    For someone like me, who has always been fascinated by just what a brilliantly weird 63 years the Victorian era was, and all the huge engineering of the time, it seems, through your superb series, Casca, that the clothes were also marvels of engineering - something that I'd never considered before now! Thank you!

    I kinda really want a shirt like that now! It looks so good, especially the contrasting textures of the pleats and gathers against the black.

      You should make one! I've now fixed the misaligned pleats coz they were doing my head in 😂

    Looks great! And I LOVE the idea of Edwardian fashion + HR Geiger.

    That's a really cool blouse indeed :) Also, I love the pumpkin pin cushion :)

      Thank you ❤️ I really need to remake that pin cushion. I made it out of felt and it leaves orange fibers everywhere.

    That's a complicated pattern but the result looks great! Good job! 🌟

      Thanks 😊 So am I, it's cool seeing it come together. I'm going to make an Alien brooch to pin on the shirt 😁 I'm also going to make a hat with a full chestburster on it. If the Victorians can have full birds on their hats I think I can do this 😂

      @@craftingwithcasca oh if Victorians had access to small creatures from space they 100% would have stuck them on hats.
      This is completely accurate, in spirit ;)

    Good morning, Casca! This was a great video and you do such fantastic work! It's inspiring to see how you take a regular pattern and make it your own. Not sure I'm quite brave enough to do that...yet. I'm excited to see this project progress! Keep up the great work!

    • @craftingwithcasca
      @craftingwithcasca  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you ❤️ I'm definitely going to see if I can rework the front pannals coz the unevenness is doing my head in 😂 I'll also be asking lots of people for advice before starting on the jacket coz I'm not doing too good with pleats at the moment lol.

      @@craftingwithcasca I've just begun to think about all the different types of pleats, myself. I have started sewing dresses for my granddaughters and incorporating pleating and smocking into the designs. That's what has started my train of thought on this topic. ...something I might need to get figured out before I wade out any farther into the Historic Sewing pool. lol

    Some get self conscious I prefer it as it sets me to self acceptance it as a pattern isn't one I've public worn to antagonize or to ask I made several worn those for that why you look nice there ;enjoy.

      I used Truly Victorian TV494 for the base pattern. The pleated bits I made up myself, basically by pleating a long length of fabric, pleating it, tacking it down and then cutting my pattern pieces out of the pleated fabric. The pattern is pretty much the same as the original apart from the two pleated panels at the front.
