He's been one of my favorites for 23 years. I own a ridiculous amount of imports of Savage Garden CDs and Darren Hayes CDs. Not to mention the purple vinyl of secret codes and battleships. This is one of my favorite live performances of his. I would have loved to have been in the audience. You can tell he was singing it to Delta. Bet she had goosebumps and tears. Thank you Darren. So underrated and for some reason left out of mainstream discussions on greatest male vocalists. Not to mention his amazing songwriting talent. His lyrics and emotions go deeper than pretty much any popular music coming out these days. Hopefully we'll get his One Man Show and a new album in the near future. I love you Darren Hayes!!! @Tommy G No. This is 2003 before we knew of Deltas cancer. She was there because she blitz's these rewards with her first album. Darren chose this song as his next single, also in 2003. So just a really nice way of honouring our new 18 yr old musical genius, by having an Australian international star sing his cover of one of her songs at this award ceremony.

Maybe there were 2 different award ceremonies in those days. I distinctly remember this beautiful long haired young girl who was dressed so beautifully [which was very unusual at the time] singing amazing songs - and then hearing her very sad news not long after.

Even though she was still taking chemo she cam to the arias that night but was too weak to perform. Darren fly in from London to perform her song at the request of Sony. Darren put some much emotion into the song for Delta. Delta was in tears and everyone in the audience so so emotional after this iconic performance - despite the clapping seals.
