I don't know if you know about the brand 'Melissa', they make shoes out of recycled plastic and have designers like Vivienne Westwood and Karl Lagerfeld design for them. I would definitely recommend having a look at some of the stuff they do if you haven't already.
Anyway, thank you for making this. There is a severe lack of vegan shoe videos on youtube. I made my own a couple of months ago, but I still love looking at other people's collections. c:
Converse Chucks can be bought in an ethical version from the brand Ethletics. They are from organic cotton and fairtrade latex. Similar price, but vegan and non-harmful. Have been through three pairs and I always go back to them. :)

For more 'alternative' shoes TUK and Demonia both have a bunch of non-leather options, and if like me you have huge feet and don't fit in most stores, Long Tall Sally also have a lot of non-leather shoes. Great video! Thank you!
I've never noticed those symbols about the materials..good to know. Thanks! I actually went through my shoe collection not that long ago and I was surprised a lot of them weren't leather. I'm currently eyeing a pair of boots from Nicorah johns I just love boots : D

I especially love the Bamboo shoes. Being from Sweden I see a lot of Swedish Habeens, but sadly they don't do any non leather shoes. I have a black pair of clog sandals from Novacas (it means no cows in portugese!) but I really want white ones too. And the Bamboos come in white, yay!
I think Vegetarianshoes have some hiking boots, but they're not the cheapest brand... But the quality is great. I buy all my booth from them and last for ages. I'm on my second pair of winter boots from them and I boght my first pair in 2008.

I am pretty sure Asics and most running shoes do not use leather because it weighs the shoe down.

I've been searching for a vegan hiking option too, as far as I can tell the brand Ahnu (I found them on Amazon) has no leather/suede options. Like you said though I haven't done research in to the glue.
The Sugarpine boot is the name of the ones I've been looking at
mermaidtailz garmin used to make a vegan hiking boot. I have had them for 10 years so not sure if they are still made. I need to get my resoled right now.

The adhesives on shoes are vegan. I checked a while back because a coworker kept telling me the adhesives were made out of horse. Which is not true. Well in the past the adhesives from animals were used even in books, but now we can make better adhesives that are synthetic that last longer

I think the problem with non-leather is, when it isn't a vegan brand, it could use an animal based glue. Now.. to be fair I still buy non-leather shoes. It's because I really think it's a good thing to support those shoes. It shows that more and more people don't want to use something that is animal based. I think when more people buy non-leather shoes (/vegan), more and more brands will use vegan glue for there shoes.
But that being said, it's ofcourse always good to support a vegan brand. They can use all the support they can get
