    Great video Dave. This is my favourite area of the Lakes too. It’s one of the best views of the Lake District from the Birker fell road. I was walking near Devoke water last year and did not see anyone.

    Have loved your films around Devoke Water over the last year Dave.
    It just looks so tranquil and has a different feel to other parts of the Lakes.
    You obviously love it there and it comes through in this film.
    Calm, chilled and always in control. Just what we like👍

    As always nothing to complain about 🎉. A lonesome tarn, barren countryside, a perfect sunset and great views from the drone over Hobbit land.
    Thank you for not showing the boat house up close. Boat houses give me the creeps.
    Last time I slept in a tent was 1985 and I was eight months pregnant 😅. Never camped before so far as I remember, or after.
    I don't have a favourite place, but if
    I could have a last wish fulfilled, I would like to be at Blea Tarn looking toward the Langdale Pikes and have a choir there singing Jenkin's Benedictus.
    Take care.

    What a great camp, I think it's great that you had the second night without filming. If I'm honest that must be a bit of a bind sometimes. Just read some of the comments and it's clear we all enjoy the effort you put in doing, filming and of course the editing. You introduced us to this area through the films and we love it... Thank You ATB Sel and Tracey

    You’re right about Hilleberg, tried MLD, Tarp Tent, but now I use my Akto for winter, and the Enan for 3 season, they’re both fab, and apart from using an MLD Tarp now and a gain I don’t think they can be beaten. Great porch for cooking with a meths stove the fly coming down to the ground blocking the wind! I’ve also got an original Akto I bought in 1997, the leather patch model and it’s still weather worthy!

    This is an area I’ve also camped before. Agree on both the bogginess and quietness! Parking is easy (and free!) and it’s an easy walk, so would be ideal for the winter. I’m also a petrolhead Dave and have three cars, one of which is a BMW M340d which averages around 49 to the gallon long term, but regularly does 53 on the motorway!

    Hi Dave. I’ve also owned my fair share of tents and I agree re Hilleberg quality. The only tent I have had which is equal, if not better, in terms of quality is my Samaya Assaut 8k. The only downside is its price. But I sold other tents once I got it as I knew I wouldn’t be using them again I now “only” have 3. A nallo 2, a Jannu and the Samaya. Great video as always mate 👍

    So it must have been you we passed on the motorway, tootling along slowly behind a lorry! What's more we stopped at Forton Services just afterwards. Great camp, I can see why you love that area, always good to be near the edge of a range. We have found that views from the lower fells tend to be really good. Not sure what my favourite place in the Lakes is, Langdales?, Wasdale?, Northern Fells? Dont know!

    Another smashing job you have done again with this video Dave 👌. Re Tent Quality and the Hilleberg Brand, i totally agree 100% Hilleberg are the Mercedes of the Tent industry in every sense. They cover all bases just like Mercedes does from performance to customer service. One thing i have noticed though is that over the past 3 to 4 years since Wild Camping has gotten more and more popular is that a lot of the other Brands whose quality and performance and customer service are nowhere close to Hillebergs is that they have started to up their prices and a lot of them are not far off Hillebergs prices which is totally unjustifiable in my opinion because as you quite rightly pointed out Hilleberg are simply the Best. Saying that after owning 8/9 Hillebergs i am down to the Unna and Nammatj 2 which I have only owned for almost 2 years and I haven't given them a massive amount of use yet because i keep going back to my Lightwave Sigma, more so the S15 and more recently the S20. These 2 tents are not in the same class as the Hillebergs in terms of strength and durability but for the weight and amount of space plus the packed volume, Dryability ( How quick they dry out) and condensation control they are in a class of their own and I mean that 100%. Given our climate, I am baffled as to why they are not more popular, especially in the UK. Because i like them so much I am seriously considering buying a spare S20 just in case they ever stop producing them. There are occasions when you need to give them a bit of a hand with condensation management but all that is, is just a quick wipe-over once during prolonged heavy rain. Due to the dark colours of the materials used, they do dry out incredibly quickly

    • @ShaunYoung-i3j
      @ShaunYoung-i3j 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Will have to check the Lightwave tents Olan as I'm after a new tent ( are they 4 season at a push ? ) .
      Saw your and Going Solo review of the Nemo Tensor Extreme mat , you was right it's an excellent choice and a good recomendation

    • @Olan...
      @Olan... 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@ShaunYoung-i3j Thanks for watching my videos 👍Yeah, i would say 4 season but I wouldn't want to push them on a summit camp if the winds were going to be stronger than 35-40mph. If i can manage to get some 10mm poles, I will be selling my Unna simply because the Lightwaves pack up to much smaller and are obviously much lighter although its that lightness that means that they are no match for Hilleberg Soulo and Nammatj.....i would definitely recommend getting an extra guy out point for the middle of the sil nylon section on both the S15 and S20 , It makes a big difference, i have attached a bungee cord to them on a guyline tensioner so that i can pull it out further to aid ventilation into the vestibule area or just peg it down tight when the conditions dictate

    I got the Black Label Soulo last year and I love it. They reckon if u have the red label already, u don’t really need the black label as that will more than cope with our weather as you’ve already proved, but if u don’t own a Soulo, then spend the extra and get the Black. Really nice area that Dave and you caught the sunrise in the cloud beautifully.

    i think we are all petrol heads at heart. my love comes from an early exposure to two stroke motorbikes. as to why no one goes there i think the answer is simple for you proper youtubers. winds are a shy of what is required by at least 80-90mph, and it's hard to get the £350 folding ebike (link in the description ) up there. great video as always Dave, hope your 100% better soon.

    that was a great camp Dave, with beautiful views. as far as tents go, because of a few other TH-camrs and how they brag about they're hilleberg tents and how better and more expensive they are , and all others are second rate. I hate those tent more than anything else . I wouldn't trade my Walmart tents for 10 hillebergs . Also my go-to 4 season tent is an 18 year old US ARMY LITEFIGHTER tent that has been in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan and it's still in excellent condition. I would like to see a hilleberg tent do that, and I only paid 80 dollars for it.
