    thank you so much for this Video! I always thought i just had to live with the shorts riding up my thigh, no matter how wide the legs were , but your mockups and explanation showed that it has nothing to do with leg width and i am really eager to try and make myself some dream shorts that still safe my thighs from rubbing together in summer :)

    • @craftingwithcasca
      @craftingwithcasca หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do hope this is helpful. When it comes to leg width, something I found was that having the inner thigh area curve in more rather than go straight down helps reduce excess fabric in that area.

    Thanks for the video. I have the same fit issue. I wonder if industrial pattern makers think everyone over size 8 is pregnant. There is always a colossal amount of extra fabric in the waist on store bought clothes. And the fabric goes down very low in the back.

    • @craftingwithcasca
      @craftingwithcasca หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm glad you found it helpful 🙂 I know what you mean. It's like they make the pants bigger width wise but don't give any extra for the bum.

  • @ArawynnEveningstar

    This is amazing. Thank you for this tutorial. I have given up wearing shorts and pants that aren't leggings because they never fit properly. I'm a plus sized, vertically challenged, short torso, girlie and in order to fit my backside and thighs I end up having to buy pants/shorts bigger than my waist is and then I have a huge gap of material in waist area and I am unable to wear belts because I hate feeling constricted and things digging in. I think I might attempt to make myself some shorts using this method and see if it is possible for me. May make me try pants at some point.

    • @craftingwithcasca
      @craftingwithcasca หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you ❤️ I'm so glad you found this useful. It's so disheartening when you try on pants in the shop and nothing fits right. Next for me with this pattern is going to be some comfy joggers and work out pants.

    • @ArawynnEveningstar
      @ArawynnEveningstar หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@craftingwithcasca It is very disheartening for sure. I didn't wear dress pants for so long because I could never find any that fit right after my son was born. My husband at the time (now ex-husband) took me shopping at a new plus sized store that came into the mall near us, I tried on a pair of dress pants that actually fit but when I saw the price tag I was going to put them back. He told me to get them because the smile I had on my face when I put them on was worth the price of the pants. That has been the only time in the last 20 years I have found a pair of dress pants to fit me like that and didn't make me want to cry. Usually I would try on so many different pairs of pants and nothing fit right. Now stores no longer carry petite plus size and you can only order online. No way I am buying online only to have the hassle of trying to return them, since some of the stores won't take back in store. I think my only option is to make my own at this point.

    You did beautiful work on this! I think the alteration to bring the side front of the neckline in changed the angle so that it was not as low cut as you had originally planned and left you with extra fabric in the front that you so charmingly gathered. Did you shorten the shoulder in the front to accommodate the alterations to the back? That would also bring the neckline back up. Well done, and thank you for sharing with us!

    What a smashing outfit! 👍 And, hey, great minds think alike. I’ve been DYING to make a Regency dress from this skull and crossbones fabric I’ve seen online. I love the effect of a dress that looks dotted at a distance, but up close you can see that it’s really skulls. It just warms the cockels of my little, goth heart. 😄 As for tying on the bonnet… Have you tried playing with the dimensions of the ribbon? Maybe you need a wider ribbon that makes an even bigger bow?

    After a rough few days, this video cheered me up immensely! My head is hurting less now. Thank you! I love the dress and how it turned out. It looks really cute and the Spencer is complimentary too. I did catch the armband mistake and you can fix it if you like. Your choice. I was thinking of a black dupioni Regency dress for evening wear or a ball gown. I have the black opera gloves to wear with it. I cringe over Bridgerton but the off dresses give me ideas about making Goth dresses. If I were to make the dress I am thinking of, perhaps it can be worn as a wedding dress if I ever get married again.

    Looks really great! I think the reason you enjoyed having the colours this way so much is that on each side you’ve created a triadic colour story! Red yellow and blue always look good together, reminds us of childhood bc so many children’s toys use these colours. Orange green and purple also meld super well together, and you’ll often see these colours for Halloween themes and maybe a bit in Mardi Gras as well! Very successful, great job

    Brava! What a cute dress! And well done with the makeup! I thought you might enjoy a little context. What you have is actually called a “Mondrian Dress.” It was designed by Yves Saint-Laurent back in… 1965? He based the design on paintings by the Dutch abstract painter, Piet Mondrian. Mondrian was a pioneer in abstract art, peaking in the 1920s and 30s and is considered one of the most important 20th century artists. The original YSL collection had 6 pieces (two - I think it’s two -are at the V&A, next time you’re out and about) that became so popular they were featured on various fash-mag covers, including Vogue, and were almost immediately copycatted around the world. There was even a trend of single-use paper Mondrian dresses to be had. If I understand correctly, almost none of these paper dresses exist anymore, obviously, and the few that do are much much sought after by collectors. Anyway, like I said, fantastic job!
