last year most of us dressed up like characters from the nativity story. and sometimes if we can get people on board, we'll do the nativity play (usually it's just me and my siblings). we celebrate in the evening on the 24th, we all bring something to eat for dinner and then usually on the 25th we eat brunch. if I'm at my mom's/grandma's I have a stocking on the 25th, if not I don't really get candy at my dad's. instead I get an exotic fruit or an avocado 😅😊
On Christmas eve, we all get the others a small gift(most of the times a little bit funny and cute) and then we eat snacks that remind us of Christmas, and we always watch a movie!
I used to work at Walmart when I was 21, and it was the first time in my life I became disturbed by the consumerism of holidays. I’m no longer working at Walmart, but I’m 29 now and I’m even more disgusted than I was before. Social media “hauls”, “restock” videos, and “run, don’t walk!” item alerts gross me out. Please stop wasting your money on junk. And shame on the influencers making money off of this crap.
I also used to work at Walmart! I was a photolab technician! I'd say those types of gifts are nice, but even working in retail now in a different setting, consumerism is horrible and I am also disturbed. The influencers who literally make a living off of "restocking" drive me nuts. What value do you add to anyones life? Nadda.
@@Mwithie not judgemental to acknowledge the amount of waste that others are accumulating! Also, I am a Christian creator first and foremost, so I will always mention Jesus. The question, who is it hurting? The planet. And the people who consume to this extreme even if they aren't aware of it.
@@Mwithieshe’s just saying that overconsumption is not good. The holidays shouldn’t be about overconsumption. We can focus more on making our own decorations and holding on to our old decorations (for memory sake and nostalgia) rather than buying the cheap stuff from home goods and Marshall’s. We should focus on our family and friends. I’m not religious, in fact I dislike religion, but this video isn’t religious. However, it is doing good for the planet and people. She wants people to save their money and help the planet too
I think a lot of people try to fill the void of not having a happy family Christmas as you described. Some people had that dynamic once and then family passed away or moved and their Christmases don’t feel as full or magical as they did when we were children, so the idea of being prepared with Christmas items makes us feel like we can maybe recreate that joy. Some people never had happy family Christmases at all so they’re trying to create their own magic. But as you said nothing can replace family in one’s heart.
this is definitely true! I think the intention behind it, is also a factor! I don't blame people if that is why they are doing something. It's when it becomes impulse buying that it's a problem.
I think it’s opposite or not related at all. people want to impress those who come to their place. We don’t have family around and apart for decorations that we have for years, we don’t bother buying holiday themes stuff. The house is still pretty and festive, but it’s for us, no need to overdo. Consumerism is a sickness and you are either sick or not.
Best way is to do things for other people. I've worked every Christmas at sea for the last three years. I crochet little ornaments for my shipmates and try to raise spirits at work.
@@savedsav Well perhaps you could make a simple paper, perhaps handmade advent calender with daily passages to read from the Bible. Then you can make a christmas manger/crafts or do activities related to the story theme of the day. Visit choirs, plays, read christian christmas stories.
I loved seeing this from a Christian's perspective! People so often worship stuff, rather than our Creator, and forget about the reason for Christmas - Christ. Nothing else matters when you peel everything back and focus on everything God has done for us and remember why we celebrate Christmas in the first place.
thank you so much! I understand some people may not agree with my faith, but I am not going to ever stop talking about Jesus, or incorporating faith into my videos. Thanks for being here!
I can say with confidence… I use it all until it’s gone bc I refuse to waste money. I wear my Christmas pjs all year long and until they don’t fit or are in poor condition. Your video came at just the right time though because although I use the items, I don’t NEED to buy them to begin with. Thank you.
It's great that you've found a way to make things last! It's important to use what we have. But I am glad my video helped you see some things! Thank you.
For me, the overconsumerism in Tik Tok is very annoying and unuseful ! You're so right about the importance to spend holiday times very well with our family, who takes us care and brings us joy, love and confidence in our life. And, as a Christian, to remember one of beautiful gifts from God, the birth of Jesus and his mission to save us from our sins and give us repetance, love and joy. Have an amazing family is one of precious gifts , that God have gifts to us. I'm very grateful to God that I have a lovely family ❤️ ! Rest in peace to your father with God, Jesus and the Saints ✨️
My husband went into $6,000 debt 2 years ago just because of Christmas and other living expenses. We still have not recovered from that ONE Christmas!!!
I teared up at your tribute to your Papa. The grief never really goes away, so I'm offering my support and condolences. My Granny and I were both born the week before Christmas. I waited 2 hours, so I didn't share her birthday, but was the day after. We were so close. She passed in 1999, but her lifetime spanned wagons, horseless carriages, and then airplanes. I miss her every Christmas.
I love love love Christmas - but I don’t like decorating, putting up a tree, lights, etc. I love and appreciate going to see that at other people’s homes. It’s nice to come home to a clear mind, in a busy season.
My dad and sister were the type to give each of us maybe 4 or 5 presents, which made me extremely stressed because I felt obliged to do likewise, with limited income. And then the pandemic came and she lost her job, while I kept mine due to my line of work. The whole family had to adjust this "tradition" because, quite bluntly, money was scarce. We've had better Christmases since, focusing more on the food, music and laughs, than in actual presents. Finances since have improved, but we've quit consumerism.
I give food. Cookies and bread. With no expectation in return. I am in the kitchen baking anyways, so I make a few more and share. And thats Christmas.
This is the first year in a long time that me and the Mrs. are buying each other gifts. We buy gifts for our children, and our nieces and nephews, and it turned out great. No one in the family complained. We were all broke anyway!
13:06 I remember the American Girl doll I got. The snowboard, a set of dvds to a tv show I loved. The decorations we reused every year, the food Mom made, cousins coming over, Grandma and Papas on Christmas eve. I also lost Papa around Christmas. Dec. 23, 2016. I still remember laugh.
Christmas is always such a back and forth battle with me. I want to make it magical for my kids and give lots of nice gifts and on the other hand I hate all the pressure I put myself under. I also lost my dad this year :( it was very unexpected. My heart goes out to you too.
@magical for your Kids. What Kids find or don't find magical is rarely consistent with social Media Trends. My parents were broke when we were small, but they tried to give us a Christmas like everyone else had. Then something happened: On November 1st my family meets up to pray for the dearly departed. This used to be a Tradition in my country, it is even a national holiday still, now it is rarely observed. But my family keeps it up. You get together at someone's house, pray, then eat chestnuts and some one pot meal you can quickly reheat, so the host doesn't have to leave the prayer for hosting (remember, Mary picked better then Martha) One year my brother, 12 year old or so, called that "better Christmas" all adults were a bit flabbergasted because presents and sweets are not a thing at All Saints/All Soul's Day. And he explained: no one is stressed, no one is fighting from exhaustion. No one cried because something went wrong. The food is good and the family is all here. - From that on my Mom toned down Christmas a lot and we enjoy it a lot more 😂
Christmas was never about consumtion and santa claus. Christmas was about celebrating a birth of Jesus, who showed humanity the way to the internal life. This, what we see last 70 years, is not Christmas
@@Atrasky Because it is a holiday anyone can celebrate. Stop trying to police a holiday. To me Christmas has always meant hanging around family and opening presents and eating delicious food. You have to understand most people around the world are not christians and they still celebrate Christmas. Why is that so hard to understand?
Girl that ending hand me teary eyed. 🥺 Rip to your late grandfather. & thank you for sharing some much needed common sense reminders to not compare or senselessly shop till we drop (from all the debt!). Also, TY for the reminder to be content with the ones we have here with us now & Cherrish the holidays with those loved ones. ❤️
@@susannahfriesenofficial TYSM! My G-pa passed right after my wedding & honeymoon in 2021. Our wedding was some of the last pics we all have of him. Merry Christmas to you as well❤️
Having less ornaments/decorations/gifts etc also makes them more magical. My Mom has some Christmas porcelain candleholders and decorations that are quite special, handmade etc and she has been collecting them over last few years. This set of 6 decorations brings her more joy than a box of cheap, random stuff from Amazon would. We gifted her a couple of these pieces and now every time she pulls them out she sends me a picture and it has became our small tradition. Same with Christmas ornaments, we had a tree topper in my family home, and some other pieces that has been there since before I was born. These things bring back childhood memories every time I see them so it makes them worth more than any seasonal restock.
I completely agree! It's the sentimental value of those special pieces that truly makes the season magical. Traditions like yours create lasting memories that no amount of holiday burr baskets can replace!
My sister couldn't name a social media influencer and she has been decorating. Over decorating for at least 20 years. She doesn't as much restock as much as she adds to the collection. Eight Christmas trees including one for the cat and dog. She doesn't eat any processed snacks . She fills cookie jars with homemade goodies.
Christmas seems to have spread to EVERY room in the house too😂 Am I a grinch for considering it overkill, when children have their own personal Christmas trees? Maybe. And what about reusing the same decor every year? That’s what makes it special to me. It only comes out of storage once a year ❤. Oh well. Guess that’s one of my Christmas traditions ❤ we have a tree decorating party every year. Hugs to you ❤ I have a sneaky feeling our ancestors are always involved in our lives, but of course it’s a beautiful heavenly mystery ❤
I don’t understand how people can enjoy living like in a warehouse or a shopping mall. Home should feel like a place that has Your basic necessities and things that make You feel warm, loved and safe. I grew up in a small flat with my mom and two siblings, and my Mom would always bring home random stuff, because, i guess, it made her feel “richer”, but for me it made me feel poorer, and our home never felt like a cozy safe place to come to. I remember crying because of how crammed our flat started to become, and it felt like all the stuff is going to swallow me. I am now trying to practise a minimalistic lifestyle, and ,even though I would really like to own festive dishes or small home decors, I know that I don’t really need them. I can just appreciate them by “window shopping” or on the internet. Just by seeing how much random stuff these people own, gives me anxiety.
Saw the xmas tin of popcorn a few days ago, considered it... than realized basically everythin in it was just stuff i could buy a few aisles over anytime. Nostalgia is a powerful drug.
This is such a refreshing video. I deleted Instagram a year ago because of the amount of overconsumption I saw. I see much less of it on TH-cam but I am very aware it’s still a huge problem. You explained everything so perfectly, thank you! Happy holidays
even coming from a non-christian viewpoint, you have some really amazing points. grief is really really tough, sorry for your loss. great job with this video - love your editing style!! looking forward to more.
My grandma died this year and while we normally wouldn't spend Christmas due to the distance and traveling not being in the budget, we are still going to honor her memory no matter what ❤ Thank you for allowing yourself to be vulnerable on camera and for sharing your wonderful memories with your papa. It has me tearing up ❤❤❤
While I love Christmas decor and the festive fun, Jesus is the true reason for the season. I think it’s always important to remember giving and volunteering is often a much better use of time and money than needless consumerism, and probably much more in line with what Jesus would want! Great video!! ❤️
On the contrary - I “liked” your video when you teared up! We were fortunate to “rent” a video camera in late 80’s so we recorded ALLof Christmas w/grandparents . I 100% agree with you!! - appreciative Gen X-er :) Thank you !!!!!!!
Unfortunately, there will be a rise in health problems due to the overconsumption of these toxic products and garbage foods. The self care aspect of this trend is the most concerning!
I don't usually believe in afterlife, but when I do, I picture Your dad looking from above and sending You his love in some spiritual way. He seemed like an adorable person.
My grandfather was an amazing person, always willing to help out anyone. I was lucky enough to be extremely close with my grandparents, and my great-grandparents as well. The only downside to that is how much it hurts to think about how they are gone now
It's so true if we are not careful we forgot what Christmas is really about. I use to be so stressed about Christmas in fact almost hate it because of the stress of getting every single person in my family ( plus new family since I got married ) presents. And when I met Christ I realized we doing Christmas wrong we not supposed to be so stressed about present in fact we not even need to give eachother presents We can do that on birthdays. So now we do something new in which we do present exchange among the families and it's so much better ( it's much more economical) and plus the most important part we celebrate Christmas together ❤️
I have suggested this in my own family, but it never goes anywhere haha. I would much rather do Christmas exchange as well because it also stresses me out! I also have people in my life who want VERY expensive gifts, and will get upset/disappointed if they don't get them lol
Even on thanksgiving the over indulgence of food! We would have to eat leftovers from thanksgiving as a child for months like 2 months after because way too much was cooked wayyy too much !
After a phrase about cocoa station and flavouried sirups for "appropriate celebration of Christmas" I just grab my book of old Christmas stories. You are right Christmas is not about buying, its about good deeds and self reflection, about family and Christian morality, going to church and help those in need.
Big Condolences to you and your family! This is a huge loss and i hope you find some joy and peace at christmas and some good food and fun. Happy Holidays ... ❤
I'm glad u talked about this is not only about Christmas but also every big festival around the world consimersim has taken everywhere it increases specially during holidays and at time of festival I'm from india where festivals are big part but here too majority people care about what else we could buy instead of what needed to buy .. During diwali , holi (major indian festivals) it has become more about showcasing what u bought by posting status and Stories and in race of becoming picture perfect when in reality they are not even aware where there real happiness relay.
My parents and I don't do this kind of ridiculous shopping for Christmas every year. We decorate the house, celebrate Jesus's birthday and open gifts together.
To be honest - I am getting a little tired of gifts every year - I don’t mind giving to others, especially the needy, but I am a little tired of people always feeling like they HAVE to give to me. That is no longer the excitement anymore - the excitement this year for me is the worship time - I plan to take some time aside to just reflect on all that Jesus and the Father willingly put themselves through just for us - it’s actually brings tears to my eyes when I actually look at it all in context!
Amazing video Susannah! I love everything you said it couldn't have come at a better time. I am newly single mom of two going from a very nice life to some humble circumstances very quickly and while this has been so hard, it has shown me that not everything That flitters is gold. Appreciate the small things because they are the big things.
Thank you so much! I was raised by a single mom and from experience, please do not go overboard. My mom always tried to put on the best Christmas, with all the gifts, and she went into debt every year trying to make up for my father's absence. Just please don't do that!
@@susannahfriesenofficial Thank you for sharing! Your mom sounds like a lovely woman. Trying to give my girl's everything I can has been a big worry for me too, but I have found some ways to make this season special for them. I am going to take them to advent services every Sunday because this is why we celebrate, play holiday music daily, do cookie baking. I actually am pulling every cent I have to buy a house and I am just getting everything together to close the sale. it's a true Christmas miracle.
@@pookieadwI’ve been a single mom most of my life (I wouldn’t have it any other way now ☺️) but I have 2 older children, and one younger one now and I’m way better off now than I was when they were younger - we were broke in comparison to any other time in my life and the small things I did for them that weren’t fancy at all is now the fondest memories they have, so my advice is to just spend the most on time with them and that will mean everything 🩷
@@aliciaholmes6726 Thank you so much for sharing. I really appreciate it. I have been trying to tell my oldest and get her exicted for Jesus' birthday, and going to God's house and we will be building a gingerbread man. I actually scraped every penny I had togther and even bought us a little home. It's tiny and needs some TLC but it is ours
UGHHHH. My mom does the DECORATIONS/FESTIVE STUFF EVERYWHERE thing, there is NO free space ANYWHERE, she has AT LEAST 25-30 bags of Christmas decor, and it drives me NUTS! I HATE IT! And it's not just Christmas, it's EVERY HOLIDAY! I have vowed to NEVER be like that when I get my own place! MAYBE a box, but that's it! I want to SEE the place I live in, thank you! X'D
Well said! The only holiday themed items I purchased was the gingerbread scented dish soap and spray cleanser- the scent makes me happy since I’ll be alone. Oh and the holiday Reese’s!
I got the snowdrop mrs. meyers dishsoap because I got a discount on it through my work, and I loved the scent. Made me want to do dishes more. But I wouldn't have purchased it if I didnt have a discount on it!
These type of videos are so annoying! You telling me these people eat all the Christmas sweets and use all the coffee creamers? 😂 I love decorating for Christmas but this is well over the top! I just bought myself a Christmas mug and I’m happy 😂🎉
haha they definitely don't! plus putting them in the clear containers... id probably mistake it for milk and drink it because theres no way to tell the difference!
I was so pleasantly surprised by the incorporation of Christ! I was like ah yesss! Also, you made SUCH a good point concerning what people really remember about the holidays. I don't even remember how our home was decorated around Christmas aside from what we decorated TOGETHER!
This is the first video I’ve watched of Susannah’s and it was excellent! I’ve disliked shopping my whole life, which I’m thankful for, but it’s almost debilitating going out nowadays and being overwhelmed by all the new objects constantly being produced. Overconsumption is gross. I try my best to make the most of what I have, what others have passed on or make it myself. I went out to the mall to look for something specific and I literally couldn’t stay in there more then 20 mins because of the overwhelm. I get that we are drawn to attractive things, I think it’s a God given attribute, but we need to give that attention to things that last, not such disposable trash! Most important being the eternal souls in the people we love most, and cultivating lasting attributes in ourselves like peace, hospitality and joy!
thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! I’m so glad you liked the video! I’ve also disliked shopping my whole life. Pair overconsumption with social anxiety and you’ve got one unhappy camper lol. Malls and stores are SO busy. Even at the grocery store, I make a list of what I need, I go in, get it and get out within 20 minutes. My husband Nate likes to walk around and look at things but I can notttt.
Your time is the most valuable thing you can give. Handmade gifts are best, stop buying people things they dont cherish and barely remember. Make them something or bake them something, spend time and thats it.
Im not even religious but Christmas means a lot to me, however as i currently live with my mom its genuinely not as fun when its just about the looks and pictures, as my mom always makes it. The highlight of my year is always my brothers coming over then going to one of their houses to spent quality time. Its about family, not corporate junk.
Not Christian myself, but I've grown up in a Christian area, and it's always seemed so... sacrilegious? the way I see a lot of Christian Christmas celebrants treat the holiday? Even being atheist this is a time of year I've always seen as something precious, a time to genuinely appreciate loved ones, the beauty of the changing seasons, to appreciate life. What I largely remember and cherish from my own childhood is stuff like making cookies with my mom, having everyone sit together on Christmas morning and just be at peace, setting up the same decor we'd built memories with for years. My favorite ornament is a snowman that my mom got as a teenager and passed to me, and my favorite decoration is a Christmas angel that I think at one point was a tree topper, also passed down from my mom. It's the memories that make it special in a way newly bought trendy decor can't compare to. Homemade crafts with family and friends, appreciating family heirlooms, respecting nature, helping others and giving to your fellow man, that's what makes it feel like Christmas. Not buying as much crap as possible lol. IDK Fighting someone in a Homegoods over a glitter coated plastic Holiday Hello Kitty just isn't screaming "holiday spirit". :,D
This year, my family actually decided to not buy any gifts! My bro just got married and they got everything they wanted, I haven't wanted or needed anything for a few years now (if anyone wants to get me anything, I just tell them to get me a Nintendo gift card, lol), and my sis is always traveling for work and never home so doesn't want or need anything either. Parents don't want or need anything. So, we just decided we're good! We usually try to make it easy on each other anyway, just a $30 limit between the three siblings, and then sometimes putting money toward smth mom and dad want, but that's it! Makes things SO much easier! Don't spend a ton, and don't get anything you don't want or need! Woo! :D I can't IMAGINE going into DEBT just for Christmas! Absolutely not! Commercialism/consumerism needs to die! X'D
My Christmas decor is very simple. Our house is really too small for a Christmas tree, so instead, I decorate our mantle with candles, pine cones and some lights. That’s it. I make a wreath out of foraged twigs, pine cones and pine branches and maybe some orange slices. I make sure everything can be composted so I don’t have to store it. It looks so much prettier than all the cheap plastic crap the stores sell with overinflated prices that you have to put some place or get bored with and it winds up in the trash or a donation center.
I started a tradition of taking my kids out to eat. By the time Christmas day comes I’m exhausted. Me & my husband work in health care & it’s rare if we get a holiday off.
I buy presents but i stick to a budget. I only buy for people i see all year round and loved ones. Even doing this, i felt a big weight off my shoulders. January felt amazing having money
I just purchased 3 scotch brite xmas sponges. Marked down to 1.00 for 3. I don't care if they have a christmas tree on them.I will use them all year round
I used to get more and more stuff every year. Now, I don't get stuff, but try to wait for sales and thrift for things. I don't see the point in buying new things every year, unless you really need or want them, and only to a point. Things are getting too expensive and you can only get so much. This year I bought a garland and inexpensive floral i will use every year. Other than that, i don't want to spend money. Especially the restock, you won't use it all before Christmas usually.
My nickname around this time of the year is the grince.. As I don't bother with much of it. I do presents for those important to me, which is like 4 people. I put up a tree. Watch my favourite Christmas movies. I eat ham and chicken and drink on Christmas day with close family and friends. It's simple but great.
We don't usually buy anything Christmas themed. This year we did buy Christmas lights for the balcony. They cost under 10€ though. I use the same small amount of decorations every year. Most gifts I make myself (sustainable everyday items by crochet, knitting + art) and in addition buy some yummy treats for gifts(quality tea and chocolate for example) but nothing expensive. Consumables are good gifts.
i celebrate christmas but im the only atheist in my family which makes me fill a bit isolated. :< I tend to celebrate Christmas based on good food and having a loving family. And of course a few presents here and there. :)
The stuff just fills yiur house and becomes clutter. This year we bought no new ornaments, my son and I made little mushrooms out of orange peel to put on the tree, paper stars and baked gingerbread cookies. We are not religious, but I always make a point of watching the sunset and sunrise on this day to remind myself of the permanence of light in darkness ❤
For my guests in bathroom, I'd only buy extra tooth brushes and paste in case they forget their own. Other things, like towels, soaps, gels, napkins etc - I just give from my usual, normal usage & restocks. This is definitely done for their amazon store fronts, I don't believe someone is actually stocking up their guest bathrooms like that, even if you have a guest every month (which you don't, otherwise you're airbnb)
Yeah! Extra toothbrushes, and toothpaste is always a good thing to have extra's of! But other things, like you said, just come from the normal supply. These people just make money off promoting these unnecessary items, and normal people don't have THAT many guests.
I'll admit to enjoying those videos. They're kinda relaxing and it's cute stuff. I live alone, so I'm not tempted to buy. It is sad to think someone would feel like they HAVE to be that way though. Very wasteful.
Beautiful message. This year is also the second year without my Grandpa on Christmas 😔 He never got to meet my son. Family and the time we spend together is what truly matters ❤💚
I get really bad seasonal affective disorder usually and buying Christmas scented cleaning products etc makes me feel better about it getting dark at 3:30pm.
Let’s face it… it’s the Role of ‘Industry Plants’ in Influencer Marketing Many Christmas-themed products seem to appear repeatedly with similar influencers, not simply because influencers are copying each other, but because companies strategically pay influencers to promote their products. Influencers often create themed videos that feature multiple sponsored products, blending them into a single piece of content. This approach can make the sponsorships appear less obvious to viewers, potentially increasing the authenticity of the promotion and boosting sales. While advertising regulations require disclosure of sponsorships, some influencers may still adopt subtle methods to incorporate paid promotions, knowing that less overt sponsorships tend to resonate better with audiences. Companies leverage this behavior by encouraging influencers to bundle promotions into cohesive, thematic content to maximize the impact of their campaigns. They might even be getting the products for free and even if they are purchasing them with their own money they’ll make more than they spent. On top of then you have the micro and wannabe influencers who will go out and buy all of this because they want that title too.
I agree with most of this but I will use seasonal creamers several times from fall to winter. I love pumpkin spice to sugar cookie, really helps with daylight savings.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that! But it’s buying multiple and then pouring them into containers. Just watched one video today where they bought 4 creamers and poured it into one big christmas tree jug. My husbands just like “why…”
I bought two small bags of Birch benders pumpkin spice pancake mix from sprouts for $1.99. I’m going to add pumpkin purée to them. They’re moving out perfectly good products to make way for Christmas/winter esthetic food products. 😂 Pumpkin should be a fall/winter mainstay, it’s so versatile and warming.
it stresses me out so so much when something is limited edition I stopped buying it! the anxiety of not being able to get more after if I really like it just was not worth it.
I have one but I only have one because I got it for my birthday! I wouldn't go out of my way to purchase one myself, let alone have a collection/accessories like some of these influencers do haha.
People have been complaining about overconsumption since the 1600s. Charles Dickens based the Christmas Carol on this as well as other similar complaints. And, guess what? It's only getting worse. People are going to spend their money on whatever they want and that's their perogative. Instead of complaining about other people, I mind my business. I don't compare myself to others and I make sure that I celebrate in ways that are comfortable, affordable, and meaningful to me. Nothing else works. We have to lead by example.
Rather than stocking up on everything when you expect guests stock up on their favorite snacks, drinks etc. it can be a good time that doesn’t break the bank.
im half german and am proud that Germany has given you santa klaus and chris kringle and many of your modern christmas traditions. If you visit Germany its like going to christmas land. everybody decorates but here in america nobody decorates.
Absolutely love your videos x thank you for exposing the over consumerism in our society today! Christmas to me is about being with family and jesus, its a shame so many so called influencers protit on their followers insecurities and desires. You definitely inspire me to remember what is truly valuable and important in life x
Aw this is so sweet! Thank you! I try my best. This is definitely a newfound passion of mine. Christmas is about that for me as well. Influencers just want a paycheque and guaranteed do not use the things they are promoting. Some of these influencers post the same restocks over and over just makes me think they just take things out of the drawer, and put it back in without buying anything new.
Hi Suzanna, I'm a Messianic Israelite so I don't celebrate Christmas. We celebrate Hanukkah, instead. It's given us so much less stress surrounding gifting for our children. We purchase what we can afford, decorate modestly and put way more emphasis on the feast our Savior honored. Christmas has always been about over-consumption and excess. People should really reexamine why they feel driven to celebrate this day. My deep condolences to you for your loss. I lost my father in law a few months ago so I understand the pain. I pray you and your family have more beautiful memories together. Shalom.
I agree, that sounds amazing though! I will pray for you and your family during this tough season. Grief is hard, but its just a testament to the amount of love you had for that person. Shalom!
What is a Christmas tradition your family does during the Holidays? 🎄
We used to do talent shows when I was a kid haha
last year most of us dressed up like characters from the nativity story. and sometimes if we can get people on board, we'll do the nativity play (usually it's just me and my siblings). we celebrate in the evening on the 24th, we all bring something to eat for dinner and then usually on the 25th we eat brunch. if I'm at my mom's/grandma's I have a stocking on the 25th, if not I don't really get candy at my dad's. instead I get an exotic fruit or an avocado 😅😊
we always watch it's a wonderful life (1946)
On Christmas eve, we all get the others a small gift(most of the times a little bit funny and cute) and then we eat snacks that remind us of Christmas, and we always watch a movie!
Take our kids to see 'free' Christmas lights & watch loads of Christmas movies while enjoying some yummy treats❤

@ Have a great one!
And it’s so bad for the environment
@@susannahfriesenofficial agree absolutely!
This year we’re simplifying and making it all about Jesus! And I’m excited to keep it Christ centered with my boys and teach them the real meaning
That's amazing!!
This is music to my ears! Thank you for this
Literally the reason for the season
How are you doing this? I need tips for when I have my own family lol!
Thank you.
The part on your dad made me emotionnal and teary, and made me have a huge wave of gratitude to have all my loved one around me and healthy. ❤
Aw that's so heartwarming! I hope you have a wonderful holiday season with your loved ones.💛

Your videos are cosy and interesting to watch ⚡️ !
1:14 people just need to STOP watching these kids of channels. Just stop. The power of the people is massive to set the tone. You’d be surprised
the problem is they won't!
It’s nice to come home to a clear mind, in a busy season.
yes I can understand that! I like a few decorations, but I don't like to go overboard. I also re-use decor I've had for years and have been gifted.
@@susannahfriesenofficial That makes them more meaningful! :)
To quote the Grinch, "'Maybe Christmas,' he thought, 'doesn't come from the store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.'"
dang I should’ve included that 😭💛
My dad and sister were the type to give each of us maybe 4 or 5 presents, which made me extremely stressed because I felt obliged to do likewise, with limited income. And then the pandemic came and she lost her job, while I kept mine due to my line of work. The whole family had to adjust this "tradition" because, quite bluntly, money was scarce. We've had better Christmases since, focusing more on the food, music and laughs, than in actual presents. Finances since have improved, but we've quit consumerism.
thats amazing!! I am so glad that you guys have kept up with the less presents, even though your finances have improved!
I give food. Cookies and bread. With no expectation in return. I am in the kitchen baking anyways, so I make a few more and share. And thats Christmas.
Good for you!!
This is the first year in a long time that me and the Mrs. are buying each other gifts. We buy gifts for our children, and our nieces and nephews, and it turned out great. No one in the family complained. We were all broke anyway!
Stop the incessant finger tapping

I can't stand it! I hear enough sounds in my own life. 😂
I mute everything because I hate those noises.
I honestly cannot wait until Jesus comes back…like come on now. This is ridiculous.
I'm with you there!
Well let’s follow him earnestly so we will go with him when he does 🙏

It’s tough, partly because shopping has become SO easy. A couple clicks and another impulse purchase is sent to your door.
My heart goes out to you too.
im so sorry for your loss :(
@magical for your Kids.
This, what we see last 70 years, is not Christmas
amen!
Real, but if you say that a lot of people say “not everyone is religious” like okay… Then why you celebrating Christmas ?
@@Atrasky Because it is a holiday anyone can celebrate. Stop trying to police a holiday. To me Christmas has always meant hanging around family and opening presents and eating delicious food. You have to understand most people around the world are not christians and they still celebrate Christmas. Why is that so hard to understand?
I dint like the word Santa claus. I have replaced it with father Christmas. It has more of a Christian meaning for me.
Girl that ending hand me teary eyed. 🥺 Rip to your late grandfather. & thank you for sharing some much needed common sense reminders to not compare or senselessly shop till we drop (from all the debt!).
Hugs to you ❤ I have a sneaky feeling our ancestors are always involved in our lives, but of course it’s a beautiful heavenly mystery ❤
thats our christmas tradition too! But every child does not need their own Christmas tree, thats insane!😂
Feel truely sorry about your loss but I hope you will have a blessed Christmas anyway. Best wishes from Germany

The only downside to that is how much it hurts to think about how they are gone now
Crying at the tribute at the end. How beautiful! Reminds me of the Papas in my own life.
"As you grow older, your Christmas list gets smaller; the things you really want for the holidays can’t be bought."
that is SO true!!
Your dad is watching and taking care of you always. ❤🙏🏼
We would have to eat leftovers from thanksgiving as a child for months like 2 months after because way too much was cooked wayyy too much !
haha same!!!

Thank you so much Johanna, Happy Holidays!
We decorate the house, celebrate Jesus's birthday and open gifts together.
that's amazing!
I agree with all the points. My eyes have been opened for years to the over consumerism delusion.
Thank you. Jesus is the reason.❤❤❤
Amen!!
I truly enjoyed this
Much love. You're very refreshing. God bless your Grandpa.
thank you so much
Not Christian myself, but I've grown up in a Christian area, and it's always seemed so... sacrilegious? the way I see a lot of Christian Christmas celebrants treat the holiday?
Yup. I hate the holidays because of the financial stress.
my sister and I decided not to gift exchange this year!
Girllll you got me teary-eyed too. You have such a beautiful heart and I'm sending you lots of love! I really enjoy your videos

..superb and relevant video
merry christmas! thanks so much!
Exactly! There's a limit to everything.
I'm sorry for your loss.
How beautiful! Thank you for sharing...and your tears are so heartwarming...don't ever be ashamed to cry
Thank you, I appreciate it!

i celebrate christmas but im the only atheist in my family which makes me fill a bit isolated. :< I tend to celebrate Christmas based on good food and having a loving family. And of course a few presents here and there. :)
I can understand that. I used to be atheist myself. I'm the opposite, I am now the only Christian in my family. I hope you have a good Christmas!
Thanks for being that sane gentle voice which points out on these concerns and analyse what's happening! Keep going with your content!❤

Let’s face it… it’s the Role of ‘Industry Plants’ in Influencer Marketing
Many Christmas-themed products seem to appear repeatedly with similar influencers, not simply because influencers are copying each other, but because companies strategically pay influencers to promote their products.
You are SO right. Right on the button!
Thanks for this content. Much needed in the internet
I'm glad you found this helpful!
it stresses me out so so much when something is limited edition I stopped buying it! the anxiety of not being able to get more after if I really like it just was not worth it.
Every time I see someone with a Stanley cup I think "sheep".
I’d love to see a restock of their bank and checking statements too.
I’m actually reading a book right now that describes what you just said! sounds amazing!
7:22 What is the point of a reusable cup if you just fill it with bottled water? 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
This! and my husband said Dasani at that! LOL. We use a brita that we keep in our fridge.
So good!!🤍
thank you!!
Shalom!
