Boulogne-sur-Mer! You even can see the UK from there! It is a nice small town near the sea with historical city center, quite close to Lille. I lived for some time in Nancy and I can definetly recommend Strasbourg, Metz and all small villages in Alsace!
Ah Shoreditch, had many good memories there. Love the Blues Kitchen especially. For me though curry in London means Brick Lane (just a couple hundred meters east of Shoreditch). Is it authentic Indian curry? maybe not. Is it a "proper" British-Indian curry experience? absolutely. Glad you caught the good weather for your trip though!
Yes, London curry is amazing - not to stay that it would be the same as authentic Indian! Didn't know though that Brick Lane specifically is the place to go to get good curry!

It really depends on what kind of a trip you want to do and where you're travelling! It's good to plan your activities ahead and have a good amount of savings.
