About Royal Blood
Brighton duo Royal Blood comprising drummer Ben Thatcher and bassist/vocalist Mike Kerr formed at the beginning of 2013. They quickly made their presence known, with pounding drums and heavily distorted bass guitar defining characteristics of their ferocious blues-rock sound. The band gained many plaudits early in their career, touring with the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Iggy Pop and Foo Fighters, before going on to win Best British Group at the Brits in 2015 receiving their trophy from their musical hero and admirer Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page.
Their catalogue boasts the Mercury Prize nominated self-titled debut album released in 2014 that spawned hits such as "Out of the Black, "Little Monster:, "Come On Over" and "Figure it Out", as well as their second successive UK number one album "How Did We Get So Dark?" released in 2017 which featured "Lights Out" and "I Only Lie When I Love You".

All the best disco has great strings, look at Le Freak by chic for example, superb strings on that tune. Used to perfection in this track too 🔥 🔥 🔥

It's funny that it took a 2-piece, extremely heavy sounding rock band to make me realize that disco isn't a dirty word.
A special shout out to the audio engineers on mixing the strings. They came through SO CLEAR and beautifully. It's a common trope at this point in rock music to hear the orchestra in rock music get muddled so far back in the mix as to be unidentifiable from a keyboard patch. This is just perfect.
I don't know if Abbey Road has a particular guy, or what, but everything I've heard recorded there has been mixed fantastically.
This album has shown how fucking incredible this band is. Mike's voice has improved drastically on the previous two which were already near enough perfect
You're def right about his voice, but the album itself was quite a let down. Hugely repetitive and somewhat safe as far as experimentation goes :(

@@cinemaspire7258 Im going to have to disagree with you entirely. HDWGSD and Royal Blood were both in the same style, this IS experimentation. If they hadnt experimented at all, we would have another album just like the last two, which I wouldnt be complaining about, but i prefer to see them grow musically and further their abilities as a band.

Better than the studio version. This song has so much potential. Despite the dance chorus, it's really heavy and the contrast with the orchestra make it more epic. Love you guys
Yup, that 80‘s disco chorus really gets me out of the vibe of that song
I'd say what makes good the chorus is the bass line, the voice just follows the style. Bass is what conects both parts.

Royal Blood is a special band for me. I have a personal history with them and they've been there for me when I was in my darkest places. But listening to this version of Limbo today, and knowing the battle that Mike went through to bring us these songs, it made me cry. Tears of both joy and relief. Thank you once more, Royal Blood.
You're not the only one. Everyone else raves about their technical skills but these guys just turn me into a bag of emotions.
