I love the smart text box, I argue it's one of the most powerful updates of the past months. I remember when I first saw it, I was actually trying to revert to the old one, not knowing what to do with it, I just had no clue it was smarter than me.
This is exactly what I've been looking for!! I have one issue, the 'how would you calculate this' isn't finding my measure as a suggestion 🤦♀Any Idea why?

Patrick, thanks for the video! It's great as always. I have a question about using text measures in text boxes. For example this up arrow. It simply doesn't work in my case for some reason. ANY text measure is ignored. Any ideas who might be the issue? Google didn't help so far.. Thanks!

One active and another passive is possible. Else go with composite or surrogate key

Hello! Thanks for this. But I would like to know if there's a way to format numbers like in your sample? I would like to use #,##0.0,,M format, cause the amount is too long to look at.
Great video Patrick. We use smart narrative for quick text context usually things like "x had decreased/increased for the last x days" where the line chart on the page is there to show trends and that level of detail isn't immediately obvious. I was thinking, could you not have both arrows in a single switch statement with a defined hex colour for each though?
My favorite "conditional formatting" is for +/- % change. Just change the format in the model view to a custom format like so:
+0.0%;-0.0%;0.0%
This shows a + in front of positive changes. 🤘
Can you add color too? I want to show the change with red/green FONT
Hi Patrick in place of up arrow . Can we use unichar ??
I followed these steps. However, when the Up Arrow is active, I can still see the placeholder for the Down Arrow and vice versa. How to show only one arrow?

I've found for easy Smart Narrative creation you either need to use DAX or create single row tables that update in Power Query and whereafter you can easily pull the values out without the nightmarish question wrangling.

Does anyone know if you can get a powerbi account as an individual user? I'm trying to understand if you can but every time I try it asks me to use a "work email"
Sign upto Azure and create a email address from there and then use that to sign up for PBI.

Brillant
No gonna lie, smart narratives has amazing potential but the experience building them is far from optimal. For example you cannot format variable by left-clicking on it, you need to drag your cursor and mark it as you would do copy and paste. Great video though!
I’m no expert but I don’t understand why you can’t change the text in smart narrative. You said you can only append to it. So confused. Surely you can write whatever you want in there
