      I was a 5'7" MALE volleyball player/fanatic through high school, college, and beyond (coached/captained/managed/etc) as both a setter AND OH. I know what it's like to walk in Gillen's shoes... you feel EXTRA motivated to prove that you belong on that court, and in that position by working fanatically hard to improve your vertical leap, and just be the very best in every skill and facet of the game. Mad respect for this girl.

    • @2200Z

      I think that's something in John Cook's head... for some reason. There are five freshmen and Merritt that didn't know anything about Wisconsin until a couple of months ago. If Nebraska plays to their capability, they'll beat Pitt and the winner of the Wisconsin/Texas game. There's no writing on the wall saying that Texas won't beat Wisconsin.

      @@2200Z Size vs size (I take it back. Texas is pretty quick, lol) your not wrong. Yet its hard not to see a big ten finals. In that case idk if its a Cook thing as much as it is philosophy. Speed and agility vs size and power. And in this case Wisc seems to have the NE formula. But hey NE did it once.

      Nebraska has one transfer and zero seniors. Wisconsin outside of Smrek is a team full of mercenaries. They have a load of talent but something stinks about transferring to an in conference rival.

      @@joebaumann6646 I was speaking in reference to @jdchatelain222 's "Wisconsin conundrum" for Nebraska coaches and players. Beason wouldn't have had anything in her head yet about Nebraska not being able to beat Wisconsin until she arrived here in Nebraska. Especially if she had a win against Wisconsin as a Florida player. If Nebraska meets Wisconsin, hopefully - as a team captain - she can use her two wins against Wisconsin as motivation for her team.

    With the exception of the 2nd set, this was a close match. Nebraska is not as dominant as people might think. Yeah, they had only 1 loss to Wisconsin, but it was a friggin 3-0 SWEEP, and at the very end of the season. I'd only consider them SLIGHT favorites to win the championship.

      I agree with u. Coach should never have put a newbie on the line on such a big point, on such a big stage. She's cold, not in the flow of things at all, probably nervous as all hell. These seniors have dedicated 4+ yrs to this team. Put the ball in THEIR hands to win or lose, not some non-starter who's been sitting on the bench practically the whole game/season.

      @djbenje4019 you obviously haven’t been watching Arkansas very closely. Jada Lawson had been a serving specialist for a while now, and especially during the tournament. She came in clutch with an ace in the 5th set against Kentucky. The girl she served for was a middle who hadn’t been serving in game for a good while. Obviously Jada should’ve made her serve in but it wasn’t like the coach looked down at the bench and picked a random scrub to serve for the match. He was sticking to the rotation that got him so far.

      I don't know. I used to be a huge fan of hers when I saw her in the international U19/U18 tournaments. But with all her high ambitions (to join the US National Team), and all the hype she got entering Nebraska, she's really disappointed. Yes, she has flashes of brilliance or impressive hits/plays, but they're quite few and far between. Her hitting % has been abysmal for the tournament, and even throughout the season. She just doesn't have that special 'terminator' quality to her, which is what so many teams, ESPECIALLY the National Team are sorely in need of (Nebraska was TOTALLY lacking a terminator last year). Maybe, MAYBE if she some day decides to work her @ss off in the gym, and on her vertical leap, she could be something special. But at this point, I think Nebraska might actually benefit from replacing her with someone who knows how to put the ball away and not make so many service errors (I believe she led the team in that category this season).

    • @KolinHoopes
      @KolinHoopes 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Murray has kind of been a disappointment, dare I say in the same vein as Lexi Sun? She’s not a terminator. She looked her best during their spring match hitting all out and it was really pretty, but this fall she’s been way too dependent on tools and placement instead of power. Looking at the best of the best like Foeke, Plummer, Eggleston, Franklin, Kipp and Skinner, they just bring the heat in a way that Murray doesn’t. She’s already underperformed seeing that she was the #1 recruit in her class and ended up being 3rd team all American while Babcock took 1st team and freshman of the year.

      Agreed. So many teams/players this season seem to NOT GET IT when it comes to service errors. The ball is in your hands, and COMPLETELY under your control (like 'ball-in-hand' in pool). And there are situations where you ABSOLUTELY DO NOT want to miss your serve (right after your opponent calls time-out, or when you're facing match point or any other critical point). I guess some players/coaches/teams just have to learn the hard way.
