Y’all talking about the overstating of denominational employees… I would be concerned that the board of trustees has less than 10 women 💅🏽

I joined this group. I've been faculty staff daytime and evening student. This is totally wrong to bring disrespect to the school by broadcasting all of our intimate workings. Up until this point Oakwood has a lot of respect from city leaders, State, national, other schools and the business community. Y-all have single-handedly especially one particular brother (I'm not going to call your name) killed the entire system by persisting the president be fired and having televised mediaTown Hall meetings. By doing these things you have ascribed upon yourselves deity. The scriptures saith: 'The Lord sets up Kings and remove them'. I am in no way taking up for Pollard. I know about all the things he's supposedly has done and doing. I also know about a lot of good things for the school he has done. Let's get some balance here. Pollard was supposed to have been out of here several times. He's still here and he ain't leaving till the Lord say so. How about spending time in these meetings and coming up with solutions. Anybody can criticize. Meanwhile CEASE and DESIST! Instead PLAN and REPLAN. This will go a long way towards solving problems and bringing solutions...

It is crucial to shift our attention from highlighting the problem to developing a strategic plan to resolve it. The foundation for this plan should be centered around enrollment. However, in order to ensure successful enrollment, we must address the concerns regarding infrastructure. If we do not have the capacity to accommodate and support the growing number of students, an increase in enrollment could have negative consequences. Therefore, our primary focus should be on improving the infrastructure and facing the reality that we may need to have difficult conversations about limiting student intake at the university. As an enrollment professional, I see potential for growth and improvement at Oakwood, but our first priority should be fulfilling our fiduciary responsibility and solidifying the infrastructure.

Thank you for your comments however, developing a strategic plan to resolve these concerns would be doing what they pay Pollard to do. If you look at his strategic plan, there are no quantifiable measures so there is nothing to evaluate him on. Keep in mind this is the strategic plan that the board has sanctioned. We have requested an opportunity to work with them towards resolution, but they have consistently ignored our request. Stay prayerful.

I don't know that we can compare non-Christian HBCUs with an SDA institution. Adventists have many options outside of the SDA realm, which makes it a challenge for SDA institutions.

Has the impacts of Covid and spiritual culture of our churches been taken into account for the decline in enrollment? Many people no longer support SDA education from academy levels on up and don’t believe in the impact of attending a HBCU in this country. Also, is it fair to compare Oakwood to Southern that is a PWI? Does Oakwood receive the amount of state support that some other schools do, since it’s a private university?

SU is a private institution; so it’s safe to say they probably see the same amount of state support or less.
