Travel coordinator here! Also a former leisure manager. I’m over seven minutes into this video and have nodded my head in confirmation so many times, I’m getting headache. Great video and amazing suggestions!!
As an older person who wants to round out a life with travel I really appreciate that your vlogs are "cost aware," and value conscious. I would like to see and go to as many lovely destinations as I can without a reverse mortgage.
My wife and I stayed at St. James Club in Antigua December 2017. It's an all inclusive and our week long vacation was fantastic. The staff go out of their way to speak with you. The staff were fantastic and genuinely nice people. The crew working the beach were a blast and helped make our vacation so nice.
I found your channel about a year ago when I was planning a trip. Loved your channel because you were honest about food quality (food is a big part of the vacation for me). After this video, I am an even bigger fan because of your honesty and positivity. ❤️
What a breath of fresh air, someone who is unafraid to Say what Needs to be Said!!! so tired of all the blaise review which are meaningless. Thank you for the REAL review!!! 🔥🔥🔥
... oh, and I definitely prefer the resorts closer to the airport (i.e. Sandals Grenada) vs a long road trip (e.g. Sandals South Coast, Jamaica). They say "getting there is half the fun", but flying to these locations is long enough without hours spent on a shuttle bus (e.g. Sandals St Lucia). Getting to Cabo San Lucas from the airport is much faster now that they have the autopista.
I mean I've stayed at the Atlantis Bahamas 3 years in a row now. Honestly its such a vibe. im alway recommending it. it sucks that food and rinks aren't more accommodating but there is SO much to do on the resort.
Seven Stars includes a wonderful breakfast buffet. A large number of the rooms and suites have full kitchens, so it seems any argument The Venetian is an improvement is wrong IMO.
I worked as a comedian in the comedy club (Joker's Wild) there. I would never pay money to stay there. The last time I worked there we had a thunderstorm and it didn't take long for the buckets to come out to catch the water coming into the lobby from the ceiling. I had to put towels around my sliding glass doors to keep water out.
If you can afford Jade Mountain it is 💯 worth it. Everything about this place is amazing - the rooms, the private plunge pools, the view, the food, and the staff are all 💯 Also, there is direct beach access. Taking a shuttle is an option if you aren’t able to do stairs, but you can also walk down to Anse Chastanet Beach in about 5-10 minutes. The beach has private huts with drink and food service for guests of the resort. There is also a restaurant on the beach.
Love this video! I've owned a travel agency for a little over a year now. With Covid19 stopping travel your videos are very helpful. Would love to see the same video and great locations for all inclusive family resorts. Looking for amazing beaches!
Seven Stars in Turks & Caicos is freeking amazing. If you can not afford it though do not go. We only ate breakfast at the resort because it was included with our room. But we did not hit a bad restaurant our whole time there. There is a brick oven pizza place that delivers to the hotel. We ordered two pies for $25.
Sugar Beach in St. Lucia was amazing. Def recommend for a more intimate vacation. Felt like a celebrity there on our honeymoon. We snorkeled around Jade Mountain and their beach looked dumpy and crowded compared to ours.
Can you do a video on the Maldives and Seychelles islands? Your videos are very informative and I’m looking for detailed info about these places. Thanks.
Agree with comment re Sandals - only did one at Jamaica then called White House - bellow my expectations - food wasn’t available until dinner time, and no better than common cruise fare; included water sports but waiting list to use
Thank you so much for another great video! Please don’t apologize for your opinions! Keep them coming ! Covid has hit hard for me as I work in the healthcare field. I absolutely cannot get away like I used to. Some resorts are definitely not worth the price tag.
Great video, Vanessa! I agree about Excellence Punta Cana. It’s a beautiful resort and everyone was wonderful. I would love a video about places for an older, single to go that just wants a beautiful place to relax, not party. Would prefer properties that are all inclusive. Thank you so much!!
OMG ME TOO,,, I am looking to go to an Island in Jan for my b day. I am looking for a place for adults . I dont know which island in the Caribbean I want to go to as of yet. I would prefer something all inclusive as I am saving my pennies now to go.
We lived excellence PC! We want to go somewhere different but it seems everywhere else just lacks. Entertainment was great there. Food was okay… but it seems like food at most resorts is just kinda bland.
I was disappointed with Atlantis. Personally thought it could have been cleaner and staff wasn't the friendliess. Just my experience but I know others that loved it.
I agree. Atlantis was very overrated. We had multiple issues with our room, the staff wasn't friendly, and everything on resort was overpriced. They need a complete update and overhaul.
Love your video. I'm looking for a holiday of a lifetime for myself, wife and two boys 12 and 15. My wife has terminal cancer, so we haven't got long to have a dream holiday. We have an unlimited budget, the holiday must have 1. FANTASTIC BEACH 2. AMAZING HOTEL 3. PLENTY TO DO FOR TEENAGERS 4. GREAT FOOD CHOICE many thanks
To answer one of your questions, I do not want to ever cook for myself while away on vacation. Ever. I do appreciate being able to brew a good, key word 'good' cup of coffee when I wake up, before dressing. But that's it. Informative video, thanks.
We have gone to Grenada and Turks and Caicos and definitely agree that Grand Anse beach is one of the best beaches in the Caribbean competing with Grace Bay beach in Providenciales, T&C for top spot. We stayed at the Regent Palms in Grace bay which I highly recommend and is a boutique hotel with excellent breakfast included in room rate. In Grand Anse beach, we stayed at the Radisson and while I’m not a fan of the property, the location is right on the beach and is fraction of the cost of Spice Island resort. We did walk to Mount Cinnamon resort and would like to try it the next time we go back to Grenada.
I stayed at Riu in Ochi and didn’t have a problem with any noise but my friends who stayed in the other bigger building there would hear the beach parties going on every night until midnight. The beach was awesome there and it was close to many attractions including Dunn’s river falls, mystic mountain, and the blue hole but I’ll look into some of your other suggestions once we can travel again.
Agree about Atlantis resort, we only went there because my daughter wanted to go to the water park & it was easier to just stay there on property. Yes the food & water very pricey. Although we did find a Dunkin’ Donuts for breakfast 😂 & shopped for water a nearby convenience store. Great video.😊
My absolute favorite on this island is The Royalton Negril. Very well worth the stay. The reason I love it so much is the resort itself plus that it's on Bloody Bay. Which has great history
lol, I knew Atlantis would make your list! I feel the same way. Although, everyone should go at least once to experience the water slides. But, having been there, done that, I can say that I'm not overly driven to return to Nassau at all. I'm happy I went, but there are destination I prefer.
@@niabarber6259 Couples swept away is way ahead of couples Negril. You will see when you visit. It is always nice to try new places but you may be disappointed. You should have stayed at couples Negril, first before staying at Couples swept away
Just went to Atlantis back in July with my wife and 2 sons (8 and 4). Good: - The beach (especially the Cove, which is a giant swimming pool and safe for kids) - The water park: out of this world. - Cool to walk around (if you like walking) Bad: - Food, food and food. It caters to the worst of American tourism (burgers, chicken tenders and hot dogs). This is all the kiosks around the resort offer. Or you have to go to Nobu ($100/plate) in the casino. - It was so hard to find seafood, I mean really? - Service: just not that friendly. The contrast is specially stark when compared to Mexico and how serviceable and hospitable people are in those resorts. To be fair Covid hit the island pretty bad and they were re-opening. Worth the visit once, but I wouldn’t go back.
Stayed there for a week with family. All the buffets have the exact same food except on different serving dishes. Both time we went asked for nonsmoking rooms and were out on “smoking floor”. Local staff at front desk during the day at checking just deceitful and rude. Also weather never great there, always the threat of clouds.
Atlantis always looks dirty & outdated in the pictures i see. They need a major renovation. But I'd like to shout out Abaco Beach resort its a beautiful Bahamian owned resort hotel that was affected by hurricane dorian and was rebuilt entirely 🇧🇸🖤 #supportthelocals
Love your videos but will never go on vacation and cook and do dishes. Want a vacation to escape responsibility and have leisure time. But always love your tips snd all inclusive recommendations!
When I saw the images for Round Hill in Jamaica, especially that 4 post bobbin bed, it reminded me of the movie “How Stella Got Her Groove Back”. Low and behold, that was one of the two resorts used in the film!
Hey I'm planning a trip to St.Lucia next year. Can you do a video of different places to stay there for couples and activities along with pricing estimates.
The Atlantis Bahamas is probably overly expensive because it’s a huge place, to be able to pay all it’s employees, maintenance of pools, rooms, animals etc. Even if it’s not the best place or high quality it’s just how businesses work the amenities of that resort & its size is a lot of money to maintain it.
I am planning on a trip to Barbados in November in 2022 for my birthday 55 years by the time 2022 arrived . Hopefully getting married at the resort all on the same trip. My first marriage at age 55 can you believe that.? So I am planning and budget my money for the trip. Thinking of getting a side hustle job 1 night a week to save up now until 2022 comes. You can do it .if you plan and your dream will come true.
I stayed at Jewel Dunns River and while it is small, it was great. Some of the better entertainment I've seen at all inclusive and the staff was amazing.I also stayed at excellence Punta cana (before the renovation) and also thought it was great.
I’d love to hear about Sandals. We went to Sandals Montego Bay in November and were so disappointed. Our room was amazing (oceanfront walkout with tub) but our service wasn’t great. Had to ask multiple times a day for things like coffee and champagne for our room. I was yelled at and thrown off the “free snorkel” cruise because I didn’t want to snorkel. We have been on at least 50 snorkel cruises and have never had an issue if I chose not to snorkel. We were told by a “security guard” that we could sit out on a dock because it was dangerous and (not joking) something could jump out of the ocean and hurt us???? She made us leave and walked us to our room. There was more. But we paid more for that vacation than any vacation and we had a better experience for less than a third of the cost in Cancun.
I would be writing a letter to the powers that be about your experience. It is YOUR vacation! Who do they think they are telling you that nonsense? 😱 I have never been to one. I am an AMresorts gal myself. I have heard by many that Secrets and Zoetry beat Sandals by far. Again, sorry to hear about your experience.
Gotta disagree with Jade Mountain. It is absolutely worth every penny to stay there! service is impeccable, food is out of this world, and your Major Domo can and will do most anything you ask. I happily trade a walk or shuttle down the mountain for a private cove beach and in room infinity pools.
Travel consultant here! COMPLETELY AGREE on Atlantis. This resort views guests as walking wallets. It’s cha-ching for practically everything you want to do there. Food is so-so, meal plans are expensive and there can be long lines to get in restaurants. I always suggest to clients to visit Atlantis (buy a day pass), not stay there. Are you a travel consultant?
Thanks for this video. I am looking to go to an Island in Jan for my b day. I am looking for a place for adults ( as I am single) & no preferably no kids. I dont know which island in the Caribbean I want to go to as of yet. I would prefer something all inclusive as I am saving my pennies now to go. When would be the best month to actually book this trip? Do I also have to pay separately for the flight as well. I have no idea which airport I would have to fly into. Thanks
Thanks so much for doing this Vanessa! I definitely respect your views and opinions on these matters, that’s why I can’t wait to hear about sandals! 😀 and oh yes definitely the revised....remixed version of the top 10 sandals resorts would be just dandy at this point! Lol
I think I will feel the same way as you. We are going to a Sandals resort for our first time in June. We are going with friends that have been before and love it. But, for us I think it will be one and done type of thing.
So nice to see honest reviews. Never heard anyone dare to say anything about the great Atlantis 😅👍🏾 Could someone please post the link to video where she goes into detail. Thanks
I really appreciate this video. You are the reason I booked an Excellence Resorts. It was within my budget and the reviews are amazing. I literally almost booked Dreams resorts. Thank you so much! I’m going to continue to listen to you! Loll
We were supposed to have our Wedding at Excellence in Punta Cana then the tourist scare of all the people dying in the DR from what they thought were laced beverages. Our whole family was scared. So we had to replan the entire thing.
We found Atlantis Bahamas was a let down. Def over rated. We have stayed at several Rius in Jamaica. Riu Ocho Rios, is not the one i would recomend. Riu Palace Negril is fab.
Hey Vanessa, I really like your videos!! I watched almost all of them. It would be great to have a video about hotels in the region, that a normal person can afford. Who can pay 500-1500$ a night???? Dosent have to be All IN. Some hidden gems on the beach for 100$ a night ? That would be great!
I really liked the couples ocho rios location. The water isn’t as nice as negril, but still an amazing time with plenty to do nearby. Food is amazing. 👌🏽
I love this video. It gives a good perspective on the pros and cons. I completely agree with what you said about Atlantis. My husband and I thought the exact same thing
Can you recommend some luxury all inclusive for a group. It would be my husband & I (in our 50’s) and my son (30), his girlfriend 28 and my daughter 28. This is a special trip so I’d really like very nice rooms, great activities & bars, nice swimmable beach, great food and huge pools. We are looking at Mexico or the Caribbean but are open to other suggestions. Thanks. You’re videos are great

Omg I’m so grateful for you I’ve been trying to find a good resort worth the money and it’s so hard to find real honest reviews

Yes, I also agree to stay at Couples Swept Away instead of Couples Negril. They're both in Negril but Swept Away is amazing!!

Sandals was disgusting. Unless you’re a swinger…

I've visited Atlantis for xmas 2018. It is really over priced with very few dining options which pushes you to the buffet which is $60pp for dinner.

I agree. I wasn’t impressed with Atlantis and did a day pass.
Thanks
Love your information, I am planning on vacationing in Bahamas later, thank you for the reviews and money saving on resorts.
Glad it was helpful! 😊
Love these videos! I am going to Cancun with a large group on Feb and picked the hotel based on your videos!
That’s awesome! Have a great trip! 😊
Thanks for your insight. Would love to hear your thoughts on the Sandals brand.
Thanks so much for doing this Vanessa! I definitely respect your views and opinions on these matters, that’s why I can’t wait to hear about sandals! 😀 and oh yes definitely the revised....remixed version of the top 10 sandals resorts would be just dandy at this point! Lol
You are so welcome! ☺️ Sandals video to come soon 😉
Best value resorts in Jamaica
Thanks for the tips! Good advise & thanks for sharing!
I’m just gonna say it: Sandals is over hyped. I don’t regret going but I wouldn’t recommend it or go back.
I think I will feel the same way as you. We are going to a Sandals resort for our first time in June. We are going with friends that have been before and love it. But, for us I think it will be one and done type of thing.

You said you have never been yet you say you will not go back, thats the definition of being closed minded.
Can you recommend a great resort for a solo senior male?
So nice to see honest reviews.
Never heard anyone dare to say anything about the great Atlantis 😅👍🏾
Could someone please post the link to video where she goes into detail. Thanks
Interested in your thoughts on Sandals. We just traveled with them during Covid, and felt they did well with all the new protocols and upgrades.
They have definitely taken a lot of precautions, I agree!
I really appreciate this video. You are the reason I booked an Excellence Resorts. It was within my budget and the reviews are amazing. I literally almost booked Dreams resorts. Thank you so much! I’m going to continue to listen to you! Loll
That’s so nice to hear! Glad to help 😊
I’ve been to two Excellence resorts and their brand to me is on the top of my list
@@davegriffith6409 hi Dave. Have you been to the Punta Cana locations? How was the food?
We were supposed to have our Wedding at Excellence in Punta Cana then the tourist scare of all the people dying in the DR from what they thought were laced beverages. Our whole family was scared. So we had to replan the entire thing.
I’m from the DR and doesn’t happen on any of the resorts. And it will never happen in A Punta Cana resort
We found Atlantis Bahamas was a let down. Def over rated. We have stayed at several Rius in Jamaica. Riu Ocho Rios, is not the one i would recomend. Riu Palace Negril is fab.
I went to Jade Mountain & it was transforming!!! I will never forget that experience ❤️
Alternative to ANY caribe resort...Little Palm in the Keys or any places in the Panhandle
Little palm is extremely expensive
Hey Vanessa, I really like your videos!! I watched almost all of them. It would be great to have a video about hotels in the region, that a normal person can afford. Who can pay 500-1500$ a night????
Dosent have to be All IN. Some hidden gems on the beach for 100$ a night ? That would be great!
Great video, Vanessa! I would love to hear your take on Sandals like you mentioned. We may be on the same page there. ;)
Yes I would love to hear why you don't like Sandals and love your channel, very good content and very good tips!
By the way first commentary!
Yay, first! Thank you!! ☺️
I stayed at the Atlantis in Dubai and wondered what the fuss was about. I preferred the Zabeel Saray and the Antanara.
I really liked the couples ocho rios location. The water isn’t as nice as negril, but still an amazing time with plenty to do nearby. Food is amazing. 👌🏽
We DEF need more candid reviews like this! loVE THIS! And yes I wanna know it take on Sandals!???? And other big Hotel chains.
I love this video. It gives a good perspective on the pros and cons. I completely agree with what you said about Atlantis. My husband and I thought the exact same thing
Definitely would like a video to hear your thoughts on Sandals!
Avoid there are better hotel around.
I will be spending a week at Hermitage Bay in July. I can't wait.
Tell me about your experience there. Cynth'ya Lewis Reed
Thanks. You’re videos are great
Yes say more about Sandals please!!!!
Very intelligently put-together video. I do not take resort vacations myself, but your recommendations make sense.
Thanks!
Totally agree about Atlantis, Bahamas.
