So update on mine I followed the instructions and it worked I already taped the aux cord to the motherboard thank you so much for helping me in the last videos comments:)
Modding the HasLab pack is fun for us DIYers out there - and a lot of the thousands of us who bought them are doing it - and sharing how. Instead of the wire connectors you crimped onto the (black and red) USB wires, an alternative could be small alligator clips - but either would work! Good job on the painted yellow wire sleeving, it looks just like the neon yellow sleeving with black tracer they are selling out there. It was a great idea to use sandpaper to get a little of the hastily applied weathering off to make it look more realistic. I agree about the ribbon cable - they used a heavy coat of black wash on it, to the point where you can barely tell it has multi-colors . . . Another pack modder used some Scotch-brite (the rough/abrasive side of a regular kitchen sponge) with a little isopropyl rubbing alcohol to buff off some of the ribbon cable weathering, but your method worked real well too. . . . Real excellent is the painted wires coming from the vacuum hose in the upper right area of the pack. Before you said you'd painted them, I thought you had used actual wires (after cutting away the non-painted exposed molded wiring)! I have made a few mods to my own pack, and I'll do a few more before I'm satisfied. One good source I've used is the Adam Savage video where he upgrades his own HasLab pack, from reference photos he took of the actual production pack which he had had in his studio: th-cam.com/video/a727MV1HrmY/w-d-xo.html . Another good reference source is the GB Reference Library. Amazing shots of the actual production hero packs: www.theghostbustersreferencelibrary.com/ghostbusters-afterlife . Awesome collectible area you have there in your basement - everything is well laid out and lit, looks like it would be a fun place to visit and soak in the nostalgia . . . and I agree with you, all of it is art, absolutely! Thank you..its awesome to see everyone diving into this pack in their own way..im just hoping I can help a few folks out with some easier mods...thx for watching glad u could stop by!
I did the aux cord mod as you stated in your first vid and I love it so much. Same setup, put the speaker behind the kidney pad in the frame. I did take a lighter and heated up a small screwdriver and pressed it against the opening where your aux cord comes out to create a channel for it, otherwise it's being pinched. I also didn't want to choose between the pack audio and playing music so I got a small JBL speaker that fits perfectly into the side panel that opens to play music via Bluetooth on that one regardless of the pack sounds.
Thats awesome that speaker fits in the side door! Glad I could help..also good call on keeping the wire from pitching I may revisit opening the pack to see if I need to do that as well..thx for watching!
I did as you did, created a small channel for the wire to pass through, but instead of a heated screwdriver, I took bolt cutters and managed to finely snip the edges inside the pack of where the stock kidney pad straps would pass through, and it worked out just fine for me. The JBL Flip 4 speaker mod literally brought my pack to another level! I also did dgraves22's magnets upgrade on the wand side, and I very much prefer that to a screen accurate v-hook or dixie cup bracket
Hey man, thanks for the vid. I'm new to the mod world, so your vids definitely help with my pack. Also, I haven't seen a talk boy since I had one as a kid! Love your room, bro
Thx bro glad I could help! Yea collect a lot of different things from the past that I had or always wanted growing up..I'll share more soon...thx for watching!
Thanks for the great channel mate, subscribed! Great work on these mods and the best part is definitely the simple side of things. I bought my haslab to compliment my scratchbuilt pack that took ten years to do, hey, I like to take my time. The haslab isuch better for cons as its more robust and able to take the bumps and knocks of walking around a convention. I've done a lot of more complex mods on other things, but I really also wanted to mod the haslab for sound and power...but without a major tear down. Thanks a lot for showing us how to do this!
Thanks for the advice! Both mods were solid and works perfectly. Only change I made was I used my old JBL Go 2 speaker. Fits perfectly in the hidden compartment.
Well I guess as long as the red and black wires are in there it's worth a try if that's all you have laying around and you don't need the cable..but no I'm not sure what the other functions of that cable are...thx for watching tho!
@deadpoolsmultiverse9157 intresting..I think I remember having to really push those metal tabs in with a bit of force but mine seem pretty sturdy as a wore my pack trick or treating with no power issues..sorry your having trouble..you my just want to solider the connections if possible
So I only screw down the top screw on the battery door leaving the bottom of the door loose enough so the cord wouldn't be pinched...im sure if u wanted you could drill a small hole in the door before you put the connectors on but im trying to not drill any holes in mine if possible...thx for watching!
One way would be to put the stock battery door away in the box, after using it as a template to cut a piece of sheet styrene to make your own battery door, which you could put as many holes in as you need . . . Alternatively, you could get a lithium battery that would fit inside the battery cavity and run the wires accordingly. So many choices to mod it the way you see fit!
@@la4sho23 its all good i know what it mean to get the watch hrs you need.. lol I am almost there myself. i got to see what i was looking for so no problem here either. get in touch with us on twitter or FB maybe we can collaborate sometime, we do alot of nerd talk and such :)
So mine I have to start up with the pack then when when I power up the wand I can power it on and off with the wand...one of my power packs will power it off within like 20 seconds but then when I hit the power button on the battery it will stay on..also I really had to wedge those metal connectors in the battery terminals good so its possible that could be your issue...hopefully you get it but worse case I guess you still can use the D batteries..thx for watching

Thank you very much. Loved the last instruction on aux cable. I'm gonna drill through the battery door and put the wires through.
Hey no problem thx for a watching!

Connect a multiple usb splitter to add more mods. Ordered mine to connect to the power pack.
Yea it would be nice to find like a usb device that produced smoke for the overheat affect that you could control remotely...thx for watching!

And yes I'm sure I'll check out you're other 80s content in the future, your also a great presenter!

Hey no problem I'm glad this could help..thx for bearing with all the rambling I did in this one..I had a couple beverages before I hit record lol
Thanks for the advice! Both mods were solid and works perfectly. Only change I made was I used my old JBL Go 2 speaker. Fits perfectly in the hidden compartment.
Awesome glad I could help and that's great that speaker fits in the door! Thx for watching!
Thank you for making this video. I just did the mod to my pack, so happy to be rid of those D batteries.
Oh great glad to help! Thx for watching!
Subscribed and liked and also appreciate the help with your mods
Thx for watching and subing glad I could help!
I love it man, nice work, you just yourself another subscriber.
Aw thx glad I could help and I really appreciate it..that for watching and subscribing!
Hell yeah man, so far this is the easiest way to go about it. I’m going to do this mod this week.
Now the JBL GO2 is more than adequate siz and sound that can fit inside the side case. Bluetooth and alll
Nice I might get 1 and run a aux from the wand to get that sound louder as well!..thx for watching!
awesome worked i subscribed
Thx I appreciate it..glad it helped
What if the USB cord has multiple colors like purple, green, yellow and blue?
Is that more for a computer for visual?
Well I guess as long as the red and black wires are in there it's worth a try if that's all you have laying around and you don't need the cable..but no I'm not sure what the other functions of that cable are...thx for watching tho!
I couldn't wedge the wires with the clips to the battery area. The clips won't stay in place.

Thanks, will keep trying...
I just did the power upgrade and I was wondering how you ran the cord and close the battery compartment
So I only screw down the top screw on the battery door leaving the bottom of the door loose enough so the cord wouldn't be pinched...im sure if u wanted you could drill a small hole in the door before you put the connectors on but im trying to not drill any holes in mine if possible...thx for watching!

Hi!
Can I just confirm one detail, the battery pack output is 5 volts?
Thanks.😉
Yep I think most of these packs output 5 volts...thx for watching!
Tried this and I can't power it with the wand on, it just dies. Tried 2 different power banks and neither one will do it.
