    I like the part where he talks about how careful you have to be witht the screw, then proceeds to completely strip the screw.

    Got the same problem with the screw what tool did you use to cut the screw into a flat head

    • @krotchlickmeugh627
      @krotchlickmeugh627 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Use the right screwdriver. A jis #2
      Japanese standard.
      If you already stripped them out. Use vice grips to loosen them. Or use a dremel to cut a slot in the head of the screw thrn use a flat head

    So I just picked up a 2003 ltz400 and was trying to get it to start, their is spark and when I opened the oil reservoir it was mixed gasoline... i took it all out and put new oil, cranked it a few times and was instantly mixed gasoline again.. at this point the gas tank was off... I'm thinking the carb is bad??

    • @TorrentPerformance
      @TorrentPerformance  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you sure it is gas. Email me and send me pictures. My email is in description below. Its probably antifreeze.

    • @00Marez00
      @00Marez00 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TorrentPerformance its definitely gasoline, it smells just like gas. I just don't know how gas will end up in the oil.

    • @TorrentPerformance
      @TorrentPerformance  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bad rings could be alot of things. Did you rebuild the engine?

    • @00Marez00
      @00Marez00 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TorrentPerformance Thanks for the quick response!! truly appreciate it. I bought it like that, the guys said it needed the carb rebuilt and a battery. I drained the oil, and put in some fresh one. with the gas tank off I cranked a few times with starter fluid and nothing...

    • @562handsomemike
      @562handsomemike 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Manuel Mares perhaps when you drained it, not all came out (reservoir)? I’m doing the same thing later today. Make sure you look inside your gas tank and verify that the pick up tubes still have the strainers on them for the petcock inside the gas tank both of mine were broken and damaged causing fuel that was mixed with oxidized metal/rust from the inside of a gas cap to get down into the carburetor bowl

  • @jornjorn3837

    I have a 2006 LTZ 400 and the carb keeps flowing over. What might be the problem here ?

    • @TorrentPerformance
      @TorrentPerformance  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What did you do that caused this? Usually a stuck needle or a bad needle and seat will cause this. Also the float must be set properly to allow needle to open and close for fuel.

    • @jornjorn3837
      @jornjorn3837 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TorrentPerformance i already found out the vacuum type fueltap was bad because it's not closing when in the 'on' position it should only flow free in the 'pri' position. When i took the tap apart it was full of brown debree and also the 2 filter pipes that go inside the tank were completely missing. So that's one thing, but i know a carb should never flow over. It just started today when i smelled gasoline and saw dripping from the overflow line.

    • @TorrentPerformance
      @TorrentPerformance  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you take everything apart on the carb and clean the carb? Sounds like you may have debris in the seat that the needle goes to. If the carb and gas tank is vaccum operated it won't work properly if anything is in there.

    • @jornjorn3837
      @jornjorn3837 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TorrentPerformance thanks man, i just opened the float chamber and found some brown gunk in the corners. Also cleaned out the jets and needle seat. Now it opens and closes like it should. I have to wait on the new fuel tap and filter to test it out. Btw, where does the air vent hose go that comes from the top of the carburator? I forgot if it was connected to something or not.

    • @562handsomemike
      @562handsomemike 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jorn Jorn all of the brown debris in your fuel tank is probably from the original gas cap that have a piece of zinc coated or galvanized metal on the inside. I just discovered last night that on my Kawasaki KFX 400 that both of the pick up tube’s are broken off and they probably have been for quite a while. I know when I needed the reserve at one point it was already empty just like the primary probably because they were broken and I would assume that all that gunk got right into the bowl of your carburetor since there’s no in-line filter. I am in the same situation. I am pulling my carburetor today to see if I can clean the bowl and the needle/plunger well enough for the float to Meter the fuel flow properly

    Why do people rebuild carbs if they only cost like 50 bucks

    • @TorrentPerformance
      @TorrentPerformance  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those $50 carbs are Chinese not Japanese made. Really big difference in quality.

    • @robertomagallanes2564
      @robertomagallanes2564 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      TorrentPerformance but the Jets and other parts are like American or Chinese made so then what’s the point? Also how much are Japanese made ones?

    • @TorrentPerformance
      @TorrentPerformance  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Quality is the point. That's why the Chinese ones aren't put on from the factory. The Chinese ones are very cheaply made.
