This is the lens that got me into Fujifilm. I hired this with an X-H2 and was ‘unofficial amateur photographer’ at a school fundraiser stage show. Low light performance and IQ were brilliant, and coupled with the film sims, I shared all the files as SOOC jpegs. I didn’t touch a single one. That’s worth its weight in gold to me as with two young kids, I have no time to edit shots for hours on end.
I feel the same - I've been pumping out JPEGs SOOC lately and other than wishing I could straighten some, they usually come out pretty awesome. I share them with family and then revisit them in LR or C1 later when I want to fine-tune/make higher resolution files (but with better compression) for printing. But I mean how hard would it be for Fuji to make it so we could do the adjustments in real-time sorta like an iPhone? The in-camera interface is SO clunky - make a change, preview, make a change, preview, etc. until its about right. Plus I find myself making a lot of large files that I then have to crop/re-size after creation. I usually am in the ballpark with my default "recipe" but doing 25 images the other night still took me like an hour+ and more time when rating/focus checking. Frankly I can't really win either way! Its either instant gratification, or waiting until I can sit down and really focus.
For real, when i bought this new version of the 23mm f1.4 . I was blown away. I don't have alot of lenses but i do have the 18-55, 27 f2.8 new version, the 35f2, and the 23f2. None have impressed me like the new 23mm f1.4. It's razor sharp wide open and it has 9 ap blades instead of 7. which is a plus as well. In my opinion. I am using these lenses on an X-E1. Maybe the 16mp is why the sharpness impact is so noticeable IDK but i am very happy with its focus performance as well as its sharpness and the bokeh & transition to out of focus areas.
I run with 18mm, 23mm and 33mm f1.4 set. Love them all for different reasons. Use 23mm most in street 18mm most in landscape. 33mm is lovely for anything at all too.
