I was pruning yesterday and realized I loaned my loppers to my grandson. I will probably never see them again.....so I could sure use a new one. Already chased my neighbors chickens out of the garden and picked my first cucumber...and it’s raining. It’s a great day!

Thank you, Laura, for asking. My day has been going splendid. I had a bit of a rough past 2 weeks with my grandma passing away from cancer at age 94, so I thought going out and working in the garden would help with the healing process. I found that getting my hands dirty and adding some late summer color to the gardens really helped lighten my day. The hydrangeas blooming in my garden reminded me of the giant snowball hydrangeas that were at my grandmas house. Her kindness and generosity always gave me joy. In many ways, her personality reminds me of what you are doing on your TH-cam channel. Your kindness and generosity has brought so many people in the plant community together. Thank you!
I’ve been watching Laura’s channel for a year and decided to start gardening. I’ve gotten so many compliments on my yard. The other day, my neighbor said they gave directions to their house by saying they live next door to the professional gardener! That is so funny. Every time I hear the word “loppers,” I think of my parents who, for some reason, called them “loopers.” 😆 I also think of them any time I’m in my gardens. Dad was the veggie king, Mom the flower queen. I miss having their advice, but I still talk to them when I’m gardening.

Oh yes! I remember my grandparents when I garden! My grandpa was so excited to grow his few tomato plants. He would have us smell his REAL tomatoes because the store bought ones didn’t smell as good as his. Gramma loved her azaleas and rhododendrons. I live in the house where they lived. I think they’d be proud of how I take care of it.

I found you during lock down, and "we" eat lunch together every day. So far in my day my husband and I spent the morning helping to set up our 2 1/2 yr old grandson's big boy room. Like you, his mommy is having a baby in the fall. Would love the lopers, but I live on the east coast of Canada, just wanted to send blessings and thank you so much for your wonderfully positive content ! I was so inspired that I revamped all my flower beds, it has been an exciting spring.

I'm the sneaker regarding our trees. My husband doesn't like to trim them up because he likes the visual block they provide. But I HATE walking under trees and having them snarl up my hair! Especially if I have to mow under them.

Had a busy morning, watered all the multiple flower beds by hand. Then loaded up the plants I dug up a few days earlier and delivered them to a friend for her yard. Always a good feeling to share extra plants with others in need. Had two trees removed and now can see that lots more areas need pruning. It is a jungle this time of year. Love my yard, it is a work in progress as well as a labor of love. Your projects give me inspiration. Thank you so much.

I wonder if it is just a 'man' or 'husband' thing, as mine too is an 'over cutter'. Though, sometimes when I've been upset by his overcutting I have to agree with it later when the new growth flushes out and it does look nicer. Hard to admit he was right, so sometimes I might not...it just 'slips my mind' lol. :)
When I prune with my son I use a long
“pointing stick” and place it where I want the cut. He’s learned a lot! Would love to give him the Felco pruners for his wedding in 3 weeks.

My husband and I just started watching your channel a little over 3 months ago and you've inspired us to start gardening and renovating our yard. We literally broke our cheap loppers TODAY as we've been limbing trees and cutting roots in order to prepare our new garden beds. We LOVE your channel and are so thankful for your videos!!
I would say that pruning and knowing when to prune has been the hardest skill for me to learn.
I have found it is the part most learners hesitate to actually put into practice.
My day went well! I got a little cleaning done, had a good walk with the dog, and am enjoying a new fairy garden. 😊 By the way, I would loooooove to win the loppers...😁
On an unrelated note, I have to say, after the video recently where you announced the pregnancy and mentioned past issues with a previous pregnancy, I didn't notice the thumbnail for this video at first, just saw the title, "This Can't Be Good," and my heart was in my throat when I clicked play! I was thinking, Oh, NOOOOOOO!!!! So my vote is that during the pregnancy, please don't title the videos with ominous things... lol! 🤣 But in all seriousness, the split tree is very sad! But for us viewers, I guess some good comes of it because we get to see what new and beautiful things you will do with Versailles even sooner! 😍

ME too! And we just, two weeks back, had to cut down a beloved pine. IT was planted by my Husbands Grandmother and we only noticed it had passed, the bores got it, after 80 years! IT was sad to see it go, BUT now a big section of the trunk is a new 'seat' round our firepit! And of course we'll enjoy the outdoor fires from it for a couple Summers anyway. Have to make lemonade, they say :)

I spent the morning taking my girls to see some boykin pups. I spent the rest of my afternoon cleaning up my garden beds and watering my freshly planted daylilies that I put in my moon garden! You have given me such inspiration with ALL my flower beds.. thank you!!!!! 🌼
