- This is the all-new Alfa Romeo Giulia Competizione. Not quite the racy Giulia Quadrifolgio, not quite the basic Giulia. Under the bonnet, we have a 2L turbo-charged petrol engine which produces 280 hp and 400 Nm of torque. This is an AWD version of Giulia, but we also have the sportier RWD option available in some markets. Is the facelifted 2023 Giulia Competizione any better?

It hasn't been properly updated ever, it is the most sporting in its class but it only appeals to the minority of people (enthusiasts).

@@luisax86 They want virtual stuff, tons of finger prints nightmare shiny screens, Rols interior quality and some posh badge. Like A1/A3 audi etc drivers . The car doesn't matter, the badge does. It could be tip on wheels but it has to have some posh badge.... logic. Oh nearly forgot it must get 0 to 60 relatively quick or we may lost an inch or two down bellow if we get beaten on the traffic lights...
Alfa is a niche car brand. Not very known and its for people that love cars. Which 90% aren't. Average Joe knows ford and dull stuff like that. Must return 50 mpg and be cheap to repair from brand we know. In the UK fiesta ( I'm a hater) was the top selling car for years. The 1 litre crap tec etc engines . Alfa is too sporty for average Joe and it doesn't have Merc, Beemer etc badge for the more " look at me i have XXX and my virtual willie is big ".
The Giulia ages beautifully, like no other car on the road. A timeless design 🍀🇮🇹

Anna….a bald headed 35 year old scaffolders accountant buys a BMW 3 series….a motoring enthusiast who understand driving rather than economics buys an Alfa Romeo…..the first shows off to his mates…the second simply smiles inside every time they turn the key and set off…that is what makes Alfa different…a madness purchase but a memory forever. 🙂🙂🙂🙂😃😃😃😃
But there is more Bald headed accountants than motoring enthusiasts. The later are a dying breed. Most people can't change oil filter even if their life depended on it. The amount of time i`ve seen breakdows for a flat tire on all sorts of roads and male drivers waiting for AAA to rescue them .... sad.

The giulia has always been a stunning car.even now 8 years later people still talk about this masterpiece well done alfa romeo for designing and building such an iconic car.

You can normally pick up for half the price in couple years. IT's quite nice. I`ve picked low millage late 2019 plate(read 69 plate in the uk) in the mid 30k bracket with the carbon seats quattro formaggi. And by low millage i mean low 20s.
Great great car. This car had put down very strong foundations for the future of Alfa Romeo and it has set very high standards in reliability. Wonderful design too for a saloon.
Giulia gives a very special emotions , like passion and love, also it is so beautiful in real life that u can stand and looking and it will never get boring! Fast, super handling, good quality interior, super fast gearbox and huge torque !! Really amazing car !!

Great review Anna. The 2023 Giulia Looks stunning but they all do. I think the Giulia is the best Alfa Romeo in recent years and no wonder it's one of the best cars in your opinion. I love the tri-headlights, I think that puts it out there in looks. The interior looks amazing and it's great to see the entertainment screen is builded into the dashboard instead of a iPad stunk on top of the dashboard. But it's great how they have kept with the Giulia traditional shape but I was shocked when you said it's been around for 10 years but it shows you how great the design of the car is. Brilliant performance and not bad MPG. If I was going for the Giulia I would go for a metallic red or green for me but I would also would prefer the Quadrifoglio. We have to see you testing out the new Giulia Quadrifoglio and put in it through its passes.

The VAG Group since 2007 and 2012 (17 years and 12 years)has been using MQB y MLB but noody tells,that´s why Alfa is Judged rapidly and put apart, relax just go and buy a mercedes or Bmw and feel it unique and especial .

Another great review Anna. If I could justify it and afford it I would buy with my heart and Giulia just might take it. If I was to buy with my head? Well that might be another story but if it wasn't the Giulia maybe my hear might not forgive my head. Without driving one I can't really have an opinion so for now I'll look at a test some time later in the future when I can justify and afford it. Anna I totally agree with you, I have owned a lot of different Alfa's through the years and I think they are great drivers cars. Would love the new Quadrifoglio but that's another whole story.... Nothing to beat that V6

I think this version was first brought at the market in Europe as Veloce: 280 ps, standard AWD. It was brought to fill the gap between the first petrol versions and the Quadrifoglio. I think this will be the follow up on my Ghibli.
Did you not like the Ghibli? I always compare the Gulia and the Ghibli, and wonder which is better...
@@supermash1I drive my Ghibli for over 4 years now, and still love it! But for the pure driving experience the Giulia is the benchmark. In comparison to the beamers and Audi’s I owned it is on a whole different level.

Patrząc na linie nadwozia to tak , a od strony mechanicznej to musiałbym się zagłębić. Z Włocha to tylko miałem kiedyś Fiata Punto z 2003r bodajże 1.3multijet o ile dobrze kojażę. Looking good! I like that car. Just yesterday I spoke to someone who had a quadrifoglio, I asked if he had any "issues" with the car and he said no - not one. I said I had heard they can be unreliable, he said their problem is consistency, there ARE lemons - it's the luck of the draw...
Always liked Italian cars though. Something about Alfa really appeals to me (the styling, the heritage). I was sitting beside the guy's car who I spoke to, so I didn't see the front license plate, I don't think that looks great on this car due to the positioning, especially here in North America. Otherwise though, it's a great looking car and the interior looks nice too. Always enjoy your reviews.

Sam w tym roku zastanawiałem się nad nowym Stelvio. Niestety nie przekonało mnie odejście od analogowych zegarów. Na plus nowe światła, które może nie świecą mega lepiej niż stare 35 W, ale wizualnie robią robotę. Poza tym żadnych większych zmian, a przydałoby się odświeżyć multimedia i dodać nowe czujniki jak choćby kamery 360 stopni. Kamera w poprzednich generacjach jest kiepskiej jakości. Mimo wszystko zdecydowałem się na Stelvio MY22 280 KM i nie żałuję, bo auto samo w sobie jest genialne mimo, że pod względem technologii odstaje trochę od konkurencji. Polecam bo to piękne auta, które rozkochują w sobie. Piękne auto ale jeszcze piękniejsza Anna, która tak samo jak Alfa Romeo ma w sobie styl, klasę, sexapil. Idealne połączenie

So aside from the aesthetic differences - what has changed? You mentioned it seems a bit softer? It's got the same engine and transmission and the same 0-100 time. Has the powertrain tuning or suspension tuning been revised?

Great review, absolutely agree, Anna well done! As for the car - almost everybody like it but just minor part buy it. The majority prefer German brands for their liquidity and practicality.

I`ve been prob one of the few normal Audi drivers on the road for years here in the NW England. Always loved that they are not so expensive to fix and in general reliable. But driving is dull unless you can fork for something with S or RS badge. But even then for their class they`re quire boring . A friend of mine had the veloce and it's been great fun the few times i drove the thing. Finally managed to save some coppers and ... probably i'm mad but bought low millage quattro formaggi(just like Jeremy Clarkson called it)19 plate with the carbon seats. I`ve re-watch his review prob 100 times over the years and finally got one myself.
They all bash the inside of the old quads but who cares really about it apart from designers? I like the fact it's not very italian inside. It's practical! Everything is where it should and it works as it should. Not very italian in that regard in fact but... I love it. As dull as the speed limits are in the UK, you can still have some fun. OR more fun and few penalty points. But worth the smiles for sure(Got caught in the twisty roads around Bala lake in North Wales >.

OK the car hasn’t admittedly changed in 10 years except the digital dash yet the hostess didn’t even go into that - just dismissed it and pined about missing the analog dials. We’ll perhaps a bit more details on this new feature would have been nice.

I gave the standard Giulia some strong consideration before I bought my 500X (the Quadrifoglio 🍀was really more than I wanted to spend) but I decided a sporty crossover/small SUV was a little better as a daily ride given where I reside.
The new models need more exterior color options with the alfa red interior.
So it sounds like Miss Italy launched in a manner satisfactory to you.🚗

Anno, chyba musisz zmienić operatora kamery, bo ujęć gdy jesteś obok auta nie da się oglądać, dostaję po prostu zawrotów głowy - nie wiem czy to wina kiepskiej stabilizacji w urządzeniu nagrywającym czy może zbyt szerokokątny obiektyw został użyty do nagrania, ale obraz po prostu się wygina i faluje, szczególnie mocno to widać w intro, gdy zarówno auto jak i Ty zaczynacie się dziwnie kołysać i wyginać na boki.

This car costs £52k in the UK. Makes the Jaguar XE 300 Sport pretty good value at £43k. Alfas and Jaguars are very different in style of course, but as alternatives to the ubiquitous BMW, Benz, Audi, they both have their own character. Jaguar has been ignoring the XE for some time now pretending it doesn't exist.
At last Alfa have fitted led headlights on this model outside its stunning but inside its a bit dated given its price
