow, thanks for your kind words @laurentius75 and glad you enjoyed this 👍🏻🎸♫ Appreciate you listening!
I don't wanna sound too corny here@@EveryoneLovesGuitar . But what I really appreciate with your approach towards interviews is that you try to involve the artist to talk about emotion, inspiration and honest experiences. Not that postmodern journalistic nonsense to provoke and somehow criticize or even offend your interview partner - in pursue to get some "catchy" statements. Most artists that I watched in your series really seem to enjoy the conversation with you and open themselves up - because someone is really interested and dedicated to listening. Deep.
@@laurentius75 Thanks Lars, again... very kind of you. Well that's who I am in real life. I'm totally not into gossip or interested in anyone's "skeletons" in their closet. Unless they want to discuss that stuff, it's really none of my business. Live long enough and we all have uncomfortable things to deal with, we all make mistakes. That's just life.
Not my job to judge, I haven't walked in anyone else's shoes. I just want to learn the stories because I find them interesting. And selfishly... I like to learn something from other people, and it makes me happy that others do as well. I also like to connect with people on a more substantive level than "Why did you use that chord?" Not that this isn't interesting... but what am I going to do with that info now that I have it lol?
Take care man, and thank you for your support. Have a great weekend 👍
An interview with a Genius.!!! Bless you Russ !!!! ❤️

For the last 7 years the Yellow jackets has been at the center of my attention.. What can I say about Russ ??? He cannot be human.. His music is not of this world at all

Yessssssss. 40 years ago I bought an album called CASINO LIGHTS in order to track down an up-and-coming guy named Russell Ferrante. Go figure.
Thanks Uwe Reith, Rock on! 🎸🙌🏻🔥🎶
Great great interview. I love Russell. Wonderful musician.
Thanks Mark David, Rock on! 🎸🙌🏻🔥🎶 subscribe: elg.fun/subscribe
Wonderful HUMANBEING!!!
As someone that lives near The Hague, I do miss the North Sea Jazz Festival. And yes, I've been at both events he talks about. It's in Rotterdam now, and it's just not the same. Not the ambiance and not the line-ups.
Thank you for listening @BrazenNL! 🎉🔥😇
Russ one of the great composers, musicians of his generation. Just listen to any Yellowjackets record and you'll understand.
Yes, I agree MrDaveaccord - thanks for listening! subscribe: elg.fun/subscribe
I befriended Russell back in the late 70s and a few years later I was at the local hardware store and heard his voice a few aisles over and he told me he had just moved into the neighborhood. I still bump into him at the drug store and local restaurants. Such a great guy and great player.
Yes, I agree Gary Gibson - thanks for listening! subscribe: elg.fun/subscribe
what an incredible musician
Great interview! Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it Chris!
Criag, that interview was superb! You are such a tasteful and intelligent interviewer. I was taken down memory lane when Jimmy Witherspoon was mentioned. I played on Spoons last studio recording, 'The Blues the Whole Blue's' produced by Mike Vernon. Played two tours in UK and Europe with Spoon. That aside, I've watched many of your shows and it's clear your love of Music and the respect to your guests is admirable. Best wishes. 👍
Wow, thank you so much Gary. That's really kind of you and I appreciate you taking the time to share that with me. I'm just happy to be putting some good vibes out there that people are enjoying. All the best man, and have a great weekend - thank you for listening!
R. Ferrante un crack !!!!

that you so much for this interview sir
You're welcome, carter paul and thanks for listening 🔥🎶🙌🏻 ...
Maaaaaannnnn, Russ is an absolute humble guy. I got a chance to learn from him at Musicians Institute…he made everything he played so easy to learn. I think I still have some of the sheet music he gave us. Super cool guy!!!!!
Thanks Kyn Mahone, Rock on! 🎸🙌🏻🔥🎶
Very interesting! Great interview. It would have been interesting to know what Russell thinks of the up and coming artists such as Jesus Molina, Jacob Collier and co. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for your kind words @dainty1dainty and glad you enjoyed this 👍🏻🎸♫
Craig,
Thank you so much for this interview with one of my favorite smiling spirits in music, a warmth and grace you help capture here so well.
In the late ‘80’s, early’90’s I was fortunate to present the Jackets in my hometown, San Luis Obispo, and then represent them for a couple of years as an agent at IMN. Getting to see them live thru those years was always a joy, from little clubs like Scullers in Boston, Yoshi’s and Great American Music Hall in the Bay Area, to the Hollywood Bowl. They always connected deeply with audiences, from heads to hearts to dancing feet!
I’ve always connected to Russ and the guys as my favorite jazz “songwriters”, tunesmiths whom have created some of the most memorable compositions in this unique, inclusive niche they’ve inhabited all these years and decades, “fusion” in the best sense of the word rather than some marketing label. Your far ranging conversation helps touch on all the elements they’ve drawn upon and explored and synthesized.
Yo Russell!!!
Gratitude to you both!!!
Wow, thanks for your kind words Chip and glad you enjoyed this 👍🏻🎸♫
