My biggest assessment on Islam and Islam in comparison to khabib is that Islam is a far better striker. Both guys don’t absorb a whole lot of clean strikes , but for different reasons. Khabib had good defense but islams striking defense is lightyears better, but khabib didn’t take a lot of clean strikes because unlike Islam who is fine being patient and defensive, khabib was relentless and aggressive. Khabib was also far less accurate in terms of his tds, but again, he also attempted far more then islam. Both guys have very good control, but khabib seemed to be far better at control, and gnp, where as islam seems better at advancing his position and finding the finish fast. So their grappling is very close overall it would seem even though they are different. But from what I can see, by far the biggest difference that separates the two, more then even khabibs relentless almost terminator like aggression which is a huge factor in a lot of his fights seems to be their chins and durability. Khabib has rarely been hit clean as well, BUT he has been hit clean and by some of the biggest hitters of the Div. He got cracked clean and actually moving directly into a shot from Michael Johnson that would have knocked out cold a LOT of even durable guys. It caused khabib to retreat but he didn’t wobble or lose his footing or seem rattled and he almost immediately went right back into attack mode. Dustin also caught khabib clean with that switch shift overhand combo he throws so well , didn’t even phase him. Gaethje caught khabib clean as well with an uppercut left hook, a combo they would again knock a LOT of other fighters out and khabib tanked it. Islam on the other hand was knocked out cold by a fighter who nobody really even knows, and a fighter who when you look at his stats is more of a bjj guy then a KO artist. Islam also was dropped to a knee from a jab from Davi Ramos, and there was a moment people seemed to miss in the Charles fight where Charles clipped Islam with an upkick that seemed to visibly rattle Islam. Volk as well got huge reactions out of Islam during their fight including scoring 2 kds, and he stunned him a few other times as well and volk had a 20 lb weight difference , and volk even in his own Div is far more or a volume and very accurate and fast striker rather then a one shot power type of guy. So I think basically in terms of overall skills, it would seem that islam might actually be slighter better then khabib, but I think in terms of just sheer aggression, and durability and the ability in rare instances guys can touch you or keep the fight standing, khabib seems to be able to take big shots that I don’t think Islam can which means that I think there are potential matchups for Islam that whether he should be clearly favored or not, he could potentially lose against guys khabib either easily beat or would have beaten. Guys like fiziev or Poirier or chandler or gaethje come to mind.
They're both completely different. Khabib has a granite chin, superb cardio and much higher fight IQ. And nobody in MMA history has used the fence better than Khabib, and his ground control is extremely extraordinary in comparison with all the others...
Ariel, IVs were banned bc they can be used to flush out banned substances from the blood stream much faster e.g use something to aid an extreme weight cut, weigh in, then rehydrate & flush out the substance with IV & u're clean for the post fight tests. In addition, fighters were doing the most extreme weighcuts (worse than rn) to the point where they could barely walk, knowing that they can rehydrate quickly with IV.
Youre telling me with only a handful of fights in the ufc and Alex pereira is in the top 10 pound for pound rankings. Yeah sure he beat Izzy but 90% of the fight was a kickboxing match and Alex knows Izzy due to fighting him 3 times. I’d say give him at least another year in the top 20

I really don't know who wins between Fiziev/Gaethje and Charles/Beneil, but the winners of those bouts will need some time to recover and prepare so I think you have a good window to book Poirier vs Islam in July or August. Dustin deserves a third shot at the title, he's in his prime, and he earned it with the victory over Chandler.

Aldo has longevity, but he was still in his prime when he fought Mendes the 2nd time, and his very next fight he got murked. Holloway had less longevity than Aldo, Volk beat Max in his prime 3 times. I would go Aldo, Volk, Conor, Max.
