    Lifts & Dumps on each axle is DEFINITELY BEST on either SPREAD or CLOSED TANDEMS!!!!!! I PREFER SPREADS do to higher weight tolerances. Certain ppl have to knw how to pull spreads

      Yes you need a little more experience with a spread I had several flatbeds they all had 10.1.spread axles on air ,worked out great as long as the driver knew how to use the dump valve.

    To save the tires on a spread axle, do what tmc does. Order it with a dump for tbe rear axle. They flip it just before they turn and flip it back when straightening out. Dumps in seconds apparently from what o e of their drivers told me. And helps turn tighter.

    If you get a lift axle on the spread axle and you would be able to reduce tire wear if the driver lift the axle during tight turns it will also be easier to maneuver without all the scrubbing. #flatbed gang

    I had 2 sptead axle trailers over the years. One had one axle on bags so I could drop the air from in the cab, the other was springs with a long equalizer beam. I didn't like either one. Tires drug around, and it was hard on the suspension something always needing attention. And the one with the air axle, the drivers always screwed up and blew tires because they just couldn't get it,,,,,, I ended up putting a slider under one, and a fixed under the other.

    That new trailer would look good with 154 pulling it. Spread is better for road use, close tandem is probably better for what y'all do, if you got a spread it needs a lift axle when empty and a dump for corners when your loaded plus there cooler 👍😎 all we use is spread but not pulling nearly the weight your pulling so I would have to agree with you on the closed tandem. Thanks for sharing

      NY only allows steerable lift axles and the controls have to be outside of the cab.

    its no getting around the fact spread is harder on everything , but a driver that has a dump valve that can bleed of some pressure during tight low speed turns will help alot with tire wear and the loading up and binding of the whole trailer. you just need to be sure to put air back to it . have you thought of putting odometers on your trailer axles to track maintenance i think they are about $75-$100 for the bracket and odometer . im pretty sure stemoco sells them

    It’s pretty rare to see a 2 axle belt trailer where I’m from in Washington state. Everything 3 or 4 axles.
    4 axle trucks with 4 axle trailers are the most common.

    Just Bring That Trailer Over To New England,Boston,Massachusetts. I’ll Never Give It Up !!!! I Love ❤️ It Even With The tandems in the rear !!! It’s the only way to ride heavy !!! And as far as waiting for your trailer to come around ??? Know your Trailer !!! It’s Not A Toy 🧸 ??? Man I Love That Trailer !!! Justin,I got 8 months left in my diesel course through electrical and fuel ⛽️ system’s;not to mention over 30 years in hauling Dump Trailer’s,Demolition Dump Trailer’s-as well as Trash Trailer’s Flatbed’s-Lowboy’s . Now I seen a few companies that stand out taking care of their equipment ???? But not what you seem to put into your equipment throughout the vehicles-in house shop !!! It’s really impressive to me a person that knows the Value of taking care of your equipment !!! On and off the Road !!! Even your down time,what you do ??? If any of the companies I’ve worked for in the past and right now !!! I would be there 24/7 !!! Hell one of these days I got to meet you and see what Disneyland looks like. Ha ha ha And by the way,You Just Can’t Seem To Leave Those Arrows Head Sleeper’s Alone ??? You’re always coming up with one or a story ??? What do you do ??? Dream 🛌 About Them At Night ???

    You’ve likely talked about this before, but what is your opinion on a belt trailer VS walking floor? For sake of argument lets say they have the same specs minus the obvious belt floor/walking floor. My boss has a belt trailer that just sits, he says its to heavy and he doesn’t like it.

    • @flintcreektransport
      @flintcreektransport  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A walking floor is def more versatile …. But def requires a lil more hand work …. The western belts are lighter than out aluminum walking floors. Not sure how the belt is so heavy

    Can you not get self-tracking rear axles over there. Much cheaper and lighter than a steered axle, but from European experience, you get about 30% better tyre mileage and also a small fuel saving, plus they follow much better turning on the front axle. They lock automatically in when reverse is selected.

    • @averyw.3939
      @averyw.3939 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can get tracking axles on trucks and trailers in N.A. I've usually heard them called steerable axles even though they aren't actually steerable, they just track like a shopping cart. True steerable axles seem to be pretty rare here, mostly just specialty heavy haul. I haven't seen any that lockout the steering in reverse but they're always drop axles so you either have to remember to pick up the axle or some trucks automatically raise the axle in reverse.

    • @flintcreektransport
      @flintcreektransport  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No good for backing up. They always have been an issue for the few that I see

    • @acd1202
      @acd1202 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @flintcreektransport you need to get some proper ones, BPW or Jost. They take their signal from reversing lights, the axle centres and locks, no problems backing up.

    • @averyw.3939
      @averyw.3939 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@acd1202 Most air brake trailers here aren’t wired with reverse lights, just small trailers with electric or hydraulic surge brakes that have a reverse circuit.

    • @acd1202
      @acd1202 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @averyw.3939 it's 2024, the usa needs to get its act together and start catching up with the rest of the world. What you're saying does make sense because I believe you still only have one electrical suzie. In Europe, we've had three for thirty years now. One which covers what yours does, one for reversing lights, rear fog lights, internal trailers lights and whatever else you want to fit, reversing cameras etc and a third one for the ABS system which is controlled by the tractor and lifting axles etc.
