Finally checked this place out. They've changed a lot of the endcap games, I'm assuming because they get a lot of play and break down more often. Simpsons was changed to a trackball game with a clown catching balloons, Gauntlet was changed to a Blitz/Showtime dual cabinet (might've just been a PCB swap, since I think it's the same hardware). A few games were broken/off, a lot of controls were sticky, probably from food and drink - exactly what you were afraid of. Also, that Ice game is actually a music game called Rhythm Nation. Not sure what the Ice logo is about. Maybe the developer?
Oh interesting idea! My wife would LOVE that. She loves Halloween, loves dressing up but I'm a stick in the mud and don't usually like to participate. My birthday is Halloween so maybe we'll do a fun stream this year!

I live off lamar here in austin so its more or less a 10 min drive for me awesome staff and the game selection is amazing if you're into 90's fighters also the pizza and beer is great
I need to do another video tour since the games have changed a decent amount. I like their drinks and pizza! You're lucky to live close to it. I went a few weeks ago and saw a massive line outside. I didn't even bother.

Thanks! I think they go to arcade auctions. I hadn't heard of them until I found this: th-cam.com/video/7QbIvadjouI/w-d-xo.html. That channel is for an arcade chain I go to in Dallas. I'd assume this is the most efficient and cheapest ways to get them. Then their techs get them to working condition for the arcade. I'd love to go to one of those auctions one day.
I'm so happy to have something like this closer to me. Its only an hour drive for me as opposed to driving to Dallas which is usually 4 hours. I would drive there just for the day to play at one of their many local arcades. 8 hours in a car just to play arcade games, that's dedication haha.

a lot of those machines look like converted Williams cabinets.. Their Tetris and 1943 were originally a Robotron.. The Ghost and Goblins and Sonic the hedgehog are both Joust cabinets.
Interesting, I don’t know much about the older cabinets. I didn’t get in to arcades until around 1993 lol. But I do love learning about them and seeing all of these older cabs I never heard of before.
I haven't been in one since January. I've wanted to go, mainly to support them so they can survive the virus shut downs. Its just felt too risky for the most part. I probably can't go back here for a while unless I get there when they open to avoid any crowds.

I'm going to make the trip out there when they're open! I love that these places are making a come back and the pricing is far more fair than paying per game. I've always thought that about the joystick placement haha. I'm guessing it was intentional since its incredibly obvious and the game was made primarily by younger men. I'm sure they all had a good laugh when designing it.

Kinda surprised a new arcade would have an ITG2 Dedicab, those are quite rare and expensive due to a lawsuit that forced Roxor to stop the production on those cabinets.

Tapper does not have Simpsons characters, that was a hack that was done. The original did not have any of the characters in it.
