    I had my eye on a 8x20 first but someone beat me to it. I bought a 8x16 then with ac in the ceiling and a 110 box already. Your trailer is well thought out and simple. I use a $50 fake fireplace for my heater and am planning to add a Mr Buddy because I have propane for hot water already. I too carry my motorcycle along so I did my build around it initially. Thx for sharing, R

    Nice job. I would have gone a similar rout if I didn't make mine to carry my quad. This is why I went with fold up beds. We generally are boondocking it when we are quading and so we are set up with an outside kitchen and portable tent and toilet. Keeping in mind we do own a travel trailer as well but for a few years the cargo trailer was also the travel trailer. Nice job

    You build it to fit your needs, nice job. The only thing that caught my eye is the battery by the propane tanks. If you had an accident the battery could short on the tank and Boom! I would rethink that.

    • @simplebuild9998
      @simplebuild9998  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Maybe I will add a battery box. Most towables have the battery mounted where ours is. Hopefully we will survive. Hey we survived our Midas class C motorhome that would do wheelies whenever you filled the water tank that was behind the rear axle. With it's inadequate brakes and front wheels barely touching the road we made it through by God's grace.

    I would like to know how you made the jack antenna, I like to put that on the side of my house for my outside tv. Very nice video.

    • @simplebuild9998
      @simplebuild9998  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hello - we purchased the Jack antenna 'head' alone. We used a 1-1/4 PVC floor flange to attach to the antenna. We drilled the four bolt pattern from the antenna into the flange. We had to buy small metric screws to fasten the flange to the antenna. Then we took the 1-1/4 pvc pipe (cut to the desired length and cut a hole to fish the coax thru and come out the top. Then we glued it on. Standard all mount conduit clamps secure it to the trailer.

    I was in awe with the work on the outside and then you opened the interior door and 😖 I'm sorry. All the money spent and to not make the inside nice is just puzzling to me is all. Buying a couple futons and clearance or garage sale cabinets would have went a long way.
    But the outdoor build is the best I've seen and I really enjoy seeing what can really be done to these cargo trailers.

    • @simplebuild9998
      @simplebuild9998  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi - Thanks for watching. The interior totally suites us - although it has a way to go as far as adding storage. As with our converted school bus it will develop and change as we use and enjoy it (and as money becomes available). Our converted school bus was done basically the same way. We like open/basic/functional. This build style is not for everyone but on the other hand it's a 2016 that's paid for. Thanks again for watching.

    • @justmejustme4575
      @justmejustme4575 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      that is exactly what I thought. Open the door and all the sudden you think, what a complete waste of money. I looks awful. but the out side is great. Inside, depressing. ULK What a waste.

    • @simplebuild9998
      @simplebuild9998  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The interior is not going to suite everyone. The interesting thing about these cargo trailers is they can be very basic or fancy. I have seen these with well finished interiors (ours is Not) or equipped with only a roof a/c and some cots. You can start simple and start camping fairly quickly and work your way to a finished product. The old saying goes 'anything beats sleeping on the ground' and that saying surely fits cargo trailers as far as comfort. The main point is to go through the various builds and pick and choose what suits you. Thanks for watching!!!!
      Check out Chatfield Court channel for a really NICE interior build.

    What are you towing that 20 footer with ? I like how you kept the wheight down . Did you beef up the brakes ?

    • @simplebuild9998
      @simplebuild9998  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi thanks for asking. The brakes are factory standard and are pretty good. I think everyone wants better brakes on their trailers. You want to make sure the tow vehicle is delivering a true 12VDC to the rear plug on full braking. Too many times the wire gauge is too light in the brake circuit. As far as our tow vehicle we use a 1 ton E350 super duty Ford van V10 engine: 3:73 axle ratio.

    @stevedaniel5928 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey guy
    I think you said it was a 20' trailer and they added 6" to the height!
    I didn't see or hear how wide the trailer is! So if you could tell us how wide the trailer is we would appreciate!
    Thanks

    • @simplebuild9998
      @simplebuild9998  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Steve it is a 7 wide. If your checking trailers out you can generally figure out at a glance - if the fenders stick out it is either a 6 or 7 wide. On the 8' wide the wheels are flush with the sides. We wanted the narrower 7' version. I am not sure if I would order the 6'' additional height again. Would have preferred 2'' or 3'' additional height rather than 6'' - but the 6'' makes it nice for the taller door and higher awning. Thanks for watching

    • @simplebuild9998
      @simplebuild9998  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      it is 86'' from the floor to the highest point in the crown. I ordered it with 6'' additional height. That's all they offered - nothing in-between standard height and +6''. I would have preferred to add only 3''. It is 7' wide instead of the 8' wide. Hope that is helpful.

    hi, had a difficult time hearing you while you were outside as you were talking with your back to the camera or walking away plus the noise outside so I did not catch where in Ohio you got this trailer I'm assuming you bought it new correct? And what did you say that the trailer company did to the trailer before you took possession of it when were there was something about insulation did they do windows what exactly did you have the trailer company do before you got it and completed your work? and what did that cost you for the part that the trailer company did and how much you paid for the trailer this was a great build I really like it interested in doing something like this myself and I live in Ohio so that's a big help too

    • @simplebuild9998

      Turner Trailers in Bellefontaine. They are Great people to deal with. They ordered the trailer with the side wall insulation, the RV door and screen, the two windows, an AC prep package which is the framing to support an A/C. There are also some tie downs. Turner trailers can get you a quote.
