Toni Lindgren (guitar), Andrew Foreman (bass), and I recorded this cover of Peter Gabriel's "Solsbury Hill" in our studio and then hiked to this very pretty spot on a bluff by the Pacific ocean to shoot the video. Special thanks to our friends Alana and Marisa for operating the cameras on this shoot! You might remember Alana from when she sang "Mary Hamilton" and "Two Sisters" with me. A grand time was had by all, and we hope you enjoy this cover of one of PG's very best songs.

The best yet. I like this better than original. Toni is so smooth on that guitar. It just fills the air with sweetness. Elle’s voice , tone, timing is something to behold. It’s captivating.
I never ceased to be amazed by the lazyness of so many comments. Before you fire off something critical about "recorded elsewhere", etc. just read the complete bloody description that tells you up front that the audio was done in a studio and reenacted on location. Come on folks, your better than this! That said....it's a wonderful cover.
You are right on. Any fool knows that the wind on a bluff over the Pacific would make impossible to record or hear the beautiful voice and music.

I was a huge Genesis fan in high school in the 70s. Saw Peter Gabriel’s fist solo tour at the Troubadour in LA when I was 17. He played this song. You all did it justice. Beautiful cover. It took me a moment to realize Toni was playing the Bass Drum. Do you realize how good you have to be to finger-pick and play a drum at the same time? She's becoming Wrecking Crew good.

It was recorded in the studio and while it may well have been done in one take, all together, it could just as easily have been multitracked with all the parts, including the bass drum, played separately. Regardless of how it was recorded, this is a fine cover and Toni is an excellent musician.
@@ParaBellum2024 no argument, but she is playing both in the video and we could tell if she wasn't keeping time correctly. I really am impressed.
As a young soldier in 1980 this song took me back to when I was on a wheat and sheep farm.

I have never really been a big Peter Gabriel fan. But this goes to show, a good song in someone else's hands can bring it life. And, of course, these gals (and guy) seem to bring every song they touch to new life.
Search for a band named Còig, from Nova Scotia, Canada. I love their version and have had the pleasure of seeing them perform it live. It's also featured on their CD, Rove.

Over and over, again... and keep coming back... Lots of great covers out there, of a great, great song... but for certain moods, this one is at the top.
I think this is my favorite song. My dad and I would sing this on the way home from school all the time. “Grab your things I’ve come to take you home”, classic dad joke. Graduated high school last May, college is all online don’t get to sing in the car with him anymore. Can’t wait til this pandemic is finally over. This is a lovely cover.
As a father with kids finished with college and well into adult life, I approve of this sentiment. You should show it to your Dad. He'll be touched.

Yes Garbriel's phrasing on the vocals and metre of the lyrics are very knotty and difficult to sing. This performance is wonderful. I have watched it many times.
The lyrics of this song are so poignant given the place and time Mr Gabriel had come from just before making this.

Ever since I was little my dad would play me this song and tell me of the way it reminded him of his own father. Now whenever I hear it i think of my dad - he’s passed it onto me. This is such a special song to me - so hearing this just filled my heart. What a beautiful cover - thank you for sharing this with the world 💕

I'm an old(ish) musician and long time fan of Genesis when PG was a member. This is, without doubt, my favourite song, it resonates with times in my life and makes it a song in my heart. You guys totally nailed it, I love this version, Reina your voice fits perfectly with your production. I've listened to Peter Gabriel for many years, only recently hearing the iconic nature of his personal sound. This song is perhaps a burnt in place memory of "home," the intent of the song of "grab your things, I've come to take you home" never stops grabbing the heart strings. Note strong connections to "emotional content" of the word "home." Songwriters, pick good, hot words that connect the listener to emotions.
You must be very happy with this performance; you look completely at peace with the world. It's one of the best covers I've ever heard. Even better than the original.

Great to hear your version of Peter Gabriel's classic. Until fairly recently I lived in a house on Solsbury Hill, which is just outside the historic city of Bath in the UK. The hill itself has a flat top which is an Iron Age settlement, but the views are worth the effort of the climb!
