    I love fairy houses/landscapes. I will definitely try this and, as a complete beginner, I hope to creates something that resembles this wonderful project. I couldn't tell but did you use the same needle for everything or did you different needles for different elements? My supplies should be arriving this week and I can't wait to get started. Thank you for the great video.

    • @TheHobbyBird
      @TheHobbyBird  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use 3 different
      needles...triangle gauges
      36, 38 and 40.
      The 36 is a coarse needle and will bring your wool together quickly but will leave a lot of pitting. The 38 gauge (the one l use most) will help you shape everything. And the 40 is very fine and will give you a smooth finish.
      I also use the 36 to attach parts...it really knots the fibers together.
      Let me know if you have anymore questions.
      Thanks for watching and happy felting. 😊

      I am located in Norway so I purchase carded wool from a sheep farm on the west coast of Norway.
      As for my needles…I purchase them from www.heidifeathers.com. I use mostly triangle needles in sizes 36, 38 and 40.

    Curious to know where do you purchase your roving and what type did you use for your cute little project? I'm new to needle felting and am intimidated by purchasing the necessary supplies. I'm not clear on how much roving I should consider purchasing of each color. Would appreciate any tips or suggestions you might have to offer. I'd like to make several (3 or 4) of these little tea cup fairy gardens so it would be great to purchase all the roving in one purchase. Also curious what type of roving you used to stuff the cup - is this a lesser quality roving than the pretty colored roving you use to make the detail pieces? Thanks for sharing!

    • @TheHobbyBird
      @TheHobbyBird  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I purchased all of my wool batts from a wool farm on the west coast of Norway. I buy in bulk, assorted colours in 100 gram bags. I simply purchase more of the colours I use most.
      Where are you located? Try and see if there are any places where you can buy your wool in bulk online. It is much more cost efficient that way.
      If you are in Norway, I can send you the link to where I purchase mine. 😊
      I use the same quality wool batts for everything. I just chose some I had in large supply.

      @@TheHobbyBird Thanks for the helpful information. I'm located in the USA (Virginia). I'll start searching for online providers where I can purchase wool batting. I've started doing some research to learn more about wool batting vs. roving. Sounds like batting is the better way to go for needle felting. My local craft stores only sell roving so I'll likely find the batting online. Thanks again - Looking forward to more of your tutorials in the future.
