I really hope that you will continue this series. It has been my experience that it's far more enjoyable to listen to lore rather than reading lore. I love these videos, keep it up! :)
Thank you it was quite fun and nice to learn more lore of mass effect even if im really late in watching these as its 2023( i truly hope mass effect 4 is gonna be good)
I can't imagine how long these videos take you to complete. Thanks for all your hard work! Can't wait until the next one. Have you ever done a video on your thoughts about the ME3 ending? If so, I'd love to watch it. Also, did you ever believe in the Indoctrination Theory? Not trying to start an internet war, but just wanted to know your thoughts. I thought it would have been a pretty cool ending if it turned out to be true.
I do a little bit on indoctrination theory in this video: th-cam.com/video/g--rPI972-c/w-d-xo.html I would like to get to the ending in full detail at some point but I'd also like to chat with developers and such to give a fuller picture. Consider that a long term channel goal - to do the subject justice.
cool thanks. To be honest, I was fine with the original ending, before the DLC was released. I was fine with it because I played the game, chose to destroy, and lived with the consequences. I didn't revert my save and play through the other endings just to see what happened. I felt fine with my decision. Then I saw everyone was freaking out about it because the endings were "just a different color". Sometimes, like you said, things are better when they are left to interpretation. They 3 games were so great that the last 15 minutes shouldn't ruin it for someone.
Minius, I hate you. I've been consuming on your channel ever since I discovered it from the first joint podcast and now all this Mass Effect immersion has made me start a new playthrough of the series :)
nice .... no wonder they want to make it the center of their goverment although why not build more than one station if they are such a popular destination? the flotila could easily replicate one n live in one instead of aging ships.
Hey Minius, love the content seen most of your vids already. Keep it up. As I saw this vid I had an interesting thought; in ME 3, final fight with copy cat shep, the ship's cargo door is open while flying above the wards. Since the atmosphere doesn't extend that high, everyone should've been sucked out of the cargo bay due to the vacuum of space. How is this possible? Unless it's just from the ME fields around the Normandy or they were flying within the citadel's ME field. Thanks bud Lastly, where do you get the background music for this vid, I like it.
Excellent question. Many times the lore doesn't match up 100% with future stuff in the game. Although technically that colorless gas used to stabilize the breathable atmosphere could extend much higher. The music is a track called Robots Make Robots by Serhii Kot, who also goes by SoundWizard. ( soundwizard.info ) I don't know if you can find his track easily. So far all of the music I've used seems to be for content creators only.
Hey minius nice video as always ! Do you think there is a chance that in the future biowire would consider making other mass effect games but more like example. A strategy game total war/company of heroes type game. I mean we have seen other franchises do so. Like halo. Does mass effect have a big enough fan base to do so ? :)
I'm not sure BioWare has the resources or expertise to so something like that. Before branching out is even tried the heath of the franchise should be measured. We should have a better idea of how large the fan base is in 6-10 months.
do we know who, from the games perspective, wrote the codex? humans? official citadel group? Wondering what kind of prejudice might exist in it, like the casting off of the batarian population estimate. Might give interesting insights to the accuracy of the knowledge in it
The codex isn’t meant to be written by anyone. It’s meant to give player unbiased and accurate lore, so they can learn more about the galaxy without exposition
I love your videos, man. I just finished the Mass Effect Trilogy for the first time and it was an incredible experience. I can't wait for Andromeda to be released in Q1 2017. Do you think it will be a seperate story or will it become another trilogy?
there is something on my mind about the genophage. the Korgan on tuchunka were cured but are we to assume that the Korgan in the new game still have the genophage. I doubt all Korgan were cured since the cure was released on the home world. Wait does that mean Grunt still has it!
The Krogan-Andromeda-Genophage question is something they'll have to answer. I assume the cure was spread all over Tuchanka so theoretically any krogan who wasn't there could go back and drink some water or something for a cure but they didn't really get into that.
Do air born cures effect water? I just mention it because the cure was across the planet. Not every krogan alive was on the planet. Also remember Mordin mention that his team spread the genophage update throughout the planet with water sources directly. The cure is based off a modification from basic genophage. Did he just decide oh got to use the shroud tower but also should make cure effect water sources to catch krogan missed. I could just be thinking too hard and the Krogan could be children post genophage cure or pre genophage. Either way I can't wait for this game.
I always had the feeling the Keepers would get explained (or at least partly) in the then-final game. It's even hinted somewhat with that one Keeper taking of a dead guy's helmet when Shepard arrives on the Citadel. Would there be a chance we could get some info on them in Andromeda?
I think the chance of getting more keepers is extremely low. It doesn't make sense for them to play a part in Andromeda and it wouldn't make sense to give additional info about a species that plays no part in the game.
Minius GC Yeah, you're most likely right. It's highly unlikely the Keepers had a hand in the Hyperion's (and other Ark's) construction. Unless those things were secretly stored in the Citadel, which would come out of nowhere and wouldn't make much sense.
Well... there isn't much more to know about them besides what was already explained in the games... They were one of the earlier a races (maybe the first after the Leviathans) to be harvested. They were genetically altered (just like the reapers did with the collectors) to keep and maintain the Citadel and serve its the inhabitants until the Reaper who was left behind from the previous circle sends them a signal that would make them activate the Citadel mass relay to dark space. Since they are tasked with keeping the citadel working, intact and ready for the new inhabitants to arrive... The keeper at the end of ME3 was simply doing his job. Taking the bodies of the people to some "recicler", and wiping all the records and any evidence of the people who lived there and the reapers.
Rhidor *Where they came from?* They were once a race harvested by the Reapers. Now they are probably thank bread by the Citadel as needed and imprinted (like Grunt) with all the information needed to performed their task. *Where they go?* To the part of the Citadel where their breading/feeding station is... also probably the core of The Catalyst. Also other inaccessible parts of the city doing their normal function of maintaining the station. *Why they do what they do?* Because they were genetically engineered and implanted with cybernetics to obey the Citadel commands. They don't have freewill. They are biological robots following commands. Any other question I can help you with?
+Minius GC you speak well and you know a lot about the games. i think it would be a good topic, especially with the new game coming out. you can talk about your favorite squad mates and why.
Do you think it would make sense for Ryder to have a new species from Andromeda as a squad mate? To me it doesn't make sense because why would a native inhabitant help these strangers colonize their worlds and take over their galaxy/cluster.
Depends on the story. An alien could easily join up to seek revenge against another alien faction or something. I don't think the Milky Way colonists will be in conflict with everyone - but who knows?
1:55 -- you didn't mention that the higher human population is likely due to humanity only recently having begun exploration, the largest humany colony, Terra Nova, having a population of only 3 million. Other races' colonies are much greater, as you later mentio.
Exactly! Even in Mass Effect, everyone pronounces it boo-ey and it annoys me! 0/10 would not play trilogy again (actually have played trilogy 9 times and counting). - Rees of TCM
minus will be the new voice of the codex.
Can you do a lore video on Eezo and the Mass Effect/biotics and how it all works (as well as any steps of their discovery--if that info is available)
Mark Dekin that would be great
Time to watch some more Minius! HUZZAH!
HUZZAH!!!!
Excelsior!!!
I really hope that you will continue this series. It has been my experience that it's far more enjoyable to listen to lore rather than reading lore.
I love these videos, keep it up! :)
@FalloutSpectre A shame. :(
Thanks for clearing up all the wards and arms and all that for us :p
Is it clearer or more confusing?
+Minius GC Oh, much clearer! Sorry, I didn't mean to sound sarcastic!
+Sanjay Pavone I was legitimately curious :)
+Minius GC no worries! :p your videos are always great. Keep it up, man!
Thanks!
been wating for this video for so long, great work man keep it up and can wait for the 14 more lore videos !
Well I've got 14 with more to come. Who knows how many more there will be?
Just finished watching this entire playlist. Loved it all!
MASS EFFECT RULES!
I'm really enjoying this series. Thanks. The Prothean visions would be a nice addition.
Thank you it was quite fun and nice to learn more lore of mass effect even if im really late in watching these as its 2023( i truly hope mass effect 4 is gonna be good)

Sounds terrible :)
Manm I;m at the point where I don't even care if it's about ME, I could just listen to Minius talk for 9 hours. So relaxing.
yaye! also, i am reading the Books now and the timesicle and extranet stuff seems odly familiar ;)
This was awesome. Please do more lore videos.
Hoping to get back to these soon. I definitely will once Andromeda comes out.
Javik said Trillions not 1 Trillion was his Cycles population and casualty count... But everything else was awesome and keep them coming.
In short, the Milky Way has no Net Neutrality

The time stuff I'm pretty sure came from the first ME book revelation I think.
Correct
2.300 views, no dislikes... Oh yeah, that must be a Minius video, for shure.

Man your videos are awesome for sure, but I really wished we knew so much more about the keepers.
A great final part to the series and begs the question, are you planning on doing another series in the near future?
Possibly. This series was an accident.
+Minius GC Ah, I see. Well it was a pretty great accident.
This was great!
So damn good videos
Aren't the keepers AI that the reapers made to maintain the station between cycles and stuff

I think the milky way population during the 2180s would be somewhere between 400,000,000,000 and 600,000,000,000
It’s stated that the galactic population is roughly one billion
I remember in the first game they mention the population of the galaxy to be in the trillions
