I thought exactly the same thing. I think that rule exists incase someone’s movement around the table drops the ball.
Although I don’t think that happened in this occasion.

I'd say with the exception of the ball stopping and dropping rule, should go back to 5 seconds it was a great final and could have easily gone the other way.

It's funny when this situation occurs in amateur league night, and I go "it was within 5 seconds." And someone is like "that's not the rule anymore'" and I'm like "ok you tell me what happened then" and nobody has any clue. It's literally impossible to judge without a professional ref and slow motion video review.
