Everything is so almost there. I *love* the ape muzzle is a separate part that gives the jet mode that classic fuselage shark grin, AND gives Spasma a double robot face! That's creativity I don't even ask of third parties because I wouldn't have thought it up. If anything, I'd probably wait for him to be on sale. But TBH, his flubs are making me appreciate KFC's Kingorilla more than his strengths make me want him.
My favorite thing about this unsightly lump is that his gangly arms and torso give him the proportions of the Sekiro Guardian Ape. It goes nicely with his removable head and ability to hold a sword.
Yeah I think as somebody who doesn't have that preexisting nostalgia for Apeface, this figure doesn't look like it does quite enough to win me over. There's still enough good going on that I could see myself picking it up on a solid discount though, and he gets some extra play value if you have the Titans Return one lying around, so that helps.
As someone who also didn't have preexisting nostalgia for Apeface, I bought him as soon as I could because wow that deco, good grief those alt modes, and hot dang what a mess. It's the kind of lovable scrappy runt of the litter that makes me want to take it to the park to scare off the other people's pets.
@@OtakuUnitedStudio That's fair, sometimes these sloppier figures have a real genuine charm to them despite their flaws. A comparison I would make is to Titans Return Alpha Trion, one of my personal favorite "kind of a mess but still lovable" figures, with it's equal parts badass and doofy horned lion mode, and the half-baked spaceship mode that somehow won me over anyway, so I definitely see the appeal of Apeface.
@@ArtificerOfSolus Trion was one of the first figures I knew I HAD to have from Titans Return for exactly that reason. The only thing I don't think I like about it is the two spikes that pop up on the sides of his head, so I just ignore them. That's true of TR Voyagers in general, though.

I like twisting the head around and pretending he has 2/3 personalities like animated Blitzwing. The unhinged A-hole regular face, the stone-cold killer brunt face, and the wild and rage-filled monkey.

He's definitely a mediocre figure overall (that jet mode is trash) and yet, I love him so much for what he is, a big, goofy deception packed with any gimmick you can throw at him. Spectacular review, Thew, sir. As the last Voyager of Siege it's an... eh sendoff. I'd have to agree it is kinda flakey. But it does it's purpose I suppose. Looking forward to these kinds fellas getting toys in the future!
Can't believe I've missed two vids already in this time. 2020 is shaping up to be a good one for Thew's toy reviews. Siege is a pretty cool updated line, however after having so many different variations of practically the same character over the years the only one I've gotten is the Voyager Prime. Definitely tempted to buy the Jetfire considering how big it is for once. (outside the movie version)

I gave in and just ordered this Apeface and the Titan Master Repugnus cos I like plastic robot boys that look silly. Always liked how a few of them G1 monster guys seem a bit awkward with their forms. Especially the triple changing ones. And hey, you were right about Snapdragon being next!
Apeface is is the only Siege toy that feels like it was meant for Titans Return but was canceled for some reason. So when Siege kicked off, they were like, "give it ports and damage the paint."
The only truly weak mode is the "jet" who is just a slab of butter with bits. But the bot and ape modes nail it. BTW, that creamy "plastic" is in fact, NYLON. Soft and unbreakable. I was a denier at first mut after having some of my old figures _shatter_ in hand, this nylon experiment is a welcome one.
I unfortunately had to stop collecting due to the price of keeping up and being annoyed with some things with titans return and power of the primes but it looks like the figures have rebounded and seem really worth the price

I'm 100% with you on that white plastic! It looks like it just got pulled off a 3D printer. But I'm also 100% with you in that I can't hate this guy. Well in Japan the robot mode rarely showed up as they choose to use the ape mode as the character which was used for comedy

Just got the figure today several hours ago, he's alright, not incredible nor the best of the Siege line but he's not the worst. He's just alright.
