But resale value and reliability is very much important because everyone cares about values and money

Gurkha is Amazing off roader
We own one of the older models and used to drive it in germany. It's a solid and great offroader and most of the parts are produced by mercedes benz and hanomag. But damn, the rust. If you drive it on snowy european roads where they use a lot of thawing salt, it will rot away. 12 years ago, the car was rear ended by a ford mondeo (impact speed 60 kph), my dad replaced the bumper, the tail lights and some rubber buffers and kept driving. It was one of the coolest cars we ever owned, it brings back a lot of great memories. We still have it but sadly it does not worth any repairs due to the heavy rust and european environmental politics.
