2022 Tundra with 35’s on the OEM wheels

  • เผยแพร่เมื่อ 5 ม.ค. 2022
  • We did a AT2 in a 35x12.5x20 on the passenger side and a Nitto Trail Grappler on the the drivers side in a 35x12.5x20. This was done on the Factory OEM TRD wheels. We did run a 3mm wheel spacer on the front to clear from rubbing the edge of the tire at full steering lock lightly on the front edge of the upper control arm. This has our Westcott Designs 3/1 preload collar lift that does not take away for the ride quality or any travel of the suspension. This is not your traditional space or lift. It will be on the web site mid next week and will start shipping in the next 2.5 weeks. Please follow and Subscribe we will doing some height measurements for ground clearance and for those guys that wish to park in the garage after she is sitting pretty. Thank you for watching!

    Awesome vid and truck looks sick with that 3" collar kit and 35" tires. I have a 2019 crewmax and used Westcotts 3" collar kit for 5100 adjustable bilsteins and put some 285/75R18's(34.8") Toyo Open Country AT3's on some TRD Pro wheels and have zero rub at full lock and truck sits pretty. Love the craftsmanship and quality of the collar lift. Also Jeff is the most helpful business owner ever! Installed the collar lift on a sunday w/ my buddy and had some questions and literally gave him a call and he answered while on his way to Church! This man cares about his customers and wants to make sure you install everything correctly. Absolutely amazing dude and he even gave me and my buddy a tour of his entire facility when we picked up our parts. Will definitely continue buying parts from Westcott Designs.

    • @Daniel-xp8km
      @Daniel-xp8km 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rileythorning4115 i love the look of the 35's on 18's but thats me and my truck sits exactly how i wanted it too. but i also went with a skinner tire in the 285's and not the 295's because i didnt want the tire to stick out to far and didnt want to have to worry about doing a BMC or anything like that. But the 35's give enough tire for the size of the rim. whats your concern? too much tire, not enough wheel? Again to me the look is perfect especially on the 2019 with how the truck already looks big and bulky. 37's with the 18" wheel would have been overkill for the look i was going for. The tundras need a bigger tire. those factory 33's make it look like its skipping leg day! LOL

    • @westcottdesigns
      @westcottdesigns  2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      All the OEM wheels on the different models are are going to have the same offset so you will want run a 35x11.5x-8 so you don’t have any rubbing on the upper control arm at full steering lock. Then you won’t have to run and type of wheel spacer. If you want more room for articulation during off-roading but wanting to fill the wheel well and still keep a good look you can run a 295/70R18. Which is a 34.3” tire. Hope this helps.

      If you grab a hold of the carpet in the lower corner just behind the front tire and lift up on it and there is a hole behind it. If you press the carpet up against the hole and take a screw driver or pen and poke the hole through it. You can then use a push clip in through the carpet in the hole. This will make for more tire room.

    Needs fatter tires and smaller wheels. Would look beefier and not so much like guy who goes to the gym and skips leg day. Wheel offset is perfect though. Can’t stand wheels that stick out any farther than the fenders.

    Ok - anyone here get told at the tire shop that they couldn’t install the exact same NITTO tires in the video because they were too wide? Apparently during their installation attempt they said the upper control arm wouldn’t even let the tire seat. Asking for a friend… fuming right now

    • @westcottdesigns
      @westcottdesigns  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We don’t have any problem with them seating. We probably do at least 50 of them a month. On a 35x12.5 on the OEM wheel you have to run a 3mm shim or run a 11.5 wide tire and no shim. This will give the clearance needed on the control arm so it does not rub at full steering lock.

    • @ryanaskham4486
      @ryanaskham4486 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@westcottdesigns everything you’re saying makes complete sense, I see the clearance is there. Let me confirm, you could still seat the tire without the shim but at full turn your experience a slight rub, but could seat the tire. Correct? I’m just baffled at Town Fair technician’s comment the tire wouldn’t even seat

    I am debating on swapping my '23 stock platinum setup for terra grapplers. Maybe 11.5 with 18" wheels. From what I've read in the comments it should be an easy fit up without a lift/altering with no rub. The question I can never find an answer to, how dramatic is the road noise because the platinum is deathly silent and my previous truck howled with the ridge grapplers. Thank you in advance for your time!

    I'd like to know offset details for wheels if you can show something like a 20 offset, then a 0 then a -20 to get a view of it all. Also, do any wheels are having issues clearing the brake calipers (seen this on Chevies).

    As far as I know, the 18 inch trd Offroad wheels are +60mm offset. I’d like to keep these wheels if possible while upgrading tire to 35x12.50r18 BFG K02. Does this seem possible with the stock wheel, or are spacers/aftermarket wheels needed?

    Why did you put 12.50s on the stock OEM wheels when they are only 7.5 inches wide? Was there any fit issues with this? I have been leaning towards 11.50s because of my 2023 tundra OEM wheels are only 7.5 inches wide. I figured the 12.50s would be way to wide for that wheel. I'm new to this, so I might be asking very basic questions.

    Hi I have put a deposit and ordered a 2022 TRD PRO Tundra. My question is can I fit 35” tires on the factor 18” wheels with 40mm wheel spacers or do I need to level the front end? Thanks for your time you guys do amazing work. If I didn’t live in Canada I would definitely be coming out to see you. I have had 4 tundras! I love them.

    • @westcottdesigns
      @westcottdesigns  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I will tell you the Tundra has a lot more room in the fender. If you raise the front on the new Tundra TRD PRO 1” so it’s level front to back it will fit 35’s on the factory wheels with a 1/4” wheel spacer. If you want to really get after it with the 35’s I would suggest 2” and 1” in the rear. Thank you for following along with us. We are building a new 2022 1794 in the shop that we will share later this week.
