  • This is a song from "Surfing the Cyberwave", by The UltraViolet Catastrophe (AKA UVC) from 1992.
    The album is available here:

I am Einar Ask, and in the process of making that album, I made heavy use of the Yamaha QY10 sequencer because I had limited time as a full time worker with a long commute and a young family. And the QY10 fit in my pocket.
To make that album, my procedure was to work independently and then bring MIDI files back to Steve's studio and we all could work on completing the song.
I would eat my sandwich as I walked out to the end of the NW dock at Fishermen's Terminal in Seattle and by the time I got there I had eaten and was ready to start punching in a new song on the QY10. While I worked on this song I sat there at the edge dangling my feet over the pier, in the shadow of the boat right next to me. It was called the "Arctic Rose". So, before I had lyrics, the working title was "Arctic Rose".
Sadly, the Arctic Rose sank with all aboard perishing, and this song has continued to haunt me. Commercial fishing is dangerous. I feel for all involved. I am glad that the lyrics I wrote (before the sinking) were about love.
