I am so happy to see that people are willing to spend time and money to keep these old locomotives going. I am from Corry Pennsylvania where all Climax locomotives were built. I used to walk passed whats left of the old factory all the time. For me it is a sense of pride to see that train still running.
@@gamingandmore888 The Corry Historical Society recently acquired an early Model Climax Locomotive and the only know Climax of it's specific model still in existence. It was found in Alaska where it had been since 1902. They are currently restoring it to running condition. I can't wait to see it.
Wonderful to see her running again and thanks for the fantastic sound and vision - great camera work! Now...when are we going to see her working on the Walhalla line? She'd be really in her element there and she won't hold up the regular services!
i spent the whole day chasing trains with my brother. Followed Climax from Monbulk Creek (was located in the car park) then onto Schools Road and Menzies. From there we just followed the regular services trains to Gembrook and return. Best railfanning experience ever. Nice shots James, should have mine up soon. Cheers
Great video. Love fhe short quick stroke sounds of the climax. Have 2 Bachmann HO scale models of these and this video helped me compare Bachmann's sound to the real thing! Thanks and Cheers.
Great Video of the Climax Locomotive. I would also like to see them restore the #14 Alishan Shay too,as I have Model #16,of this Shay Engine in HO,although mine has an Americanized Headlight with a visor on the front.
Nothing more universal than geared steam. Rod locomotives differed radically in design between nations but geared were pretty much all the same the world over.

You might be interested to know that this particular locomtive was the last geared Climax locomotive to be manufactured.

It's enough to make a grown man drool!!!!! Oh how I love these geared "teakettles"! Thank you for posting this to TH-cam! LOVE IT!!
Good video, I like the geared locomotives. They did a fantastic job on the restoration. Thanks for sharing.
Its the ultimate steam rail experience
The Climax in Stringers Creek Gorge would be something really special. I also hope it goes down there one day.
Geared steam locos are very rare to see operational. Thanks for sharing.

It would be nice to see a shay and climax together

All they need is a Heisler, then they'd be all set.
Did you know that Alishan #14 is from Taiwan??
That was a great day I need to get myself behind the climax again
i remeber this grate railway i last went there around 2008 i think it was smaller then but i cant remeber

8 miles per hour flat out. Slow, but very powerful for its size.
Fantastic video! Are there any plans to restore that shay locomotive to operation as well?
Not that I know of, although it would certainly be interesting to have both in steam
CoasterFan2105 PBR preservation society does want to restore the shay and run it with the climax but they have other projects at the moment
That Shay locomotive is from the Alishan Forest Railway in Taiwan!
CoasterFan2105 hello
Maybe I will used this video for my video Saturday.
Is that a shay steam locomotive in front of the ‘Climax’ steam locomotive at 5:39?
Yes indeed it is!
If you didn't know what it was and just heard it going flat out, you would think it's going much faster than 8mph :)
Fair enough.
How come you don't zoom or pan the camera - we never get to see the motion going past?
HD video
What's it top speed? Nice video
Not sure, it might be the safety valves.
My main interest is still photography. The videos are just something I take as a side activity.
this type of locomotive is from the USA and I'm from the nose of USA
Corry Pennsylvania to be exact is where all climax geared Locomotives were built.
Sadly, the climax hasn’t run this big of a of load for a while now. Still a great production!
Superb video !
