    TH-cam automatically detected this video's game to be "Magic: The Gathering Arena"... Everyone! Grab your pitchforks!

    I just played a recursion Yorick deck in Path to Carcosa. Discarding the Police Badge for 2 extra actions, killing a monster, then playing my Police Badge back into play from my discard pile over and over gave me a lot of extra actions.

    This is SO helpful! I am going to be using this video to build/upgrade my next Survivor deck. Thanks, again, folks!!

    This is my personal favorite archetype, and its why red became my favorite color for this game over time. Red just gets stuff done, and rolls with the hate the game throws at it. In particular, I favor the Resourceful -> True Survivor engine and abuse strong innate cards like Brute Force. There's also a nice upgrade path where you can start out as a slightly variant Dark Horse deck at level 0 and upgrade out of it with XP spends, replacing Dark Horse itself w/ True Survivor. It's absurdly good in Stella (as you mention), but it works for several other red 'gators too.
    Side note, this series of archetype guides you guys have been doing is top notch work.

    Why no mention of Patrice? The weird way that her deck functions generates a huge discard pile.

  • @Dehalove

    Why not include Patrice?

    • @lazulin
      @lazulin 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also expected to see Patrice, given she discards every round.

      I can't speak for the others, but I don't think she's as good for the archetype as other the investigators included in this video. Yeah, she gets a new hand every round, but she's more about working with what you have than taking advantage of these discards she's forced to use.

      @@PlayingBoardGames Fully agree with this. While it’s easy to discard stuff, she’s much better at just having stuff you can play out constantly. Yorick and others are much better choices.

    Not recursion focused, but True Survivor is also great in Silas because of the Innate synergies.

    Is Schoffner's Catalog a key include now given that it will help you pay for the items your are recurring, and you can also recur it once you run out?

    • @PlayingBoardGames
      @PlayingBoardGames  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would definitely consider it in most asset focused recursion decks.

    Question about "Fortuitous Discovery" .... am I able to simply commit this card to a skill test (even though it offers nothing) to get it into my discard pile?
    Also, thanks for these videos; it gets my mind thinking about creative possibilities!

    • @PlayingBoardGames
      @PlayingBoardGames  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because Fortuitous Discovery has no skill icons, it cannot be committed to skill tests. That's why investigators that can easily discard cards (or cards that let you discard cards) have better success with Fortuitous Discovery.

      Why did you put hyphens? They aren’t correct there, and especially don’t make sense after Wendy

    • @PlayingBoardGames

      I am not sure what card you are referring to, but I imagine it has the Myriad keyword, which allows you to have up to 3 copies in your deck.

      I believe that while Patrice can succeed in this archetype, she isn't as good for it as the investigators included in this video are.
