My shoe system is actually a great space saver. I buy those extra large bins with the pull handles on one side & wheels on the other (the ones used for storing large x-mas items). I put multiple pairs of shoes in extra large reusable zip bags. Bags & bins have corresponding numbers. The bins then go on the very bottom of my shelving units. It takes more time when shipping but saving space is a huge issue for me as my workspace is very tiny & it still allows for vertical storage.

My system is similar but the main difference is I use small binder clips instead of tape to attach my description and location numbers to the package. I use my binder clips over and over. They can be attached to boxes or bags and avoids the messy tape experience.

I don't know if anyone's commented this yet already, I haven't had the chance to scan through all the comments but a good way to minimize tape use is that blue tack stuff. I forget what it's definitely called, but it's like that blue stuff that's reusable, it just takes a little dot to stick paper onto walls and things like that
I was using a spreadsheet from another company and feeling it was lackluster... so happy to see this. I like the bells and whistles it offers with little work on our side. I just purchased it a little while ago and waiting for my kiddos to go down to bed so I can watch the Tutorial and start transferring things over. When you were talking about misplacing an item it reminded me of when I worked on a car lot. During season if we lost a key we would have to dig through bins of keys to find it so frustrating

Thank you! Yesss, well I am lucky because I have a packaging table that make storing boxes, kraft paper, polybags, etc really easy! I have a similar one linked in my Amazon wish list, but they're pretty expensive. My mom bought the one I have ages ago and gave it to me when she moved. But before that, I purchased a shelving unit and organized all the packaging materials and set it next to a table so I could easy pull from the shelf while I packaged, but still had a clear table to work with. I hope that helps!!

Great video! Do you think a barcode method would be beneficial to include in the spreadsheet and in the inventory label system to quickly scan a item when it sells locating it on the spreadsheet? I’m thinking once an item sells and is updated on the spreadsheet that barcode could be removed on the spreadsheet and reused on the next item brought into inventory. Interested in hearing your feedback on this. I am a fairly new reseller and value your expertise. Thanks!
Hey Mogi! So frustrating with the lack of data coming from Poshmark. I love diving into the data! I was using a spreadsheet for the longest time, and ended up creating a web app (Thrifters Scorecard) to help give me that data. I think your spreadsheet is still going to be a very helpful guide. Also, storing shoes is my biggest battle! Can't wait until I have more storage space, and I'm definitely going to use this pre-box method. Thanks for sharing! :))

Hi! This is so fantastic - thank you so much for sharing all this info. I went ahead and purchased the spreadsheet. I just wanted to point out that in CANADA, the Poshmark fees and structure are a little different. The fee is $3.95 for anything under $20 and 20% +GST/HST/QST on anything over $20. Just an FYI for anyone using this in Canada, you need to make some adjustments :)

You're my inspiration for wanting to start my own reselling business! I have been slacking off lately though. Unfortunately I currently live with my boyfriend and his parents (space is extremely limited) so my reselling inventory is an hour away (it's at my storage building at my parent's) My boyfriend and I are trying to save up for a house, when I get wifi I'll be able to fully commit to selling online as well as working full time until I am comfortable enough to go full-time/overtime with my home reselling business. I hope that one day I'll be able to tell you I have a six figure business as well 💖
Thanks so much for this spreadsheet. I'm so excited. I've almost have all my numbers updated for 2020 and inventory added in. I'm now getting ready to see how I might want to customize it. One tip I wanted to pass along for potential future version - although maybe there is a reason it wasn't included in this one since it was clearly thoughtfully made - if there is a cell in a formula that you don't want to change when you copy/paste it - then add dollars signs so A3 would be $A$3. This is relevant to the stats page when adding new platforms. Anyhow, thanks again.
Lol no reason! I just never had to do that since this is like our 4th iteration of our spreadsheet so that part was already "made" for us and we don't add platforms anymore. But yes the $ is extremely helpful! Glad you are finding the spreadsheet to be useful! -Matt
Hi Mogi, thank you so much for all the tips and tricks! I love your inventory system -- it seems simple and efficient. I'd like to start something similar. I do have a couple questions though. How do you handle items that you have multiple quantity of? Do you give them each their own individual SKU even though they're the exact same item? Or do you give them all the same SKU, and just label multiple bags with that SKU? Also how do you rotate through the numbers? Do you put SKUs right back into rotation as soon as something sells, or do you wait until you get through Z99 and then start over with available ones? Thanks again!! ❤❤❤

Hey there! I just recently revisited your TH-cam video on tracking your inventory. I had watched it last year but my number 1 goal is to be more organized with my reselling business this year. I couldn't find the spreadsheet for purchase on your website. Will you be releasing a new version this year? ...and if you plan on making a new TH-cam video on this content (or getting tax ready) can you please include how you take into account your rollover inventory from the prior year. I just got finished making an inventory count from leftover 2021 merchandise, I just don't know what to do with that number and how to factor it into my costs. Question for you: When you copy an inventory item that has sold from the inventory tab to a month tab, do you do anything to that inventory item still listed in the inventory tab? It seems like that list could get really long, making it hard to quickly find items if sold items are not marked there somehow. Would you recommend removing it from that tab, since it is now listed in the monthly sold tab? Or marking it sold by shading out the cells?
For flats and more flat shoes that can go into a mailer you could put them in those usps tyvex polymailers and stand them up in a box to save space. Then you could either reuse the mailers for the next pair of shoes, or just mail them in the mailer.

I can’t believe I missed this one. You answered a bunch of questions I have been pondering. Although I have sold on eBay previously, I want to be thoughtful about what I buy and sell. I started buying items found by Brickseek, toys, comforters, sheets and others. I decided that they didn’t fit my vision so I dropped that. Plus Brickseek is a bit of a scam. I an a little anxious about Poshmark because of the 20% and shipping. Now that I have my second COVID dose I can can start thrifting. I need a spread sheet. I dint want to make one. hi - I have questions about the spreadsheet. I've purchased and am using it, but eBay is still complicated. Because sometimes there's a listing fee, and sometimes there's not... and shipping is often less than what the buyer paid for shipping by a dollar or two. I've been copy/pasting the Net earnings from my eBay sales report, but then it doesn't subtract my COG. How do you all handle that?

Right now I have 2 industrial rolling racks but like what you said about going vertical. Would make it so much easier
I love the idea of packaging the shoes up so they are ready to ship when processing them BUT My biggest drawback is what about when people bundle items?! Would you just put the shoebox inside of bigger box with everything else or unpack the prepackaged shoes? Also speaking of shoes, You said in one of your videos that when you lived in Wichita you really relied on shoes to carry your business. So I have been trying to buy more shoes since then and it has been super beneficial! But shortly after hearing you say that I spent a weekend in Wichita and was able to hit several different Goodwills and was able to find SO many shoes!!! So thanks :)
How do you record earnings/margins in a bundle? I offer discounts on bundled items and I hate when my numbers get thrown off by dividing the earning evenly across all of the items.
Hi Faith! Matt here, so if you could provide me more info if I am wrong that would be helpful. But I assume what you are referring to by throwing off your numbers when you equally attribute earnings in a bundle, is that your margins look funky because not all items in your mind are equal. This is especially true when the COGS are different as well. For example, if I sold a bundle of two items for $100, $50 a piece might appear off to my mental accounting, especially if one item is way more valuable and expensive than the other. In my opinion, I wouldn't worry about it too much because when I am going over my numbers in the aggregate, it doesn't quite matter what value I attribute to each individual item. For example, what if instead of a bundle, you sold one item for $100? Whether it is one or two or ten items, as long as you calculate (Price sold - fees - COGS)/(Price sold) you will get your Gross Profit Margin. Another way to think about this is when I go over my Monthly sales report and calculate my Average Profit Margin. It doesn't matter what each individual sale was, because in the end I am totaling them all up in order to get my AVERAGE Gross Profit Margin (Total Monthly Sales - Total Poshmark Fees - Total COGS)/Total Monthly Sales Hope this helps and please let me know if I missed the mark lol!

Hi there, this seems like a pretty awesome spreadsheet, however, I felt like I didn’t get enough details as to what it offers. Is there anyway you can do a video showing more? (Obviously not given away everything, but just a little more of a walk through). Also, you mentioned you buy larger boxes for boots. Just wanted to share a little tip. I use the free USPS board game box to ship long/tall boots. I shipped out a pair of riding boots recently and my customer left me a comment in her love note that she appreciated the packaging and care put into sending her boots.

Hey there! Matt here, the spreadsheet will be very helpful and will contain a lot of the info your CPA needs. However, it is not all encompassing. For example, you are going to need other business expenses to calculate your EBITDA. With this only covering your COGS to calculate your GROSS Profit Margin, there a few other things you may need.

Love your spreadsheet! One question, say I'm at the thrift store and I see an item and I im aiming for a 60% profit margin how to i calculate what i need to sell the item for in order to get to my goal profit margin?
Hey! Matt here, a simple calculation you can do in the store is take the COGS and multiply it by 5! That will get you your 60% profit margin. For example if I spend $10 on a pair of jeans, I would need a sales price of $50 for (50 - 20% poshmark fee - $10 COGS) / 50 = (50 - 10 - 10) / 50 = (30) / 50 = 60% Hope that helps!

When you were talking about misplacing an item it reminded me of when I worked on a car lot. During season if we lost a key we would have to dig through bins of keys to find it so frustrating

Thank you! Yesss, well I am lucky because I have a packaging table that make storing boxes, kraft paper, polybags, etc really easy! I have a similar one linked in my Amazon wish list, but they're pretty expensive. My mom bought the one I have ages ago and gave it to me when she moved. But before that, I purchased a shelving unit and organized all the packaging materials and set it next to a table so I could easy pull from the shelf while I packaged, but still had a clear table to work with. I hope that helps!!

Great video! Do you think a barcode method would be beneficial to include in the spreadsheet and in the inventory label system to quickly scan a item when it sells locating it on the spreadsheet? I’m thinking once an item sells and is updated on the spreadsheet that barcode could be removed on the spreadsheet and reused on the next item brought into inventory. Interested in hearing your feedback on this. I am a fairly new reseller and value your expertise. Thanks!

Hey Mogi! So frustrating with the lack of data coming from Poshmark. I love diving into the data! I was using a spreadsheet for the longest time, and ended up creating a web app (Thrifters Scorecard) to help give me that data. I think your spreadsheet is still going to be a very helpful guide. Also, storing shoes is my biggest battle! Can't wait until I have more storage space, and I'm definitely going to use this pre-box method. Thanks for sharing! :))

Hi! This is so fantastic - thank you so much for sharing all this info. I went ahead and purchased the spreadsheet. I just wanted to point out that in CANADA, the Poshmark fees and structure are a little different. The fee is $3.95 for anything under $20 and 20% +GST/HST/QST on anything over $20. Just an FYI for anyone using this in Canada, you need to make some adjustments :)

You're my inspiration for wanting to start my own reselling business! I have been slacking off lately though. Unfortunately I currently live with my boyfriend and his parents (space is extremely limited) so my reselling inventory is an hour away (it's at my storage building at my parent's)
My boyfriend and I are trying to save up for a house, when I get wifi I'll be able to fully commit to selling online as well as working full time until I am comfortable enough to go full-time/overtime with my home reselling business. I hope that one day I'll be able to tell you I have a six figure business as well 💖
Thanks so much for this spreadsheet. I'm so excited. I've almost have all my numbers updated for 2020 and inventory added in. I'm now getting ready to see how I might want to customize it. One tip I wanted to pass along for potential future version - although maybe there is a reason it wasn't included in this one since it was clearly thoughtfully made - if there is a cell in a formula that you don't want to change when you copy/paste it - then add dollars signs so A3 would be $A$3. This is relevant to the stats page when adding new platforms. Anyhow, thanks again.
Lol no reason! I just never had to do that since this is like our 4th iteration of our spreadsheet so that part was already "made" for us and we don't add platforms anymore.
But yes the $ is extremely helpful!

Hi Mogi, thank you so much for all the tips and tricks! I love your inventory system -- it seems simple and efficient. I'd like to start something similar. I do have a couple questions though.
How do you handle items that you have multiple quantity of? Do you give them each their own individual SKU even though they're the exact same item? Or do you give them all the same SKU, and just label multiple bags with that SKU?
Also how do you rotate through the numbers? Do you put SKUs right back into rotation as soon as something sells, or do you wait until you get through Z99 and then start over with available ones?

Hey there! I just recently revisited your TH-cam video on tracking your inventory. I had watched it last year but my number 1 goal is to be more organized with my reselling business this year. I couldn't find the spreadsheet for purchase on your website. Will you be releasing a new version this year? ...and if you plan on making a new TH-cam video on this content (or getting tax ready) can you please include how you take into account your rollover inventory from the prior year. I just got finished making an inventory count from leftover 2021 merchandise, I just don't know what to do with that number and how to factor it into my costs. Question for you: When you copy an inventory item that has sold from the inventory tab to a month tab, do you do anything to that inventory item still listed in the inventory tab? It seems like that list could get really long, making it hard to quickly find items if sold items are not marked there somehow. Would you recommend removing it from that tab, since it is now listed in the monthly sold tab? Or marking it sold by shading out the cells?
For flats and more flat shoes that can go into a mailer you could put them in those usps tyvex polymailers and stand them up in a box to save space. Then you could either reuse the mailers for the next pair of shoes, or just mail them in the mailer.

I can’t believe I missed this one. You answered a bunch of questions I have been pondering. Although I have sold on eBay previously, I want to be thoughtful about what I buy and sell. I started buying items found by Brickseek, toys, comforters, sheets and others. I decided that they didn’t fit my vision so I dropped that. Plus Brickseek is a bit of a scam. I an a little anxious about Poshmark because of the 20% and shipping. Now that I have my second COVID dose I can can start thrifting. I need a spread sheet. I dint want to make one. hi - I have questions about the spreadsheet. I've purchased and am using it, but eBay is still complicated. Because sometimes there's a listing fee, and sometimes there's not... and shipping is often less than what the buyer paid for shipping by a dollar or two. I've been copy/pasting the Net earnings from my eBay sales report, but then it doesn't subtract my COG. How do you all handle that?

I love the idea of packaging the shoes up so they are ready to ship when processing them BUT My biggest drawback is what about when people bundle items?! Would you just put the shoebox inside of bigger box with everything else or unpack the prepackaged shoes?
Also speaking of shoes, You said in one of your videos that when you lived in Wichita you really relied on shoes to carry your business. So I have been trying to buy more shoes since then and it has been super beneficial! But shortly after hearing you say that I spent a weekend in Wichita and was able to hit several different Goodwills and was able to find SO many shoes!!! So thanks :)
How do you record earnings/margins in a bundle? I offer discounts on bundled items and I hate when my numbers get thrown off by dividing the earning evenly across all of the items.
Hi Faith! Matt here, so if you could provide me more info if I am wrong that would be helpful. But I assume what you are referring to by throwing off your numbers when you equally attribute earnings in a bundle, is that your margins look funky because not all items in your mind are equal. This is especially true when the COGS are different as well. For example, if I sold a bundle of two items for $100, $50 a piece might appear off to my mental accounting, especially if one item is way more valuable and expensive than the other.
In my opinion, I wouldn't worry about it too much because when I am going over my numbers in the aggregate, it doesn't quite matter what value I attribute to each individual item. For example, what if instead of a bundle, you sold one item for $100? Whether it is one or two or ten items, as long as you calculate (Price sold - fees - COGS)/(Price sold) you will get your Gross Profit Margin. Another way to think about this is when I go over my Monthly sales report and calculate my Average Profit Margin. It doesn't matter what each individual sale was, because in the end I am totaling them all up in order to get my AVERAGE Gross Profit Margin
(Total Monthly Sales - Total Poshmark Fees - Total COGS)/Total Monthly Sales

I use the free USPS board game box to ship long/tall boots. I shipped out a pair of riding boots recently and my customer left me a comment in her love note that she appreciated the packaging and care put into sending her boots.

Tax question that I understand if you aren't able to answer, but does this spreadsheet (pretty much) cover all the info that a CPA would need, or is it more of a sales tracker for personal use and not tax purposes?
Hey there! Matt here, the spreadsheet will be very helpful and will contain a lot of the info your CPA needs. However, it is not all encompassing. For example, you are going to need other business expenses to calculate your EBITDA. With this only covering your COGS to calculate your GROSS Profit Margin, there a few other things you may need.

Love your spreadsheet! One question, say I'm at the thrift store and I see an item and I im aiming for a 60% profit margin how to i calculate what i need to sell the item for in order to get to my goal profit margin?
Hey! Matt here, a simple calculation you can do in the store is take the COGS and multiply it by 5! That will get you your 60% profit margin.
For example if I spend $10 on a pair of jeans, I would need a sales price of $50 for
(50 - 20% poshmark fee - $10 COGS) / 50
= (50 - 10 - 10) / 50
= (30) / 50
= 60%
