Amazing job by everyone involved! I love that this musical can take risks with its setting and how you play the relationships between the characters, and this production takes all the right risks and it pays off!
My favorite musical of all time, JCS. I'm an Australian, so I don't speak Swedish, but I know this play so well that I don't need to speak the language. The singing and performing speak for themselves. A couple of stand out performances, but I love the passion that every actor puts into their character. I loved it, thank you.
I saw and heard a lot of versions of JCS, but this one is definitely my favorite and I keep coming back to it all the time. I love the dynamic between Jesus, Judas and Mary, and I really appreciate that the production did not shy away from showing the romantic aspects of Jesus's and Judas's relationship, and how they made Mary a grown woman and not very young. And I don't know if you will ever read this Peter, but your performance is simply perfect. Your voice and your acting are incredible and you're without a doubt the best Judas ever.

Peter, hey, the English line "you have set them all on fire" What is the English translation for the Swedish version of this line? It sounds like maybe "you have them hypnotized"?
@@timothylowe5603 , the Swedish line in this production is "Du har försatt dom i hypnos, dom säger Jesus är Guds son", which directly translated means "You have placed them under hypnosis, they're saying Jesus is God's son" - as you rightly assumed. I keep coming back to this performance because I just love everything about it so much !! The relationship between Jesus and Judas just has me utterly captivated, excellent performances from all :)) !!
Best Judas, best Jesus, best Pilate and the best Annas ever. I feel like I could write a thousand page essay about what makes this production so good. Love it.
I don't know a lick of Swedish but I've seen jesus Christ superstar enough and am a Christian to know what's going on and the plot. This version is beautiful and I've seen it about 3 times already and it's my favourite version I've ever seen
I remember watching this when it was playing at the theater Göta Lejon with Ola Salo when I was 10 or 11 and loving it and that this performance was what cemented my love for musicals.
I'm in another JCS phase in my life as a musical nerd rn, and I gotta say- this is my favorite production! So many little choices were made that set this apart from the other sets, it's brilliant. The acting, the costumes, lighting, the damn shopping cart, and most of all the sometimes changed lyrics, it just all adds up. Jesus is a diva in this and I'm living for it, haha. Not sure if that's my favorite characterization of him but it fits here and is so well played. And ofc the shining star of this production is Judas!!! My absolute favorite Judas! I'm sorry Tim Minchin and Carl Anderson, but THIS Judas is just everything I never knew I needed. I must've watched the whole thing around 5 times in a row by now-
Currently as I'm writing this, there's a proshot of JCS in English starring Tim Minchin and Ben Forster available, but even when i watch that one all i can think about is "damn now i wanna watch the 2014 Swedish tour one"
I started learning Swedish 8 months ago and I hope there's a Reunion of this with Ola and Peter and everyone. Peter du är en fantastisk Judas!! (Apologies if the Swedish is wrong :) )
I found this the other day, and I've been listening to it on loop ever since, the performances from everybody are absolutely incredible!! I think this might be one of my favorite performances of Damned for all Time I've ever seen, the energy is incredible, and the emotion when Judas breathes out "Gethsemane" at the end gives me chills. This is definitely my favorite Mary Magdalene I've seen as well, Gunilla Backman absolutely kills it. I've always enjoyed Jesus Christ Superstar, but I think this production has reignited my love of it, and bumped it back up to one of my favorites! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!!
This is quickly turning into my favorite JCS production from the costuming to the singing. Tack så mycket for uploading! (my Swedish is terrible but I'm working on it)
I really loved the way Judas tells the Pharisees where Jesus will be. He hesitates at every step and it pains him to say “Gethsemene” but when he finally does, it’s like a weight lifts off of him for a second before guilt weighs him down again. It really shows the inner turmoil he is going through and how he genuinely loved Jesus and didn’t want to turn him in, but thought it was the right thing to do. Then, he immediately regrets it.
I thought the English lyrics of Heaven on their minds were a painfully accurate description about what Christianity has morphed into, but the Swedish ones are even better! I never thought I could like a translation more than the original! Also why did it take me this long to discover this masterpiece?😍
Sweden and other Scandinavian countries are so underrated. Come on I mean they had Abba, and Finland is one of the only countries to do heavy metal in the Eurovision. I also think Sweden may have won the most times in Eurovision, they are certainly close to having the most wins. I hope they get the recognition one day. 👏
Judas - wow! I don't know why you were dressed as Legolas but man you can sing and act. Peter Johansson is the superstar here, no doubt. As for the rest... I know everyone thinks they're a theatre critic on TH-cam but the concept for this is just so bizarre. I realise the intention was clearly to do something "different" but setting JCS against a goth, gay vampire/elvish S&M backdrop - with some cameos from the teachers at Hogwarts? Really? But like I said: Judas - wow!
I've watched this production so many times now, and each time I'm still noticing things that surprise me. But Peter, you've absolutely stolen the show here! One of the most impressive actors to play Judas I've ever seen.
I was about to complain about this performance not being in English but from the moment Judas started singing it was like being in a trance! The Swedish language is beautiful!😍

I don’t understand a word that is being said and I only know a few of the songs by heart, but I am still thoroughly entranced by this production. I’ve seen a lot of productions modernize the setting and characters of JCS but the aesthetic in this production is really unique and interesting. I really like it.

dyeanotherday thank you ☺️👍🙏
I love this version of the show even if i don’t understand the lyrics, hopefully i know them in english. The costumes and the relation between Judas and Jesus are awesome. Hi from France !
Ethany Troyabed thank you! 🙏 I’m glad you like it ☺️☀️
I keep coming back to this performance because I just love everything about it so much !!
Thank you!!! :-)
i’m here bc my friend gab said if i watched this they would watch mozart la’opera rock and tbh... Very worth it holy Shit i’m in love with this cast
A very worthy trade off
sydney m. 🥳👍🙏
There’s this touch of madness in Judas’ eyes when he hits the high notes at 5:40 and I’m here for it
I love Mary Magdalena. 40:20 is exactly how I thought Judas should have been played, maybe not as obvious, but definitely that dynamic.
12344557890azzetyuioopqsqssdgg_hjklmWxxccvvbn'!?
Soooooo..... true!
@@serinerefis9786 Are you ok?
Mina F tack 🙏☺️
Jag älskar SJCS!
Thank you!!
damn swedish metal jcs is just too good to be true
This is quickly turning into my favorite JCS production from the costuming to the singing. Tack så mycket for uploading! (my Swedish is terrible but I'm working on it)
I don't speak or understand Swedish but I love this Judas! So- translating to English in my head. And continuing to watch.
THE BEST jesus christ superstar EVER. Thank your for this Peter - love, two homosexuals
Thanks for the post, i allways wanted to watch the ola salo's version
Thanks you guys’ performance, i just fall in love with this version! Pretty cool and Rock, amazing!:)
've been watching this for like 30 times(seems like ninety) and tack så mycket with my life this is so precious...
Had no idea that this whas filmed :D. This translation is the best! Bether then some of the english ;).
Sharon Maxwell I think the style here is trying to capture the Swedish rock visual style
@Sharon Maxwell You nailed it :-) "Cameos from the teachers at Howgarts" just blew me away. You only forgot to mention the SW lightsabers we saw...
Exactly what I thought: Legolas is singing Elvish Rock Opera and it's stunning.
I've watched this production so many times now, and each time I'm still noticing things that surprise me. But Peter, you've absolutely stolen the show here! One of the most impressive actors to play Judas I've ever seen.
this is amazing!!! love how they managed the relationship of judas and jesus, i keep coming back to see it!!
Thank you very much Peter. I ve been waiting for the full version long time. ))
Anybody else think Peter Johansson as Judas looks like Henry Cavill in the witcher? No just me?
Omg. I can't unsee it now
Tusen tack!! :-)
Pretty cool. Is like a vampire clan or something. i like it :)
DirtyDayMix 🥳🦇🤟😂
Watching this and I don't know a word of Swedish.
Jem Pimentel 😂🥳👍
This is fantastic! So much better than the UK version, both with the vocals and the dynamics between the characters.
I was about to complain about this performance not being in English but from the moment Judas started singing it was like being in a trance! The Swedish language is beautiful!😍
I'm now literally asking Jesus for help with my mandatory Swedish exams
WAIT A SECOND. TAMMI??? TAMMI IS THAT YOU
excellent performance, act Ⅰ had me laughing all the time, really, it's effing hilarious, while act Ⅱ made me a little bit sad. splendid show and wonderful cast, xxoo
Equally impressing every re-watch!
Im watching this 4 years later, but damn this is AMAZING! I dont understand a word what theyre saying, but still I feel that I completely understand the plot. Im now seriously considering learning Swedish, just because I want to know what theyre saying and the singing just sounds awesome!
There’s a version with Eng subtitles somewhere on YT
Tillbaka här igen... Magiskt!
Holy Shit! Outstanding.
Really, you’re better then Tim Minchin was.
And that Kiss!
Has a post-apocolyptic feel
INCREIBLE.....................VERY VERY NICE............BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO FARINELLI......
I have been browsing through a lot of JCS versions and this is by far the most original, it really surprised me
Right!! It feels so different from other versions
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS!!!! I've been dying to see this!!!
Wow! Such a different interpretation than all the others I’ve seen, and it’s wonderful!
I don’t understand a word that is being said and I only know a few of the songs by heart, but I am still thoroughly entranced by this production. I’ve seen a lot of productions modernize the setting and characters of JCS but the aesthetic in this production is really unique and interesting. I really like it.
Hi there from Singapore! I wish you'd have a nice evening =)
This is like the vampire versión or the castlevania version
Zoan Series Oficial 😂🤟🦇
The music is very adequate.❤
on Thursday night you will find him where you want him!!!!! far from the crowds in the garden of Gethsemane !!!!!!
The Babel Tower was a true punish- ment. The people became truly devided on starting to speak in different langua ges.
I remember seeing this live, it was really good, which surprised me since I don't really watch musicals.
Jesus Cyberpunk 2077
