I also misplayed in game 1 Turn 6 by singing with Rabbit & not questing for 1 while floating 4 ink. A shaky start! But my gameplay improved as the day went on 👊
After playing purple steel, I agree that more people should be playing broom in this deck. I honestly don't know why it was ever cut. It seems so free.
Definitely want to make sure you're bringing your Pen and Paper to big comps like this! Love this format, and I actually do think it works better than top/bottom view. Appreciate the uploads man!
“Ruby Ame-fist” 😂 Jokes aside, as someone learning the competitive aspects of the game, I love your videos, commentary, and creative deck building! Please keep the content coming!
Great video, Speci! It’s nice to get to see some in-person gameplay footage with commentary from a Set Championship event! And like you said about tracking lore, if you want to be safer, use “pen and paper!” 😊
Pen and paper lore tracking in significant events is a really good way to keep things clear and running smoothly. Good video. As for the play mat oriention sideways is better imo.
The audio is still slightly off for me. Just one example, at 36:15 you announce Medusa coming in to play 2-3 seconds before she actually does...not a huge deal at all just letting you know.
I just won my set championship with Emerald Amethyst and my 2 best match-ups were ruby Amethyst and Ruby saphire. I totally agree with your assessment of the 1 drops. I feel like 8+ 1 drops will need to played especially going into set 5.
I've been watching your videos and they have been a lot of help ! About to participate in my first champion, im just missing 3 cards do you have any recommendations for a replacement ?
Thank you for the shoutout, 1st game in so far, absolutely brawl on turn 3 and also the turn 4 Chernabog and then fox, I think I was a little bit starstruck 😂
@@SpeciLorcana name a time and a place 😂 I’m happy to travel if you would like to get a few more games on camera after the championships, maybe we can try a few different decks too
I don’t think we need laps (or faces for that matter - Save yourself the grief If you want to add extra camera angles I’d be looking at a camera tripod from behind showing your hand more clearly so we can play/strategize along with you easier)
The laps definitely aren't needed just haven't worked out a better way to do the cam. I do think face cams add a lot & have ordered a new camera & clamps for a better facecam setup
and that's why it's better to leave the ink face up until the end of the end. His turn was so long and with the shuffling for Yzma I'm sure they both just forgot about the first ink
If you search "Ursula's Return Set Championship Map" there's a July 4th article by Mushu Report that has them. The actual list that Brad Nelson of Melee made also allows you to divide it weekend by weekend but I don't think I can link that on TH-cam
Eventhough I def. do not agree with running 18 unink. I like that you just go with your gut instead of the traditional lists. I am on -1 broom, -1 be king, -1 medusa, -2 peter pan, +3 maleficent, +1 flynn, +1 kuzco. For consistency. I hate keeping rabbit in the opening en then draw medusa, be king, peter pan, and be stuck at 3 ink, with nothing to ink. worst feeling!
I didn't run into any many uninkable issues although I did take some greedy mulligans I could have been punished for. I don't want to play the Pan's particularly but they are there specficially to improve my Bucky matchup
This is the problem with ramp sapphire. ALL this ink for nothing. Once you play big cards the opponent is up by 10+lore. Sapphire is most effective with aggressive cards in the beginning. Captin hook and mr smee. Once the board is under control then you ramp. You also playing steel so you have the best board whipe. Can you imagine the sapphire steel player going up against aggro amber. It's over before it started. Honestly I don't even play fishbone anymore. I rather have a body like tipo who has the same effect. I also cut Tamatoa. They are just to slow.
my lgs set championship got ruined by a cheater who made the entire event compromised. He wore sunglasses and was blatantly stacking his deck. During swiss he didn’t offer me cut, i called for the judge and bc there wasn’t video evidence they said they couldn’t do anything. I made top 8 cut as the #3 seed but lost the tiebreaker for #2 to the sunglasses guy, and in quarterfinals i lost my set 2-0 to sapphire steel and the guy he played in quarterfinals i had beaten in swiss 2-0. Sunglasses guy got caught doing the same stuff on stream in top 8, and the moment he made semifinals and got his promo card he played the round without them on and lost instantly. The store owner claims he can’t do anything about it and refused to even compensate me my $15 entry fee, let alone the $350 that the card is worth for the blatant issues from the event. I’m somewhat excited for set 5 but the entire experience turned me off from the game in a way
@@jonthefarmer1112there’s a twitch/youtube vod of the exact incident that occurred and it happened in swiss as well. When properly shuffling cards you’re supposed to look away from your hands. In the vod the guy initially shuffles his deck prior to game 1 of top 8 without the sunglasses and looking away. After the initial cut he then flips his sunglasses on and while shuffling he is staring straight ahead at his hands. His shuffling mechanics are different than the initial shuffle to where he kept the top portion of his deck in the same place while shuffling the rest, and then did not present his deck for cut and immediately went into the high roll. This happened throughout swiss rounds and was blatantly caught on camera during top 8. The guy also bypassed a bodyguard character on the field and had no idea what the Resist ability meant. He played Emerald/Steel Bucky meta and was just acting strange the entire event, plus blatant stacking was caught on camera
@@levelupreports yeah I mean a lot of people just started playing right around set champs. Not sus at all. Only mechanic people know is the discard mechanic and that’s it.
@@jonthefarmer1112 with all due respect, if you can’t acknowledge that improper shuffling and refusal to allow your opponent to cut the deck is a problem in a competitive tcg, then we’re fundamentally having 2 different conversations. One of the first rules in the official comprehensive rule book by Ravensburger themselves states that the game can’t even officially start until both players offer/cut each other’s decks if they want too. Blatantly skipping that step means the entire result is compromised by the official rule book itself
@@levelupreports I’m not denying the person cheated or anything. I’m just surprised it happened. I have had my opponent kinda sus shuffle but when that happens I just shuffle their deck back. So if a guy just straight up drew 7 and didn’t offer shuffle I’d call judge immediately.
Am I the only one wondering why Smee did not get any damage at end of turn. He would have been dead in the round he sang to destroy him. That’s a bit cheating. 😅😅
Idc what you say. This deck is just as bad as bucky discard!!! Anything you play just gets banished before you can even use it. Prime example match 2. I felt his pain. This tcg might be going down the drain.

Broom & Chernabogs are auto-include for me in basically any Amethyst deck. My Spidey senses tell me they are the two most efficient cards in Lorcana.

Why do people use pen and paper for?

Pen and paper let’s go. Awesome video man. I really enjoyed the gameplay with voiceover from competitive events.
Side view looks great. I’ve been watching TCGS from this perspective for so long I feel it feels “normal”.
Thanks for the feedback!
I agree, the side view makes for a more pleasant perspective.
Who’s that husky man in the blue? 😂😂 was nice to meet you mate and play at the side for the first game 👍
Nice one mate! The camera loves you more than me it seems
Great video Speci really looking forward to your next videos
Pen and paper! Love the videos! your cast in lille and bochum was great😍
You should call it the Chernaboom line! Or Broomabog!
But Speci line works :)
I privated an old version of this video as audio sync was off. Sorry for the confusion

Hype for the next vidéo
Stat whit a sharp pen and paper ;)
feel bad for the the guy Saphire Steel, he never got answers and all the removal from the world in hand on Speci
I didn’t know this. It seems like when he discarded his own pawpsickel card he was able to draw two cards? Where is that in the rule book ?

Depends on which cards you're missing
@@SpeciLorcana BE prepared, Friends, queen Im only missing these cards :(

Maybe want to add the round number on the side.
Anyone know the name of the life counter app Speci is using? Thanks :)

Good catch, it was an honest mistake I'm sure
With a more aggressive build did you consider cutting 1-2 be prep?
Yeah but everyone tells me you need 4 be prep for Bucky match up
Would you auto include 4 brooms and 4 followers in Emerald/ Amethyst?
Probably
Pen and paper. Definitely enjoyed the video more please
Thoughts on adding the one drop Maleficent?
Id love to! Uninkable count is already high tho. I feel like 1 maleficent is hard to argue with
Pen and Paper for the win!
Thanks for sharing your experience! What's the scorekeeping app you were using?
Lotus. The numbers on the official app are too small for the camera unfortunately
@@SpeciLorcana Is there a way for it to start at 0? Mine asks to start at a certain number, but not 0 ..

Is there a better way to find a set championship other than calling stores on the store locator site?

You can use melee
In California we have made a discord server that helps people find stores and have made a whole spreadsheet. Would talk with your local community.

Lost to 3 top 12 players so not too sad
