Awesome video! We hiked the Rae Lakes Loop July 2021 via Kearsarge pass. It's cool that you saw a momma bear and her cubs. We didn't see any bears, but everyone we talked to had. If you haven't done it yet I recommend hiking the North Lake South Lake loop. We Completed that one this year in July. Enjoyed the video and hike on!
It's pretty awesome. It's one of the most popular loops in the Sierra so it does require getting a permit because they limit the number of people allowed in per day.
On a scale of one to ten, videography gets a solid 12! incredible scenery, boulders, rocks sparse pines. that gets a 12 as well. Hike Oregon and her friend... they get a solid twelve for sheer guts and determination! Amazing video.I love the Sierral hiking!
The sound of rain and thunder when I’m backpacking is perfect as long as my tent is already set up and I’ve had dinner. Looked a bit dizzying coming down from Glenn Pass but that lake was such a beautiful blue colour and the suspension bridge looked like so much fun. The look on your face and the words you mouthed when you were in your tent and it was pouring buckets was priceless 🤣. Please include this if you ever make an outtakes video.
A light tarp and a little cordage makes for a great rainy hang out. Always worth the weight to me...and well worth it to those not carrying the weight.
I just got off trail yesterday (20 days on JMT) and loved camping at Rae Lakes for the first time. Glenn Pass was no joke, but I did it southbound. The Sierra is beautiful and yet brutal on the body. My ankles and feet are still crying. I think the descents are more painful than the climbs. That said, I'll be returning to Rae Lakes for sure. Thanks for sharing your adventure!
Loved the video. Bubbs creek is gorgeous. I was wondering, did you have reservations or did you get a walk up permit? If you got a walk up, I was wondering the time of day you showed up? Thanks.
i did the rae lakes loop in 2020, but i went the opposite direction that you did. as for sierra recommendations, i just did a hike to tamarack lakes in the eastern sierra this summer. i did it as a day hike, but it would've been an amazing overnight. one could extend it further too and make a longer trip out of it
Wow, sounds like fun. I often find myself going on hikes just in a day that I would've enjoyed or often recommend doing as overnight hikes just to take the time to really enjoy them.
Besides gloves I don’t own anything from north face so I don’t know about them. Osprey packs are amazing both day packs and backpacking packs. And Columbia makes awesome very high quality clothing. I have had my hiking sun shirt for years and it’s still holding up, just the color is fading a little bit.
Summer of 89 i was on the maintenance crew that rebuilt the trail as a crew leader of the California conservation corp best summer ever
Epic!

Thank you so much for watching!!! I always love putting more California things on my list.
I keep seeing videos of this place. Im taking it as a sign I need to go here.....ASAP! Nice video

Yes coming down from Glenn Pass was a bit sketch with the footing. You really had to be careful.
A light tarp and a little cordage makes for a great rainy hang out. Always worth the weight to me...and well worth it to those not carrying the weight.
Dream hike of mine so *hopefully* I can make it out there some day. As always, you did a fantastic job capturing the adventure! Thanks for sharing it.
Thanks for watching. Definitely apply for a permit next year.
We camped right on the south end of that suspension bridge while thru-hiking the PCT in 2019. Gorgeous area and the bridge was fun.
Yes such a great camp spot. We had lunch there.
Lamarck Lakes is really pretty! We did it as a overnight backpacking trip. Gem Lakes is also a nice one :)
Welcome to California mountain hiking. Most of our best backpacking trips have a fair amount of elevation gain/loss. The views are worth it. Hike on!
The views were definitely worth it.
Great Video. Beautiful country. BTW, I have been that tired with heavy pack, sure learned a good lesson. 🥾 Hike on...
Thanks so much for watching!!

Oh man 20 days on the jmt sounds incredible!!!

We had permits before we went. It would be waaaaay too long of a drive to chance a walk up permit.
looks like a good hike
It was so epic!
Rugged but super stunning terrain those storms are crazy looks like it was an amazing time.

We did the Baxter pass and exit Kearsage Pass. 6 days and we got caught on the Hilary hurricane in rae lakes.
Are osprey, columbia, north face, etc. full of crap or is the gear actually worth it?

Such a beautiful place, you handled the snake well, I hate snakes..
I would've, screamed like a 12 year old girl, and ran.. 😳😏
I was way too close to that snake. Lol
Billy Rae was a preacher's son
And when his father would visit he'd come along
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
hallo
Vie gehts?
That was a big snake.
No kidding. It was about 4.5 feet.
