I’m a diesel mechanic still waiting for my 190 visa 3years and 10 months. It’s moved on to further assessment as added 2 more documents from 26th august 2023, what the hell is going on ?!? Yet they open up and take more money when they still haven’t got through the backlog. Why do they do this, you pay for a service and you should get the result, I bet you can’t answer that one can you?

Great video! I am holding 482 visa in my current company for 18 months, but now they are laying me off since we don't have projects. In the pandemic era, i also held an 482 visa for a fixed period of 1 year. Of course i earn some more experience point for my skilled independent (which i still didn't get invited 2 years waiting for invitation), but for me as i am ICT Business Analyst, i have just wasted these 2.5 years in companies that underpay me. I cant wait to get better options for 482 to transit to PR without needing the company to sponsor again. Its all frustrating and i cant stop thinking if i should stay in Australia or move to another country where they actually give immigrants a shot. Anyway, 5 years of experience in Australia, 8 in Brazil, but heading to my 3rd skill assessment here, since the previous ones expired, and same for english test and about to face job hunting as a 482 visa holder, which companies despise. YAY AUSTRALIA!

Unfortunately the timeline for 491 has increased. I am being told that the number merely reflects the average of past 2 or 3 months processing. Means the older applications they process the timeline will stretch based on their avg timeline. Is this logic right? And ya, yes, thanks as always ❤

We are waiting over 17+ for 491 visa(offshore with 110 points) & now they increased processing time again..How are they going to clear this by extending processing time. Bit confused and fedup with this.. Age is not stopping for us and seems other countries are more convinient to get a visa.. DOHA is not considering it and just clearing their reputation not visa backlog... we are loosing hope day by day and wasting money to rental properties in home country.

Hi Karl, Thank you for your valuable information through your updates. Just a clarification, why is SC 491 Visa processing time differing for applicants. Some who applied through a different agent received the ACT Visa in 5 months where as i am still waiting for the same beyond 5 months. Both are not related to health sector and hence no priority. The waiting game is really killing and we are not able to plan anything properly.

Hi Karl, Isn’t it criminal act to prioritise offshore skilled applicants when there are so many onshore applicants waiting for the invitation in the queue. Australia is a country as a whole but the skilled applicants living in one state are not eligible to apply for 190/491 in other states baring WA. Most of the states have living period and work criteria which makes impossible to apply barring the state they are living and working. Ain’t this unfair? Now WA is giving RN NEC invitation to the nurse from overseas when we have heaps of skilled nurses graduated from Australian universities itself. Same goes with other states. This is so unfair because they are happy to bring more people from overseas in this housing and rental crisis time when there are so many skilled people living and working in their nominated occupation. Like offshore applicants, onshore applicants living in any state or territory should be eligible to apply 190/491 application in all states for the invitation. If there is so much rental crisis then why not to stop offshore migration when there are enough skilled people already living and working in Australia. Also skilled people already living here are using the infrastructure so they won’t add any burden or pressure to the housing or any other commodity. Why states and the government don’t understand this? If any state give us invitation barring the state we live than we are happy to migrate and settle in the state that have nominated us for our moral obligations and as a gratitude but they just don’t realise this and prioritise offshore applicants making us ineligible to apply. They should only bring skilled people from overseas when we don’t have enough workers in that occupation in the Australia country as a whole. If particular states are having issues than better to utilise the resources within Australia i.e skilled people living and working in other states. But the government are dumb and don’t understand this and happy to bring more people from overseas. Could you please focus on this matter in upcoming edition? Thanks Karl as usual for the update

Karl I’m surprised about this 25 nov update with all the backlogs. Don’t you think it will just add to the backlog which they haven’t cleared or do you think the review and new procedures will be announced which will dramatically reduce waiting times ? Also not sure how the 186 planning levels for this financial year won’t be reached quickly with these added visas

    • @ailsaustralia

Please also raise an issue with 188 visa. My parents have lodge their visa in May 2021 and we haven't heard back anything from the immigration.

Hi Karl, thanks for this video, This is great but still alot of reliance is placed on Employers to Sponsor, many of whom are willing to rather extend a 482 visa... I don't see options for 482's to get direct pr, without having to beg employers or go the 189/190 route ( I.e privately).. Are there any news of additional updates to come, to avoid the employers having too much power on the 482 visas?

Hi Karl, I have a question. In one of your older videos you talked about the cruelty of 189/190/491 visa applicants not allowed to change their relationship status cause that might lose points. What if someone finds a partner that can produce competent English results and positive skill assessment with the occupation on the same list as the main applicant, while applicants are waiting for their visa to be granted? If someone can truly find that partner, adding that partner midway as secondary applicant should be much faster than going through partner visa pathway given its lengthy processing times.
Also, love the humor at 8:07.

If i have the experience needed (hypothetically), a year or two whatever, but if i was employed on casual basic, full time, 50+h per week, superannuation was paid, tax deducted, but NO sick leave pays, holiday pays etc...does it mean that it won't be accepted and counted for working or some other visa because it is not a PERMANENT EMPLOYMENT? While it is great to see that there have been changes in the 482 visa, it is also disheartening for others who are waiting for the government to consider those who have been working very and continually contributing to the government but unable to have a PR pathway due to age restrictions . So, if about 100k 482 visa was granted in the last financial year, compare to 186 planning level of just 30k last FY and 32k this FY. Does that mean we will have a lot more “permanently temporary” 482 visa holders starting from next year renewing, renewing and renewing, but unable to get a chance for 186 TRT? Isn’t “reducing the number of people being permanently temporary” Labor’s election promise?

@@saadhassan7431 which then reduces the chances of 189/190/491 hopefuls for an invitation. The best solution to this dilemma, which we all know the Government is hesitant to take, is to massively increase the quota. If they don't want to increase the quota, one way to get around it is to redesign 482 to work similar to 491->191. So, 186 DE would be abolished, and 482 grants would count towards yearly PR migration intake. After 2 years, 482 holders can apply for 186 TRT with simpler rules and streamlined processing (ideally without the need for another nomination again).
