    Would a typical French horn cleaning snake work? I can't seem to find one specifically for mellophone.

    I'm having trouble removing a rubber ring on my valve, any tips?

      If it’s rubber I would imagine it’ll be okay to get wet. 👍 Mine are felt and that’s why I removed them.

    Looks more like a marching french horn instead of a mellophone.

      I’ve played both and I promise you it’s a mellophone. :) They often do look very similar though.

      This particular mello design is less compact than other mellos so yes it does resemble the shape and size of a marching French horn.

      Haha I’ve never heard the bore called the “bell throat” before. I’m gonna start saying that!

    Hey i have question which way do the keys face when putting them back in?

    • @joshgerber718
      @joshgerber718  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Usually the side with the number stamped on it faces the mouthpiece end of the horn, however each instrument can be different. Make sure you notice which way everything goes in as you pull it out. It’s good to check these things beforehand, maybe take a picture if that helps.

    I have a gold one do I use cold water or hot water

    • @joshgerber718
      @joshgerber718  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don’t use hot water!! It could damage the gold lacquer! Warm water is fine, it cleans the best, but just be careful not to make it too hot. A moderate lukewarm should be perfectly safe. 👍

    My band director gave me a Mello and the slides don't even move 😭

      Try gently rocking the slide side to side as you pull it out

    band director gave me a mello thats already got badly damanged gold lacquer☹️ am i able to repaint it on or am i stuck with an ugly looking mello?

      Ooo sorry to hear that, that’s no fun! Unfortunately that’s not a question I can answer. I would ask your director if you’re allowed to take it somewhere where they will re-lacquer it for you.

      Something is completely blocking the airflow so that means it’s in the pipes/slides or your valves are put in backward. Go to the reassembly section got the video at 5:18. Good luck!
