I saw Bobby in 1977,with Ann Miller in “Anything Goes.” To this day,it is my favorite musical,an l have seen hundreds of live shows. They were pure magic dancing together on stage. It was truly exhilarating.and a blessing to watch them perform. A moment in time,l thank God for.
Not only was Booby Van a great dancer, like the son Gene Kelly would have had from Fred Astaire (lol), but he was also, and this beautiful song proves it, a very, very, very good singer. Love you Bobby ! RIP. Thank you for this excerpt from a still untraceable movie !
Edward Norton and Woody Allen wisely channeled this number when shooting Everybody Says I Love You but Bobby Van’s seeming nonchalance was inimitable. Was a thrill to see him onstage in No No Nanette.

He was cute here, but much nice looking after he had a nose job. The same with Elaine Joyce. There used to be a short video here when she was on Andy Griffith before her nose job.
How can I get this movie? Did he not co-star with Debbie Reynolds in this? Why in the world is this movie not available on DVD? It's such a pleasant flick!
You should have seen him in Lost Horizon the musical- he was the healthiest man I have ever seen- perfect shape- I cant believe anyone that good looking and talented could die so young- that doesnt make sense
I play piano and sing and have worked up a medley of songs from Lost Horizon- sheet music is out of print- so I transcribed it from the recordings- I think my lounge act is good and does them justice
How did he sing and dance at the same time? Because he didn't. They always lip sync in movies. They record the music and vocals first and then play it back on the set.
He seems very happy for someone who's supposed to be heartbroken... The dance, while okay in itself, also totally doesn't match the mood. Strange... And this shows why talents like Bobby Van never managed to rival Astaire and Kelly who made sure the storytelling of their dance numbers made emotional sense.
I like Donald O’Connor. He is my favorite. If you want to see Bobby Van at his best, watch him in the remake of “Lost Horizon”. Boy howdy, is he good. He is Jewish.
Yes, the last remake of Lost Horizon with Olivia Hussey, George Kennedy, Michael York, Bobby Van and the original 'Hot Lips Houlihan' ~ I can hear her voice and see her face but dang I can't remember her name!!!
At the beginning he seems heartbroken, then it seems like he starts to get happier, maybe realizing there are other fish in the sea :) lol Anyhow, great performance but yes no where as grand as Ann Miller or Fred Astaire.
I think he was one of the greatest dancers. He is very under-rated. I wish there were more dance skits by Bobby Van.

I love when he and Bob Fosse dance. Just so much fun.
He was awesome. I got to know him recently on Tattletales. Can't get enough of him and elaine. So sad he died so young...

His charm was overwhelming, it made his ordinary face handsome. You just want to hug him.

My favorite. He was so fantastic.
he actually got cuter as the years went on... what talent!!!!
AGREE!!
Because of the nose job.
I saw the movie lost horizon many years ago when i ws a child. loved it. i can still remember that song..the world is a circle..........loved it
Wow- some of these moves are like an early 'moon walk.'
He had a great talent, thanks for this clip........
I remember when he hosted Make me Laugh. I had no idea he was such a talented song and dance man.
This is nothing compared to Bobby Van's Take Me to Broadway clip, great stuff!!
Bobby was SOOOOO underrated it's not even funny. What talent!!!
Truth.
He was a genius. One of the last great song and dance men.
Second only to the late Fred Altairn and Jane Kelli
@@Lff3333 I would rate him even with them. He was more athletic and better looking as well. It's a shame he died so young at 51.

Just watching right now Lost Horizon on Talking Pictures and I just love his Question Me An Answer song and dance routine!
He's putting on a 'false bravado' in the words of the song and in the dance. Who could possibly be 'through' with adorable young Debbie Reynolds!?

Debbie Reynolds and Bob Fosse, too.
