Synthesis of p-Bromoacetanilide From Acetanilide
Dissolve 3.5 gm of acetanilide in 12.5 of GAA in an iodine flask…….1
In another small flask dissolve 1.35ml of bromine in 6.5ml in GAA put the solution in dropping funnel or in burette
Add the bromine solution in acetanilide solution slowly with constant shaking in an ice bath.
After complete addition allow the mixture to stand at RT for 15mints with occasional shaking,
and pour the mixture in 100ml water and rinse the beaker with 50ml water.
Filter the Product wash with cold water, recrystallized from 50% ethyl alcohol.
M.P. = 167 degree C

Sir what is the rf difference of TLC spot after the completion of bromination I need to carry out for next step I have completed this process and recrystalise from water for 100 mg of acetanilide
