Nice, I’ve been prepping my food for a goat hunt and always like new food ideas, what would you say the average weight is for the bagged food portion of your food?
Awesome kids! My question is how much per day? As we know the food that is good for you isn’t cheap. On average how much money per day for food? Have a great season Dan!
Hey Dan. Love the content. I know you addressed eating enough calories. Are you tracking macros at all? Is there a certain gram of protein per day you are trying to pack/consume while elk hunting? Thanks
I like to get about 1 gram per LB but that can be difficult. I don't go overboard with tracking macros. I focus more on getting total calories and making sure it is stuff I will want to eat when I am out there. I also keep some extra snacks at the truck that may not be great for packing but I will look forward to eating when I get back to the truck. I also keep protein drinks at the truck so I can crush some protein when I get back to the truck.
I make my own version of the Ramen bomb...I have used Idaho instant potatoes in some of my meals. You can save some money on some home made backcountry meals.
If you want to bump up your calories without a weight penalty, chia seeds and hemp hearts sprinkled into your peak refuel after it cooks does wonders. Theyre HUGE calorie to weight bombs.
Appreciate this one ElkMan.
You bet!

Have you ever tried any of the backpacking cook meals (knorr, mashed potato, Ramin bombs). Would like to hear your tack since I think it could save $$

Everything is in plastic bags and is semi-finished. I can't believe that anyone can live like this, let alone someone who loves life in nature.
