Nope. Can opener does not work at least for what I'm doing. I need a thick lip at the top so it will keep the inner ring in place. It's the "groove" I was talking about at 5:18. A can opener will cut the top almost to the rim. There's no more space to insert the inner ring in it. If you think about it, a can opener will need to cut it in a way that the top lip wouldn't be too thick or it will get food stuck when you try to pour food (or whatever inside the can) out. I need that top lip to be thick so it would contain the inner ring in it. No can opener would do that or it would defeat the purpose of a can opener. If you don't need to top lip to be thick then yes, a can opener would do it, but not for this project.
@@vuaeco You know I love ya buddy, but the way you're doing it with the Stanley knife is not safe. Besides cutting yourself with the blade should it slip, chip or suddenly cut (!), there's also the risk of getting the meat on your knife-holding hand jammed in the blade retractor lever when it pushes closed (as it did at 1:00). Ask me how I know! LOL Short of a Dremel or Rotozip, the best tool I -can- am able to think of would be the type of can opener on a Swiss Army knife (also, on some older dual bottle/can openers). It follows the curvature of the rim, and you can control the width of the cut by varying the angle. Play safe, my friend.
When you said ONE can, I thought "another one of those who forget the inner wall/vaporisation chambeR"... but then you added it anyway. Nice one man, you deserve more likes than the imposters.
thank you so much for making this video, you explain things really well and don't make it so complicated like other channels. (Also the fact that you lit it using a taser is just hilarious)
Nice video. Thanks for actually talking. So many "how to do" just do pantomime. Oh, the way my family goes through soda using two cans is not a waste of resources. Thanks again.
I found using a using a can opener is the easiest way to remove the top portion of the can. When you use a can opener is a clean-cut. I also use the middle portion as a wind guard. I've even use the top portion that cut out as a means so that you can snuff the stove out or you can use it as a separator in put a piece of call inside in a bit sucks up the fuel that you put in whatever by your choice you can keep the core in the fuel. but having the lid the one thing is using it to snuff out you can slide it across ithe can. I have made dozens ofof these Coke can stove and a few to cut a beer cans from your model period I have just changed it a little bit. I've made a few Penny's toes and you are correct they are not very what I've had to do to get even one it wasn't very beneficial. I then used the accessof the penny stove I used the excess by making a candle holder so I took the two ends of the candle you drink and put thosesealed after bottom you can use that as a candle holder period so I used all parts of the can but to do the candle holder you have to make the which is the bottom of each can. I don't find the penny stove that it's not productive it is more of a problem.
I use one of those keyring can openers to cut it because you got less chance of slicing yourself. Still good video and I'm impressed with using just one can. Thanks for posting!
Use a Vimto can instead. The groove on the top is the same diameter as the groove on the bottom, and will let you use a parallel, rather than tapered, inner wall.
Use books as a height adjustment and a leather man serrated blade by laying the leather man on the book use more or less pages to get a precise height adjustment. I suggest 3.5 centi meters for top and bottom halves. Don't use a can opener it will destroy the top ridge which supplies strength.
instead of cutting out the entire center top, cut out about 2CM or 1" circle. When you light the center alcohol, the flame will heat that lip and transfer to the burner area. Faster priming that way. I wonder if someone has a downloadable template so we can draw it out on the center part of the can and cut to fit. Much easier and more accurate than guessing.
got a pretty good flame no jet lol, little bit of fuel and stayed lit for about a 1/2 hour.( i did hear a hissing sound like it was using part of the jet)
this home made needs too many tools... why no one shows a emergency stove that can be build with trash cans you can find in the street or field and only tool is with a knife
Frank C This can be made with nothing but a sharp camp knife. Use the blade on its side to score the can, use the tip to make holes, use back of blade to crimp bottom for insertion in top during assembly.
Carlos_A_M damn, what happened? You did something like turned it or toppled it or did it explode out of the blue? Good to hear that you're okay though. Thanks for sharing your experience.
It’s the internet dude not a performance space for the new and edgy... Y’know? And I have been looking for decent guides to making on of these alcohol stoves and I wish there were ten thousand to choose from!
Open top is a hazard...if the cane trip off the premises can catch fire. Also do not show your experiments. First practise before taking the video to make it more interesting.. Do not repeat a point many times..
Thanks for letting me know. Some people just click the dislike button without even watching the video. And they never explain why! I appreciate your input.

I see what you mean, my apologies friend.
No worries. I just wanted to clarify. That was a good and quick way to cut it for other types of alcohol stoves though.

I like the way you did that because I thought needed to use two cans. I'm going to try this now.
Use a P-51 camping can opener instead of the utility knife for the top of the can. Much faster.😉👌
You explain it very clearly, better than most. Thanks!

made one following your steps exactly. Thank you sir!
That was a great tutorial. Very efficient and simple. You literally don't need much more than a can and a razor blade.
Sounds like a prison diy video, LOL.
I'm kind of surprised it lit as quickly as shown. That cutter made some big holes. Good job.
You film these on the night time i can here the night
Very good! Very effective. Nice tutorial.

Excellent use from one can and it came to the jet burn pretty quickly to, Many thanks.

Great tutorial friend! Thanks for the vid :)
I made one exactly according to your video and it doesn't work. It won't even light. Any suggestions?
Use alcohol, not water.
Amazing, thanks a lot friend, the best video i have seen related with can stoves
Top tip: turn the inner wall outside in, you'll see the coke logo then.

Is there a way to make the flames turn green without using boric acid or copper sulfate or copper acetate
Can it be used in patrol?
how much alcohol do you need to run this for an hour? how fast does it boil a cup of water?
Will it work with petrol ?
How do you put it out?
Also for the inside just use a mini soda can then the inside piece is seamless
Randall Lewis
That defeats his stated original purpose, which was to use *_ONE CAN,_* not two.

Good video but won't the can melt
Can you use handsanitizer for the alcohol? 😅
👍👍🇧🇷 Parabéns
P-38 works to cut the top and it's safe.
Lit it with a fucking stun gun. Epic!
muy peligrosa la manera como empieza el video! 0:50
Xelent job 10out10👍
Vietnamese 🇻🇳 ??? You sound a little like my college roommate Bao or Mike.
You are super smart McGuyver 👍
You get hurt, cut easily the way you're doing things. Put on a work gloves for your protection.
I agree
Is there a scientific explantion?
Pls answer badly needed for my presentation
Thankyou in advance
There is a scientific explanation for everything, but I don't have this one in mind sorry.
This guy is foreign and still better explains how to make it.
Has no one noticed that rather than a 50cent lighter he only has a TASER on hand to light it with!!!???
The taser is safer. :D
Michael Sapsford - The lighter won’t scare the wildlife away when your camping though...? ;)
Can i use gasoline instead of alcohol ?
No
YOU'RE DANGEROUS...BUT IT'S GOOD INFO...
Viet?
Why not just poke holes around top for jets, and toss a coin over the hole on top after prime.. No need to cut anything..
how long does it last?
Try getting a loooooongeeeeer can.
WAYYYYY TO COMPLICATED.
You should have just used a manual can opener
