“That’s what I love about role playing games, being told what to do”
Dean: “Me too”
The subtle things in this show 💀
I had to stop the video. I didn't remenber that line...
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Oh My Dean.......
if u dont follow the set guide story .... its just chaos
i have a my story path map out ... with an epic castle raid on the villain since 3 months
but the crew decided to go explore south n sail on a boat n explore a lake .... n derail the story n hunt for new under water creature
well the villain end up burning their home to the ground, kill a bunch of the village n kidnap their main magic enchanter who help them enchant all their magic weapons .....
they dont see reason to go find the reason
GM .. oohj i will make u want to go find him now .....
I don't think you know what the word subtle means
@@MarkSkater It completely flew over your head, didn't it? Dean Pelton is such a happy pansexual imp...
fans of community, Rick and Morty etc can take the most obvious and simple joke blown straight into the face on max volume and then call it subtle.
Also, the look Abed gives while saying "I've generated some details about the surrounding area" is fantastic
And people say he doesn't emote! :b
That's the look of a veteran DM who has dealt with too many players trying to poke the boundaries of his world.
The joy of when your players ACTUALLY go somewhere you had prepared.
Thats how we know this is fantasy. That never happens.
That’s the look of Abed being called “Aziz”. He was all *WORLD BUILDING POWERS ACTIVATE!*
REALLY subtle detail that I didn't notice until just now is Hank's little nod of approval when Abed goes into detail concerning the bridge's construction/integrity. Notice that he stops criticizing how Abed runs the game after that; I think it's because he realizes at that point that Abed is genuinely good at being a Dungeon Master.
Because the bridge was the last vestige of whatever cheesy father-son bonding campaign Abed had pre-written up
If Hector the Well-endowed was meant for Troy last time, then who was meant to be him this time?
Annie owned it last time so probably her
Annie because I bet Abed had an elf maiden again somewhere in the game ...
My bet is that Jeff requested it
So you're saying I can see Alvin and the Chipmunks go Breaking Bad in the Darkest Timeline? That just wrinkled my brain.
Then you would be disturbed if you watch Scary Movie 2.
@@sunnygolightly9996 Scary Movie 2 Is Funny But I ain’t scared of it
"I've generated some details about the surrounding area"
Translation: "Don't test me, boy. I've built worlds you could hardly fathom in trips to the bathroom"
2:50 Annie's trying to hide her anger in the way she stares after "I'm laughing"
The hobgoblin interrogation is probably the best moment of season 5
How about the acb bandit?
@@99pedropotteracb bandit for me
This episode has grown on me over the years. It's not the equal of the first d&d episode, but no shame on falling short of one of the best episodes of the show.
It was always going to be difficult to follow the first D&D episode and the emotional pay off this time doesn't quite hit the same way it did for Neil. But I think this is one of the best Dean and Jeff episodes.
its a good episode but significantly worse than the original
Wow I actually thought the original was pretty overrated. A good episode for sure, but it’s very clear that the popularity came from the controversy of it being pulled off streaming services (for BS reasons). I like that David Cross actually had an effect on the characters and episode. Neil’s plot was contrived and ultimately not what the episode was even about; it was all servicing Pierce’s character development - which of course gets back-tracked every single episode because Dan despised him - making it a less impactful episode.
The dean rubbing his sword to Jeff’s picture is probably one of the funniest things I’ve seen in my life, I’m 48.
Is this in any Trivia, cos I have a feeling this isn't. In any case, I just realized this:
Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis play the same character in Looper. Bruce Willis is, as we know, John from Die Hard. Two plus two equals Joseph Gordon-Die Hard.
If it was a reference, it was a good one.
😱
Right, but where does the "Sir Riggs Die-Hard" come from?
To anyone just seeing this, it’s never too late to answer vesdus’ question, I really want to know! Lol
@@jontay4199 Martin Riggs is the protagonist's name from Lethal Weapon! Lol
You know where he was for most of my birthdays? A little place that rhymes with "not there!
-Times Square?
1:07 the Dean saying “Whaaaat” so cute🥰
everything the dean does is cute
Don't know if anyone suggested anything like this already, but it would be cool if you could do a Community movie or something.
And now, a year later, if the news is true, your wish has been granted.
I have some great news bud
you must be a prophet
6 seasons and a movie
@@ChrisLosingIt6 seasons and a movie.
Maybe David Cross would have been more likely to play DnD with Buzz if he had hired his lawyer to help bridge the gap with them as well
Bob Lob Law?
“I am Joseph Gordon Die Hard, a level 10 analrapist.”
Is this a Better Call Saul reference because Bob Odenkirk also did Mr. Show with David Cross?
@@YOURNOTSAFEAGAIN it doubles for both, I’m a classy guy
This episode was great but I wanted an ending to their quest, I know it was about fixing dad-son feud but still the first D&D episode with Pierce was EPIC!
Even if they didn’t show it, I would’ve liked a resolution.. even if it is the next episode and Hickey is talking about it with the group
1:46 Shirley’s face when Joseph Gordon pops up and introduced himself 💀💀
omg now I want to go back and watch this episode, the Dean x Jeff drama was truly something
Tiny Nuggins is about to punch some hearts and interrogate the hob off some hobgoblins
The return of Hector (who sprays all over them!)
This so perfectly encapsulates getting reluctant players into a game.
Community is the one introduced me to dnd four years ago. Been dming ever since.
I love Hank's gradually increasing respect for Abed
I love Tristram calling out Aziz when he doesnt think Aziz designed anything beyond the black tower and has a whole binder full of ideas.
Abed probably had all that designed in case anyone called him “Aziz”.
To think that the tension between Hickey and his son resulted in a much better episode than that season 4 episode where Jeff finally meets his father that he resented so much
Meh
That Jeff moment was pretty great, but yeah, that episode as whole was lackluster, especially compared to this one
I remember watching this the first time and thinking the follow up to "he's not your grandson" would be a bigger reveal than just, "I don't like my dad" drama 🙈
honestly devastating none of the players get to roll their own dice that’s the best part!!!
I want abed as a dm so bad
Just as long as there are no pregens. I can come up with my own dumb name.
I dislike the dm rolling for me personally, and I prefer 5e to what seems to be 2ed anywho
The “AHA I KNEW IT” always kills me
Mr Hickey has been really distanced from his son ever since he failed to catch Alvin and the Chipmunks
I just watched that episode last night! Because I have the whole series on DVD.
Your profile picture says it all lmao
Paintball episodes are great but I love the DnD episodes.
It's so funny that they had a rail roading gag
Calling Abed "Aziz" is most likely based on all the confused fans who did that regularly to Danny Pudi.
Usually accompanied by “… LIGHT!”
'he's not your grandson, he's my son' - the moment the episode got real
You can tell they're theater people. Chuckles shuffles their characters and they just take it with glee.
that look abed gives says "Don't ever call a dm's bluff."
the one gripe as an actual dnd player q
with both episodes: Abed rolling the dice
Yeah that always irked me
David asking if he'd fall down from the graphics mirrors what Rick and Morty did when facing his character in the animation, haha
Give us the other one !!
The one Netflix doesn't want us to watch !!
Now I need to watch this whole episode again. Its such a good episode.
0:09 here in the italian version he mispronounces "dungeons". No idea why they changed it in translation, but it was funnier the fact that he has no idea of how the game is even called.
Curious, didn't know they dubbed this into other languages... do the jokes and references carry over well?
@@N-e0N what do you mean? This is the only difference I've noticed so far, if that's what you're asking
@@N-e0N basically every show gets dubbed in almost every country
@@subday5811 I'm in India, and I'm kind of thankful it wasn't dubbed into Hindi😂😂
As a DM I'm always miffed at Abed rolling all the dice. I'm guessing they did it to speed up the narrative, but it makes Abed come off as a control freak. Maybe that's all intentional but that's how I feel.
My headcanon is that no one else in the group ever bothers to bring their own dice, so Abed just uses his and they're all casual enough that they don't mind. I like to think they've played maybe twice since the first D&D episode.
they didn't even create their own characters
I kind of doubt they played even twice since the last d&d episode
I believe it's actually just how Dan Harmon learned the game was played when he was younger. It's mentioned in the Thomas Middleditch episode of Harmon Quest, when Thomas asks to roll his own dice, and Dan says he thought the DM always rolls the dice. Spencer confirms it's not actually like that.
The DM is supposed to do the rolling. The Control freaks are the players that want to roll their own. it slows the game way down.
The Dreamatorium prepared Abed for the sass that came his way 😂
When I read the title I thought is was about Advanced DnD, please upload that chapter
This is really common, instead of actually trying to bond with his son and play the game on his terms, hickey and the rest just want to fast forward the relationship so he can fix the specific issue at hand. Instead of fixing the underlying issue they just want to be immune from the consequences of their actions and get a free pass.
Underappreciated episode.
I like that you can tell at least a few people involved in this have 100% played dnd before. That yelling at the dm was too gd real.
"What do you say Aziz?" Didn't realize the first time lmfao
A worthy sequel
i can't tell if abed is a good DM or bad one: on one hand he's a hardass with ZERO leeway but on the other he's also totally unbiased.XD
This is honestly pretty similar to my group's dynamic
LOL, sounds awful. I hate people that always have to do their own thing or fuck with the party somehow.
Upload the SONSLAYER!!! Moment
It was ridiculous to remove the earlier D&D episode (S2-14). That's NOT what BLM was asking for.
Correct. They were asking for six seasons and a *movie*
I know, I’m so upset about that!
It's one of the best episodes, too. Really funny.

Good on Abed for rolling in the open. DMs shouldn’t fudge rolls, especially in life or death situations.
GMs should roll in secret when it comes to results that aren’t immediately known (bluffing, NPC motives, crossing a long tattered bridge, etc), but for immediate results, rolls should be open.
Then why is the DM screen a thing?
