Nice. Had fun with the two civ videos and started looking. Was disappointed to see that your last video was 6 months ago, but it's good to see you're starting up again.
The deepest loss I've ever experienced was getting a Great Engineer and picking a shiny Wonder to spend it on. But, because every civilization takes their turn before the Players, someone built it first anyway.
"Not literally *within* my borders, but within where I would like my borders to be" is one of the most on-brand things for France-in-strategy-games I've ever heard. Vive la Big Blue Blob!
It's funny, and that's the problem. Quality content often gets buried by "go viral" attempts people make, copying and resharing others ideas that already proved themselves.
@Kyle Leverence cuz animations are cool. If the animations are too distracting then why not go a step further and just get rid of the graphics too? Just play in strategic view the whole time then
Yeah... the AI on Deity basically get to start so far ahead in every conceivable way, as well as not being punished for spamming cities. Focusing on growth (Food + Tradition) getting to Education for Universities and closing the tech gap as soon as possible is generally a must.
The way to win on Deity is to pick Attila and Zerg rush the AI. The AI is stupid and does not understand how to use their units, how OP ranged units are, or the fact that seeing Attila = bad. They will build out their cities with wonders that you immediately conquer.
That's why I like to just start several techs ahead, just to flex on the AI. They've pissed me off one to many times in the past. Now, it is I who shall be pissing on THEM.
3:35 This is exactly what Civ is missing. The ability to declare territory within your control even if you do not have an actual border there. That makes it easy to know when you are going to piss off one of the AIs and when you can tell the AI that its settler is too close.
You can request that the AI do not settle next to you but they will probably decline. When you hover over a city name it shows you how far it's borders will expand. If the potential borders of your new city overlap the AI's they will get pissed about it. If not they don't
Yeah, Deity is a dumb. I beat Gandhi on a duel map as Isabella to get that achievement out of the way. Then I played on Emperor for a bit, now I just play on Prince and listen to podcasts while playing, having a much better time with that. I like your style.
I think Prince and King are by far the best difficulty settings. Above and you get ridiculous AI bonus that makes the game way too tedious and you can lose a war despite being technologically and numerically superior to a foe without any real mistake on your part, just because the ai gets too many ridiculous buffs. King is as far as I'm willing to go in terms of handicaps, above is just a mess
The best civ to play against on Deity if you want the easy win is Venice in a game where the only victory condition allowed is domination. OH and make sure to set city states to 0.
For me, I got the achievement by starting on archipelago world as the Polynesians with Venice as my opponent lmao. Even then, it still wasn't easy. I had to build a massive fleet to conquer them. I'm used to more 'small strike teams' with only 4-6 units to capture a city. Not whole armies.
This is why I don’t blame people for not wanting to play on deity. Like most games the AI seems to get mega cheats and just straight up out produces you. Also players usually call you terrible at the game for not being able to win on the hardest difficulty.
You have one advantage over the AI though, your brain. Being able to win at the highest difficulty does show a level of skill in the game. Or knowledge of exploitable cheese.
@@CarrotConsumer it’s cheese. If you need to give the AI cheats to make the game artificially hard the vast majority of the time you are going to win through cheese.
@@kekero540 absolutely you can only win through cheese, either taking advantage of the AI's terrible unit management in battles or hoarding scientists then leaping forwards in tech at the late game to achieve a science victory or spamming stealth bombers and x-com units to achieve domination
Emperor is the sweet spot for me, not too much AI cheating that pisses me off so much that turns me into a murder hobo Domination Victory focused CIV in every game, but not too easy that I literally start watching TH-cam videos as I press my auto win button going for Culture or Diplomatic victory. DEITY just pisses me off with how much buffs they get, I can win but when I win, I murder the AI, no mercy, even after I won a tech victory I will press one more turn so I can be nuke happy.
How to easily beat Civ on deity : - play against ONE Venice with no city states - as soon as possible, cover their entire surface with roads to cripple their economy and science
Civilization difficulty in a nutshell - How much more free stuff does the AI get on top of what it cheats with already. Also your people are sad for no reason lmao.
I understand this pain all too well. It was sad, but also funny, but mainly sad. I am only here to pay respects for the tragic theft of the Hanging Gardens. I was brought here by TH-cam's random algorithm.
Deity Mode AI supposedly has like 140% bonuses to all resources, but that is bullshit. Upon testing, the AI has no limit to number of units they can spawn as long as their food number is greater than 0. Best way to beat it is to get the steam tools Civ 5 map maker and make a small map with set spawn points. Spawning on small maps ignores start bias, meaning players spawn in order from bottom right to top left. Just set the AI to spawn higher up than the player on a desolate foodless tundra. I used this to troll my friends once, as player 1 always spawns in first you can use the same trick on them, and it might take them quite awhile to realize you spawned on hills of bountiful resources while they got a single grass tile.
Also the Japanese AI is one of the most aggressive and deceptive nations in civ so I knew that they were gonna attack him as soon as he settled remotely close to them
It could have been the Netherlands and I would have known what happens when a deity AI spots the player trying to settle next to El Dorado. Japan on deity truly lives up to its WWII reputation, too. They just never stop fighting.

yeah ai starts with the first 4 techs unlocked, 2 settlers 2 warriors a scout and 2 workers. i got lucky once and spawned very far from any of the AI, but boudicca and ramkhamhaeng had stealth bombers and closed in on me in ~1410 and i just quit after that.

That's a wonderful way of describing it, bravo!

The one who beat you to wonder was probably Hiawatha, that damn wonder lunatic. He would build wonders when I was one turn away from getting it.
