- Jonas Vingegaard is the best rider at the moment when it comes to the Tour de France having won in both 2022 and 2023 even defeating the seemingly unbreakable Tadej Pogacar.

Prediction: Jonas skips the Tour to get a full recovery, Pog wins it somewhat handily and then decides to go for the Vuelta to get the Trifecta. Jonas goes to the Vuelta to block the Trifecta and it's a battle for the ages between Visma and UAE.
i am fine with that xD
The race to watch this year is gonna be Vuelta if Jonas gonna go.
Jonas would have to crash again to skip the tour
Pogacar said last week that he will not ride the Vuelta no matter what happens in the TDF.
@@scottsefton294 and lance armstrong said he was clean. What’s your point?
Honestly, I just hope he is able to get back to the level he was at before the accident. Yes, I would like to see him ready at the end of the month, but if he isn't that is alright. Heal up JV, we need you in the sport.
Vingo and Rog could have beaten Kuss in vuelta 2023 , but they were not allowed to
@@jessemc3 Vingo is doped. Like his compatriots Riis and Rasmussen have been.
@@jessemc3 That of course is true and Kuss had a flash in the pan tour. But he's not a real Grande tour champion.
I am excited by the '24 TdF. We have an element of mystery surrounding Jonas' participation. Just weeks ago, we were all just hoping he wouldn't die. But Jumbo-Lease-A-Bike silence is beginning to seem like confidence, with a potential we-got-a-surprise-for-you moment, instead of scaling back their optimism. I believe he's going to ride. He's got nothing to lose. If he rides and doesn't win, he's still not fully recovered. 5th place, or a polka dot jersey still wins a prize; but if he does well, and perhaps even wins, it will be one of sports greatest comebacks. It's a Golden Age of being a cycling fan! --Your American friend.
Sorry, second comment. Looking back to last year's Vuelta, I really do think Jonas was the strongest GC rider, but I think (then) Jumbo made the right choice in respecting the red jersey and making Sepp the chosen GC in the end. However, if they had just gone all in for themselves, I think Jonas would have won and taken a double last year. But we'll never know, will we!? Also, I know a lot of folks are gonna have strong reactions and opinions to this. Can we keep it polite in the replies, please? I love cycling discussion so much but YT has really become the most toxic comment section and people are horrible to each other. I'd rather connect with other fans in a fun way.
I love your channel so much.
I would love to see great competition between Jonas, Tadej, Primož and Remco this year. This would be great for Tour and for fans. I am team Pogačar, but I respect Jonas and his abilities (the same for Primož and Remco). The truth is Tadej is fully well prepared for Tour after Giro and most importantly without injuries, so if anything unplanned won't happen, he will win this year.
I dislike UAE
Remco is not that class, Visma lost all when Rogla leave it, so we can get only Majka - Vlasov team duel for their champions.
Disclaimer: Huge JV fan here and I hope he will start at TdF and make the greatest comeback by winning. However, I am skeptical, Poga looks stronger than before. However, 2 things I think do not receive enough attention:
1) Team leadership and strategy. Yes, Poga does have the stronger climbing team this year, however, I have always felt that the Team Visma Lease a bike, has always had better tactics and also Jonas has demonstrated 2 years in a row now that he is the better tactical rider.
2) Previously, Jonas has gotten better in the 3rd week, and Poga weaker. This year, Poga has a 3-week GC sitting in his body which means he riding 6 weeks of GC across an 11-week (ish) period. We all know he looks super strong and many people think he will "easily" recover and be 100% by the start of TdF, but no one can be certain of this. There is a reason, that this hasn't been done for 26 years, since Pantani and I guess he had a lot of substances to help him recover faster.
Either way, it is going to be a fantastic race and all of the uncertainties are going to make this really interesting. Personally, I don't see Roglic or Evenepool as GC candidates unless Poga/Jonas crashed.
There are a lot of rumors about Jonas being extremly doped. Also based on that Netflix documentary and Equipe's infamous "D'une autre planète". Same headline they used after Armstrong's win in a TT. What do you think about it? Nobody seems to believe that effort in the TdF TT last year can be achieved without being doped.
I think analytical capabilities are so good these days they just won't be able to get away with it in a major race like TDF
Pogacar made a big mistake switching bikes. Aerodynamics still play a big role at the speeds they were going up that climb
The way that Jonas ride can help him to start slow the first two weeks and in the final week recovered 100%, put the race on canvas
Just hope it can keep it interesting because the Giro was not
People been saying the Giro was more interestinng than they expected because of the battle for 2nd. What kind of idiot thinks a 10 minute lead in GC makes for an exciting race?
Giro was amazing!
@@cleantgfydf Great for you. Some of us found it amazingly boring and foreseeable. Hopefully the Tour wont be, like @lowliquidity is stressing.
The giro was wank mate 😭👍@@cleantgfydf
It was awesome. Performance for the ages by the best rider of the century. You probably want Froome back.
People are expecting too much from Kuss because of his Vuelta win, but he would never have won had Roglic and Vingegaard been in opposing teams
True.... people seem to forget that Roglic and Vingegaard did not fully attack ! They had an agreement that they try to break him but only will take the red away from him if another rider from another team manages to pass him in GC.... They rode hard and hoped that Ayuso or Landa manage to get inbetween... but when that didnt happen they slowed down their attacks. So the deal was that if Kuss stayed in front of everyone else... Roglic or Vingegaard will not take the red away from him ... they could have done so easily stage 17
He won’t be winning no Tour this year. Don’t burden the kid with unrealistic expectations
I agree miss it unit next year then smash up pog
Jonas is the favorite to win
agreed, I'd love seeing Jonas Vingegaard winning the tour but he could need more time to recover his level. I've seen him in O Gran Caminho and even if I am a big fan of him, he should fully recover first.
Look, at the end of the day all we can do is speculate and give our 2 cents here and there. Jonas broke this and that he can't be at 100%, He'll never be as strong again,so n so has a strong team, so and so should recover for the Vuelta and forget about the tour, so and so should maybe try for stage wins etc... The truth however is that we're not Jonas and aren't at the Visma camp. We don't know. So lets wait and see 🤷🏾♀️
one thing to add to the prospect of team and helper strength is that for Jumbo its always certain they work as a team, while for UAE im not too sure about that, i have already seen some interviews where helpers were pretty vague about their own ambitions in the tour. so maybe on paper they have a stronger team, but more ego's in the team too.
I like this comment, I'm chewing on it a bit and considering your points. I agree about Visma really working as a team while UAE isn't as good at that. I think they've been better this season than previous, though. I often wonder if they studied Visma's team tactics in the off-season. I'm not sure I agree Visma has more egos on the team, especially with Sepp and Jorgenson currently slated to participate. LaPorte doesn't strike me as an egotistical guy, and definitely not Jonas. Wout? Yes lol, but he's had plenty of humbling moments this year so he may take it down a notch.
Whenever Pogi is racing, his team is always united behind him. If Pogi comes with top form, non of his teammates will be close to his level and thus there would be no one even thinking of going for leadership.
Ayuso was already humbled by Jonas.. so his ego is no where to be found anymore and have to give in to the real leader, Tadej
@@camillelivelyhello, he meant more egos in UAE team, not TVL
@@marfranc726 Yes, you're right. I realized my mistake after reading the other comments. Yikes.
Praying for a full recovery even if it means skipping the TdF. Jonas is a still a young man with a brilliant cycling future ahead of him given the chance to properly recover. Let Pog run all over TdF this year. I want to see a fully healed Jonas in 2025 take back the yellow.
Team, Team, Team & knowing how to win the race as two time winner.
it'll be interesting because tadej seems to have gotten stronger, as if that were possible
I hope he waits until next year. One more fall and that would be the end of it. Please, wait until next year...you are still a young bucko.💪😎💪🚴♀️
In Vin's favor is Pog could have taken it easy in the last two weeks of the Giro and still won. Did those efforts affect his TdF recovery. If Vin races the Tour, hopefully it will come down to the wire in the last week and be a thrilling battle between the two.
Those efforts did not affect his recovery lol ... he will be fully recoverd even from an allout max effort in 3-4 days... and he has 1 month to recover
Wout Van Aert at the 2024 TDF? Where is your source on that? I thought it was always Olympic preparations and skipping TDF? He can still be at a team training camp and not be selected.
Heavy heavy HEAVY focus on UAE and its main rider in this video. I thought that this TDF was supposed to be a battle between 4 juggernauts? Where is the mention of the other two? What about the rest of the UAE squad that was recently announced? Adam Yates Podiumed last year yet no mention about him? Primoz Roglic, who didn't suffer any major injuries unlike Jonas. Where is his mention? Remco? It isn't just Tadej that Jonas needs to beat to win the TDF.
many ppl think (including me) that the only one who can really rival Pogacar in the Tour is Vingegaard and that Roglic and Evenepoel are for sure very good GC riders and even the 3rd and 4th best in the world probably, but they wont get anywhere close to the level of Vingegaard and Pogacar. they are, as far as i see it, just a bit better than for example the ppl who finished 2nd and 3rd in the Giro. my prediction is that Roglic and Evenpoel will be behind ore than 4 minutes in the end (if its a normal TdF where at least one of Pogacar or Vingegaard reaches his normal level).
This was in a post or article from Visma yesterday. Jonas, Wout, and LaPorte are at altitude camp now and the Dauphine guys will join them next week. They'll choose the team out of that group. They said that the decision about Wout will come down to whether or not he feels the tour will help him prep for the Olympics or if he would be better to train away from the tour. I'll find it for you and post!
@@joowsty you've got to remember that vingegaard benefited from Roglic and ofc wva in his successes - i think he'll have more work to do on his own with Wout diminished and Roglic gone
What you didn't say, was that Tade had an armchair ride in the Giro. He's got an advantage
Personally I don't like UAE lineup for TDF. Too much mountain domestiques and too little power for the flat and control breakaways. Mountain trains are overrated imo. however I don't know if they had any alternative to replace for example sivakow or almeida or ayuso with someone who is better on the flat
U must be new in cycling, kid, this isnt crit race. Its all about smoking ur enemy in mountains to win the so called GC lmao.
@@jackal6234 and u must be grandpa that doesnt see changes and has 0 understanding of racing. Pogacar doesn't need team to pace all day long, for him it's better have 2-3 very strong guys who can pace last climb so he can use his dynamic and gain time this way like last TDF. 2023 TDF stage showed how important is to control breakaways.
The famous Tadbugacar
😂😂
Well let's hope he has recovered from the big crash better than Remco has!! If not he will be dog meat at the TDF as Remco is in the Dolphine!!.
People trying to hype Jonas about to get a massive dose of Reality served....
did you see Pogacha unzip the jeasey? That means he was crush. I saw that 3 times. All made by Jonas. He is the only one can beat Pogacha in mountain.
It was more Pog himself though because I think they are equal in mountains but in 2022 he gassed himself out with being overly active for dumb reasons and 2023 he crashed, broke his wrist and did not have sufficient training to peak at TdF.
It's called growing up!!!! Tog races smarter now and not full gas each stage!!!!
He'll need an extra big jiffy bag at this stage.
It's so difficult, pogacar win the race more possible, there is no time give he recovery.
@cyclingdane
As a content creator , you need to have self views may be that's against your title of vedio.
That's absolutely fine..
Rewatch the stage 20 Giro 24. After 3 weeks racing and a solo 36k attack, see the face of pogi at the finish line.
The only way Jonas beats Pogi is if he's at 100%.... otherwise you'll get the Paris-Nice 2023 version of Jonas
I fear that UAE is just too strong as a team, even if Jonas is somehow getting back to 100% (which i can't imagine).
Con l'aiuto di una squadra alla sua altezza.
He can't beat Taj at this moment
why not
Last year Pogy had a broken wrist that hindered his preparation, this year others have had bad luck..... and then there is Primo.... who always has bad luck
I'm not a Vingeraard fan so go go Pogi & Primo
Froglic for Le Tour win!
Hahaha I don’t think @CyclingDane could ever go against Jonas. 2022 Jumbo with most based team and 2023 with Tadej coming in after broken wrist. Both are legends, both are great, I can’t wait!!
Hahahahhahaha I didnt think I was biased
Ayuso = Matteo
Kuss = Yates
Jonas = Pog
Wout = ????
Visma has the upper hand
Wout on Pollitt or Wellens
You know for which team drive ayuso? Coz you have Visma team on left except Ayuso
Well with a pulling out of the Olympics. Can't be a good sign either way. But still looking for the Battle of the Year in France!!
Not sure why they would bring a mountain goat to the Olympics in the first place
truth be told visma is in a very low point with I believe both wout and vingegaar not in full and wout not joining the tdf. sepp did not do much this year. and its also a year with 4 greats fighting for it Poja, remco, primoz and if tur vingegaar.
Pogacar has issues with acceleration in high altitude?
If you all have watched him in the Giro this year I'm afraid that there is no room for doubt! Let Jonas recover. This year belongs to Tadej!
It could be nice but it could be a miracle from the low he has been.
It is Jonas we're talking about, but after this kind of injury (pneumothorax) him being in top3 would be suspicious.
Jonas can win Tour 2024
Yes he can & probably will.
I have said it from dec 23 2023. I have the Pog win loose or draw. I wrote on my Facebook page that the Pog will take the giro tour double. Injured or no injured jonas remco and Roglic.
The mature Pog is a different rider. Mark these words
Maybe in 2025.
Jorgenson will be solid, Kuss won't be worth the cost of his hotel room. Visma will struggle to get on the podium.
Kuss has been clutch. Why not now?
Oh please! He's not even close to a GC Rider!!!!
If Vingegaard was still on a hospital bed groaning and moaning, writhing in pain, I would say he is OUT of Le Tour. But this is NOT the case. He is going to win his third consecutive TDF.
Easy Pogy😂
Guarantee that Jonas will not ride 2024 TdF.
Copium, sorry mate but it's tough for Vingo this year after that crash.
He will be lucky to get top ten...you can recover from such injuries and regain 100% form in one and half months of training...we might never get the 2023 tdf last TT Vingegaard ever again.
You may be speaking about yourself but not Jonas... lol
If pog wins the tour and doesn’t even attempt la Vuelta he is just dumb
If Jonas skip tdf we will receive one more boring grand tour Pogachar dominantion
Unpopular opinion Ayuso can make it Top 3 tdf.
Why should that be an unpopular opinion?!
@@Goldeeliza because I think roglic , evenepoel, pocagar and vingegaard have a better change at riding top 3
Your bias clouds your critical thinking. Pogi from a conditioning POV isn't the same rider from the past 2 years. He literally went and changed things up to beat Jonas. And yet you can't seem to see it.
You seem to be forgetting that we‘re talking about Jonas Vingegaard here. This guy is probably the biggest high altitude VO2 monster the sport has ever seen. He went to the Vuelta last year quite off top form and still absolutely lit up the high mountain stages, and would have won if not for idiosyncratic team tactics and eventually team direction to support Kuss.
Watch guys
You talk with authority. Yet you know shit.
@@paigemichael-shetley5306 Incompetent. Pogi is leaner compare to any time of his career so far. Just look at pictures and compare last year to this year. He has a new trainer. Plus he will be lighter at TDF than ever before. His program this year is build around tour racing. Every race he enter this year has similar stages to what we will see at TDF. Even Catalonia had mountain stages above 2000m in Altitude. Yet people don't see the preparation Pogi is doing to beat Jonas in his own environment where he excel. High mountains and ITT. Oh wait I forgot! In this clown world, people doesn't have the mental capacity to think critically.
@@oliverleigh9854 First of all, your tone is disrespectful and unacceptable. I didn’t disrespect you, so don‘t you talk down to me and insult my cognitive capacity like this as if you are somehow above me and are an authority on such matters, you arrogant jerk.
Yes, Pogi is doing new training to address weaknesses and will probably be improved. But you‘re being as dismissive of Jonas as a talent as you‘re accusing others of being toward Pogi. And that’s the problem I have with you. But at this point, I don‘t expect you to react in any other way than that of the arrogant jerk you were when you insulted my intelligence in the last response of yours.
he cant win. just like pogi couldnt win when he crashed in spring.
at tdf level a month of missed preperation is just too much
Tadi will not bonk this year at the TDF and gift the trophy to Jonas ❤
He did not bonk it last years, he lost to a better rider with a great team.
Pog got steamrolled last year by the worlds best grand tour rider who loses 17 seconds when he has a bad day..
At jumbo visma the are lying, Jona's inyury was not that bad, he will be in great shape at the tour the France, But that is not enough with the phenomen Tadej pogačar.
He might be riding and be able to hold onto the peloton or even hunt for a stage…but no way he will be able to compete for GC. Look around Wout. He was pretty basic at the Tour of Norway and he „only“ broke his ribs and some other bones. No punctured lung…
I'm not even going to watch this video....... It's not going to happend!
If he rides the TDF he will win.
6:06 Riis did NOT win the Tour de France.
He wont..100%
If he is smart he shouold focus on the vuelta to stop pogi to win all of the grand tour... that would be the ultimate humiliation for visma who in my opinion should have treated roglic a lot better.
If Vingegaard is at 💯 % he’ll very likely to wins it for the 3rd time in the role.
The interesting thing is he might not hit 100 percent till week 3. Can he make up any lost time?
@@danielsiapin that will be a very tough task, considering the fact that there will be a lot of really strong oppositions.
I'm afraid your beloved anchovy is not winning Le Tour.
Am going with Jonas. There’s no way Pogacar beating him at any grand tour.
Did you forget about the 2021 TDF?
@@Pipe_JL it his first Tour de France. Also did you forget the demolition he did to Pogacar the last two years so MUCH so Pogacar said Jonas is the best climber in the world. Take that.
@@Pipe_JL Where Jonas were in the race as a help rider, not the main man from the get go. First the captain went out, then the co captain and THEN, far into the race, FINALLY his team management could not hide his talent anymore and "allowed" him to, with a strongly decimated team, to go for the top. Seems YOU are the one that have forgotten TdF 2021!
Jonas will never be the same. Too fragile
He has no freaking shot. Will get smoked not injury but because the team is weak. Without extreme strength Jonas is a freaking joke. He has to hide outta the wind in bubble wrap. He will get his ass handed to him.
Yes, I have noticed that when he is doing TTs. Freaking joke.
Idk man. Most people consider Jonas at least average 😂😅

Here we go again, the party of Viking helmets and Tuborg beer is spewing propaganda. I get it, if I were Jonas' fanboy and his podcasting supporter, I'd be spinning tales about how Jonas can outfly Pog too. Hey, even UAE's people are saying Jonas is still the favorite to win the Tour - and they ate it right out of their hands. Maybe next they'll claim he can ride a unicycle up Mont Ventoux while juggling water bottles. After all, who needs reality when you have a good story and a helmet with horns? Not a single whisper about Remco and Roglic gracing the Tour with their presence. Clearly, they must be too busy perfecting their pastry-eating techniques and conducting Tuborg taste tests to bother with mere cycling objectivity to report news. 🥳🤠🥸😎
