That's a 13% grade on the approach to the hairpin, and in the actual bend it is worse (on the inside). My guess is the crane is being taken absolutely to it's limits of what the manufacturer claims it can do, then probably a bit further too. There is no alternative road into this part of northern Scotland, it's "The braes" or you need to bolt on wings

The Beam must transportation on another Trucks The company home in Düsseldorf Benrath and build in the 50st the first full Hydraulik crane of the World. Under the Label Demag produce all Machines with Chain and under the Name Gottwald with Tires. @@christianplatzbecker1784 That's not correct the crane is an GOTTWALD AK680-1 (later was named to AK680-3 at Sarens when the crane get the DEMAG cabines). DEMAG bought 1988/1989 the truck crane and crawler crane production. KRUPP bought the telescopic crane production.
Forgotten how many times I have been up and down that palce in the last 11years! And the number of times that I have been held up by trucks that have drivers in them that cannot drive...lol. Why cannot they do a proper recce of a route before they arrive!!
@@leemingmerlin I once worked for a trucking firm that got a contract for moving all the big prefabricated steelwork to where they were building the rigs, My clever arsed boss thought it a good idea to get his old knackered low-loader and cut the bowed belly beams off it and have some seventy foot girders welded in but still using the old neck and bogie off the old trailer, now imagine sticking four A frames (FOUR ) along these new girders for carrying rig leg sections and floor plates at an angle and 15.9 foot wide and 19.6 wide, bearing in mind that this trailer had no rear steering and these loads were going from Scunthorpe to Barrow-in-Furness, the damage we caused was all paid for by the sender ( it ran into thousands of pounds each trip ) and the police allowed us to travel, what a game we had getting that bloody thing around corners.
Looks like compressors are wared out and thats one hell of a heavy machine. It wouldnt be nice to get out of air at this elevation. ps: getting back after job done will be even more nasty then this.
It is really very tiring for the driver to drive this huge mobile crane up the slope. A pity I don't have any driving licence for all kinds of vehicles because I can't drive at all in my condition. If I am the driver cum operator of this huge crane, I will switch off the aircon and put down the power windows before I start to drive the crane up the slope because the aircon exhausts most of the power in the engine of the crane and will make the engine go slower. Unless this is a brand new mobile crane which just comes out from the production factory, it is very hard to drive the crane up the slope with the aircon in operation.
Yes I can not wait for the engine to drop its innards on the floor, it must have a bad discharge valve sticking open stopping the crane building it's air up enough to release the brakes, these cranes never get a proper full service and grease-up, I bet the brake linings are as thin as paper.

Because the police have to plan your route for you when you are driving big stuff like this, and you HAVE to stick to the route or else.

No, that's for moving the crane... The compressed air gets compressed automatically.
