Williams found the switches were slightly more responsive by removing 1 resistor in each of the 8 switch lines and replacing them with a "Zero Ohm" resistor, or simply a jumper wire (for instance, a common staple from stapler fits the holes perfectly). Starting with the Black Knight, the switch closures were plentiful all over the field, and they found this simple upgrade improved the performance.of the switch closures. This was the first game released where all the driver boards were modified. We have found when we work on all these games that a minimum of half the driver boards that have passed over our service bench never had the mod done!

Phoenix was my first pinball machine in the 80's. I paid $300 for it (working). Wow that was cheap! And the owner also had a Space Shuttle for $600 (working). Pinballs are way over priced now-a-days and I'm glad I'm not into this hobby anymore.
I'm glad to hear the collector base is growing. One day I might want to sell my remaining games. But for now I like to have them around to "tinker" with. Teehee.
Loved that William's Phoenix, my all time fav pinballs are the late 70's & early 80's. Y'all did a fantastic job!
